Karan Johar has signed Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma for his next directorial venture titled ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’.
In an exclusive interview with Bombay Times, the director of ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ said “I had developed a film for over a year-and-a-half that needed another 3-5 months of screenplay work. That film is still going to be made and I will make it immediately after Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. That film is tough and a challenging narrative and is about a husband, wife and a daughter and I have already cast the husband. But when I went to New York, this film suddenly came to me. I think it is about getting out of Mumbai. I wrote it in just 30 days. I have never done that before.”
On casting Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma, Johar said “I had got to know Ranbir and Anushka really well while shooting Bombay Velvet (Anurag Kashyap film). And I saw their chemistry. Bombay Velvet had tapped into an unusual part of their chemistry. This film will tap into another unusual part of their chemistry”
Karan has also said that ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ is not a conventional love story or a love triangle. In Johar’s own words “It’s a film that dwells deeply on relationships, heartbreaks and how love completes you, defines you and yet leaves you wanting for more”
‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ releases in theatres on June 6 2016.

@Lisa, Aamir was supposed to do the other film which Karan was writing. That was a film on husband-wife relationship. Karan said in his interview that he had cast the husband.

kjo again directing a film without srk although soty also produced by RCE. Kjo success rate with srk is 100% n every film turn ATBB in oversease but Soty totally failed. Hope ADHM do well otherwise kjo stat comparing with farah khan, the man of golden heart srk do everything for friendship, 150cr HNY is the recent example
After ‘Devdas’, finally we will get to see Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on screen together. Director Rohit Shetty is making the remake of cult classic movie ‘Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi’, and he will be getting these two superstars on screen together. Earlier, Kajol was approached to do the role, but now Ash has replaced Kajol in the film.
