Since 2010, each and every SRK film has grossed more than 200 crore, including Ra One, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, My Name Is Khan and Don 2. His last two films have crossed Rs 350 crore worldwide. Answer: The response to the trailer is good and the extended holiday weekend should help. But to take a 15 crore plus opening, the film should get a good opening in mass centres too. The title could be the only problem here, a more mass-appealing title would have ensured higher footfalls at smaller centres too. We think, Baby will be a good film that will rely on word-of-mouth to be Akshay’s biggest grosser.

A: Currently, both films are scheduled to release during Christmas 2015. The situation is similar to earlier this year, when Bombay Velvet and Welcome Back were targeting Christmas releases. I find the answer to this article funny..making money doesn’t mean its a quality picture…if SRK has x or y 100 or200 crore flick, so does Salman, Amir, etc…prior 2008, none had a 100 crore domestic…it shows the business has expanded rather than increase in popularity…these are already famous people of india, so they don’t need intro…they just need to increase screen count and escalate ticket price so that even if the picture is bad, by the time the word of mouth plays its part, most of the money find its way into the bank account …
I have watched every SRK flick at a cinema hall since OSO…after consecutive watches, i skipped HNY after looking at the pathetically unoriginal trailer…moreover Farah Khan with the Tees Maar Khan debacle, have lost another fan from my part…as much as i like SRK, i still cant make up my mind to watch HNY..
This speaks the justification of this article and I agree to it…India is evolving with educated minds getting a lot of Hollywood exposure… If SRK doesn’t focus on quality films, I fear he will not only continue to loose fans, but the bollywood market as a whole will start falling by.. Although quality films are provided by too and few, but these aren’t coming from the most popular faces from India, apart from Amir Khan..
It is not Jaggu’s fault. People actually expected 300cr from HNY being a SRK release. But it failed to achieve that feat, expecting same from others actors would result in even bigger disappointment. TBH.

Dhoom 3 was disappointing, but it was average at best…considering him with the rest of the popular faces, he is the one with
the highest probability of providing a good film…and this is mainly because he has been very smart with his choice of films…He always try to work with passionate people who believes in meaningful cinema…if i look at the rest like SRK or Salman, it looks like they prioritise the money resulting in lacklustre product…if there is no true inspiration to portray something worthwhile in a canvas, how on earth can we expect it to be brilliant…film is an art form and if the artistry is neglected focussing just on money, we get poor products…
In India, i believe people are blinded by looking at the stars of the films they like but they don’t realise that a film is good or bad only cause of the maker…the director, producer, writer…the past work of a director, writer or even to an extent, a producer reflects the kind of work they had been associated with and this helps us in approaching their very next product…tomorrow if people start going to theatres to watch a Rajkumar Hirani film rather than Amir khan film, Indian audience will have evolved to a large extent, and the winner will be India..
Lastly the 100 or 200 crore club stupid illusion for success…to begin with, India is a population of 1.215 billion people, i.e. 100 crore people…if i take an average of Rs 200 for a ticket and divide to 100 crore, i get 50 lakh…just imagine, 50 lakh people go to theatres to watch a film from a population of 100 crore…and i have considered only 200..some films like Dhoom 3 had a maximum ticket price of up to an astounding Rs. 900..so if a family of 4 person went to watch on that ticket, they would have spent a total of 3600 rupees..and is this the yardstick for a successful film?? By the time that family realises that they have been disappointed, they have given 3600 to distributors and producers…
if i convert this so called 200 crore to dollars, i get near about 32 million dollars…if i compare with foreign big grossers like interstellar, its laughable…plus, from that 200 crore, the money is distributed among producers, theatre owners, distributors…so how much is really earned?? Very meagre…so how much is the business in India has been expanded really?? We are only being exploited for personal interest…
Apologies for getting diverted to another topic…Finally the talk is about SRK losing the stardom, so he’s already on 49,9999…that’s his loss..they need to pull up their pants and come up with quality yet entertaining products…and its a false illusion that quality or serious films cant be entertaining, if Argo can be made, so can be like those films in India..
@Arjun Kapoor Fan,sorry for saying like that.I shouldn’t have to say like that.but at the same time you have to think why I said like that?the reason behind that is—-amir gave 15 flops in entire career out of 38 movies ,while 13 flops belongs to 90-2000.so it’s almost double than his success he got in 90’s.the same also applied for salman though he got success in no entry,partner which was big hit in multistarrer but these success are nothing compared to his biggest flop streaks.

@Indicine stop making us fool. ra.one’s budget was more than 150 crores, most expensive film at that time and it did only 114 crores (Actual Figures). So, ra.one should be considered disaster. producers and distributers went in big lost. and don 2 despite having same genre as dhoom 3 and ek tha tiger, releasing on Christmas without competition (so called excuse used for aamir) also failed to beat 3 years old aamir’s ghajini’s record. shame. what kind of fan following? it’s all PR and media hype who still consider him as big star. Chennai express’s credit goes to rohit shetty, deepika and salman not having any release and bad WOM of OUTIMD and satyagraha. otherwise it wouldn’t have broken ek tha tiger’s record.
