Akshay fans would be very disappointed to read this. Second week collections were very important for a big budget film like Kambakht Ishq, but the Akshay Kumar film has crashed in Week 2 by almost 75% all over India.
Usually films that release big (1000+ prints), fall by 40 – 50% in week 2, which is considered normal. 75% drop though, isn’t!
While KI, also starring Kareen Kapoor, grossed about 42 crores (official numbers) in week 1, the second week all India nett gross is less than 10 crores. Comparing Week 2 of Kambakht Ishq to other biggies in the past. Ghajini after a 60 crore+ first week, managed to gross about 26 crores. While Rab Ne after a first week total similar to Kambakht Ishq managed 24.6 crores. Akshay’s Singh Is King too did much better last year.
Comparison with other biggies from the past
- Ghajini – 26 crores
- Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi – 24.60 Crores
- Singh Is King – 19 crores
- Kambakht Ishq – 10 crores (approx figures, should be lesser)
So what went wrong in week 2, after a decent opening week? Well, the word-of-mouth is poor, the family audience especially have rejected the film outright and lastly the repeat value is almost nil.
From here on, super-hit / blockbuster, looks highly unlikely. Above average to HIT at best!

1st of all ithink dat da kambakht ishq is not just a movie its a freaky drama or i would say dat its a rubbish
garbege… but it does’nt matter dat movie is a flop or would be, i just know dat da bebo’s character is
very strong and powerfull just because of ilove her very much…
The worst movie ever. If it hadn’t been for the huge hype ….the movie would have flopped Big time!!
hey guys just so you know… KI has grossed nett 55 crores only from india in 3/4 weeks. excluding overseas collections. since movie was made with the budget of 60crores, it is a clear winner
55crores from india + overseas + satellite, media and music rights= should gross more than 80 crores nett.
and mind you, movie is still running in cinemas. so add few more crores to its lifetime.

Akki factor has hit Distributers had.. for its flop for them. Since KI was sold for approx 60 crores and with the new sharing terms with Multiplexes, Distributers shares will be only 50 % i.e approx Rs 26 crores. So now its time the distributers see the scripts B4 getting distribution rights. and not only concentrate on AKKi’s monkey antics & toilet comedy scripts

Its a crap movie. Waste of time and more importantly waste of money. I really do want my money back. Akshay kumar always believe in quantity and not quality. He might have delivered 4 hits in 2007 but that was a mere luck. In short Akshay Kumar is an over rated actor.
there are too much swearing in this movie but it is a good movie but no story to it.
I think kareena shows of too much while in movies and also not in movies, as she wants a go at making a movie with akshay thinking she is cool.
kareena just believes that her quality of work is too good than others but no she is wrong she might have had some hit movies in any of the years but she over acts in kambhakt ishq .
If u leave aside Salman, Akshay Kumar is the most praised person about his good looks. Most of the bollywood industry has complemented Akshay Kumar about his good looks, even directors like Sanjay Gandhvi, Karan Johar & Farah Khan.
