Veteran Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan has said the industry is getting dirtier and going backwards as time progresses. He also said clashes are no longer ethical as his latest film ‘Kaabil’ was only given 40% of screens, the rest of which went to the other release this weekend Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Raees’.
Talking to DNA India, Roshan said “I thought this industry will get mature day by day with all the corporate coming in. But it is getting dirtier and dirtier and we are going backwards”
“I have told them to avoid such clashes because it’s not good and ethical for the film. The producers are losing, distributors are losing, exhibitors are losing, audience is losing, who has so much money to go and watch two films? You are depriving so many people of so many things. Only way to go about it is by going 50-50. So that others when they come with such clashes they will think twice.”
Remembering the olden days in the industry when the industry was close-knit family, Roshan said times have changed and people only put up a nice face in front of the media.
“Everything is getting dirty and unethical. No professionalism, no friendship, it’s (Bollywood) not a close knit family at all. It was in my time. Jeetendra, me and Rishi Kapoor are best of friends even today. That was the industry we were working in. Now just shaking hands that also we don’t know what they mean. Putting up a smile and kissing each other’s cheeks in front of the media. That’s not friendship.” he said.

His problem is that he was promised a certain number of screens which were taken from him at the end..This the same problem that Ekta Kapoor and Akshay Kumar faced at the time of OUATIMD release and this problem led to it flopping as well..And this is also the same problem that Ajay Devgn faced at the time of SOS release. And this is the same problem that Bajirao Mastani was facing but it got saved due to Eros Now being smart.. So do u SRK fans see what is common about all these people’s problems..?? It is the fact that time and again SRK has played dirty in clashes..

When srk announced Raees they tried there best to avoid clash after back to back meetings with kaabil maker but then Rakesh sir was saying that we are trying to make good film and I don’t think calsh will matter. Bit now changed his opinion and srk is responsible for all loses.
Rakesh uncle apna sagaa wala toh hai nahi still most of the things what he said are true. Nowadays people like SRK, Kjo use relations for business and self gains. I have been supporting Kaabil all the way out but here the clash happened and Raees is more costly and the industry believes that Raees will not be a crowd puller for days as it is relying purely on fandom and stardom.so they have to recover certain cost through Raees, therefore it is evident that more screens to be given to Raees….As for Kaabil the industry knows well that it is a guaranteed profit film they will give more screens later as definitely Raees will be falling considerably

As for the screen count distribution , he might be right on the point that Kaabil has been affected. But more number screens always go to those movies which has more buzz ! Raees was a bigger movie and it had more buzz and therefore it got more screens and shows !
As Kaabil is being liked its shows should increase . If it doesn’t, it would be unfair. But that doesn’t mean Kaabil should have got equal shows despite less interest right from the opening day !
