3 Idiots, currently holds the record for the highest grossing Hindi film in history. The record was set in 2009. Since then, every big ‘superstar’ release was expected to surpass the Aamir Khan classic. Ek Tha Tiger came close, but finished it’s record-smashing run 2 crores short of the 202 crore target.

Note: Due to fewer screens and competition, the opening weekend of JTHJ is unlikely to come close to ETT. In the long run, with good word-of-mouth and family audience coming out in numbers to watch Yash Chopra’s last film.. who knows?

- 13th November: Shahrukh Khan’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan opens well on 2500 screens in India. Business at mass centres affected due to competition from Son Of Sardar. Also, the runtime of 3 hours has resulted in fewer shows at multiplexes. Diwali festivities in most parts of the country, considerably reduces occupancy for afternoon / evening shows. Day 1: 15.2 crore
- 14th November: Picked up all over India by more than 30% to record a healthy two day total. Again, SOS affected collections in North India. Day 2: 19.54 crore
- 15th November: Expected drop on Thursday. Nothing major. JTHJ continues to do well at multiplexes across India. Super strong in West Bengal, Nizam/Andhra and Mysore. At this point, after 3 days (considered to be the first weekend), Ek Tha Tiger leads with 60.34 cr, followed by Jab Tak Hai Jaan 49.22 cr and 3 Idiots with 40 cr (incl preview shows).
- 16th November: Will be updated soon with official figures. Early estimates suggest a 30% drop.
- 17th November: Business dropped on Saturday as theatres in Maharashtra were shut down after the passing away of Bal Thackeray.
- 18th November (Sunday) : While the all India business picked up by 10%, all theatres in Maharashtra remained shut. The records of 3 Idiots and Ek Tha Tiger out of reach now.
- 19th November: The film dropped considerably on it’s first weekend (Monday).
- 20th November: Dropped again by 13%. Business in Maharashtra was back to normal, but didn’t help the total.

JTHJ will max do 147- 150+cr frm india thats it while ETT will remain the biggest grosser of the year as Dabangg 2 won’t be crosing it either forget abt crossing 3 idiots. However 3idiots will be topped in 2013 by chennai express, krrish 3 and PK.
Ett net is 187 having adjusted 200+ while 3 idiots net is 202 with adjusted 269,indicine how can u compare ett with 3 idiots
but the point is that jthj still got more screens than bodyguard and dabbang.. cant u understand the simple point but still cant beat 3 days total of bodyguard and dabang.. the total screens are 4500.. 2700 for jthj and 1800 for son of sardar.. while dabang 1800 and bodyguard 2200 but still cant beat both.. shame for srk fans.. now make excuses.. its not about competitions its about the screens and still has more screesn than both but failed its simple srk isnt a great actor like salman..

Answer – The people of overseas are not illiterate. They know the difference between a classic movie and a crap movie.
People over there normally watch lots of hollywood movies..and in Hollywood movies there is no – third class comedy, action,tak dhina dhin etc etc. They love to see Classic Acting,Classic Action,Classic Romance,Classic Story etc etc.
Thats the reason LA Times Gave 4.5 stars to Ra.one n said ‘Bollywood at its best’ & The same LA Times Gave 0 Stars to Ek Tha Tiger ..!!
For them Shah rukh Khan is the only actor in Bollywood which makes a movie who can stand amongst Hollywood movies.
U can see its example in the form that => Veer-Zaara which was released in 2004 was the first bollywood movie to cross 50 cr in overseas .
=> My name is Khan released in 2010 is the first bollywood movie to cross 100 cr in overseas and still the highest grosser of bollywood :)

Biggest difference is non solo release of jthj. That is enough reason for jhtj and sos low collection. Let dhoom 3 and krissh 3 release on same day and see their results. You can increase number of screens and shows but you can never increase the number of movie goers in single day
@joker, 1st. jthj screens is 2600 not 2700 2nd. at the time of dabangg n bodyguard they were released solo no competition, people had only 1 option to go n watch dabangg n bodyguard. but this time there are 2 movie clashing n people have also 2 option JTHJ or SOS, due to which collections of both movie are less than expectations..
btw JTHJ’s (clash-less screens) 3 days collection 49.22 is still better than solo releases dabangg/bodyguard/ett

(i) It is surprising that people who migrated out of India are literates and we are illiterates. Two days back, I remember shocking death of lady in Irelan. The racist attack on Indaians by Australians. Turning Afghanistan and Iraq into stone age by USA only to take revenge of 26/11, etc.
(ii) India is the only country, where you get so much freedom to do away with anything.
(iii) Hollywood Filcks – Couching Dragons, Jetlee, Brucelee , Tom Cruise [Mission Impossible Series], etc. Are these actions real? To me they look like comics? I like action of SOS, better than them.
(iv) Ratings are personal preferences and varies from critics to critics. By the way, what your comment on Lagan, nominated for Oscar.
(v) 3 Idiots is till date the highest earning bollywood flicks in overseas and HAHK opened the gate.
(vi) SRK movies were earlier produced by Yash Raj and Karan Johars, who have very good distribution set ups in Overseas. ADF is new in this area.

salman is not baap of shahrukh. its just most people likes unrealistic movies like catching a plane in hand or throwing someone far away in a hand. some south style. i never liked those or watched those more than 15 mins. if talking about bollywood i only watch srk, except ra.one otherwise i only watch hollywood or some good family comedy bollywood which do not have even a low established actor. i also felt bored watching 3 idiots in just 15 mins in home on tv. and theatre forget it

JTHJ Released in Pakistan on Thursday on Paid Previews and everywhere on Friday. The Film Grossed a very healthy total of $97,000 at the opening.
Just 2 Days ago, SOS set a new record with $42,000 which was a historic opening. JTHJ broke that record by collecting twice as that. There are no words to describe this kind of opening.
