At the Tag Heuer event earlier this week, Shahrukh Khan was seen chatting with filmmaker Kunal Kohli.
Shahrukh spoke about Kohli’s 2004 film Hum Tum and quickly added that it was he who should’ve won the national award that year.
“Hum Tum was very nice. The actor of Hum Tum (Saif Ali Khan) won the national award, when I should have got it” Khan said.

Shahrukh was indirectly hinting at his Filmfare award-winning act in Swades, which is widely considered to be his career best performance. The following year, Saif Ali Khan was unanimously chosen as the Best Actor of the year for his performance in Hum Tum.
The debate rages on, more so because Saif’s mother Sharmila Tagore was the Censor Board chief back then. Also, Shahrukh has won every award in the industry, except the National Award.
Sudhir Mishra, who headed the 17-member national award jury, had said “His (Saif’s) acting is better and has improved a lot. We tried to be different this time”

Even I have watched a special screening of yeh hai bakrapur and it deserves all awards like Oscars, Raspberry, Ghanta, Filmfare, and National. Bakras act better than humans by the way YHB will be ATBB @ multiplex and Disaster at single screens and will shatter DHOOM 3’s lifetime record.
Salman Khan deserves all national awards for best actor from 1988 to 2018.
Even Deshdrohi could have given KRK a national film award.
SRK should desist from talking about his awards or not getting an award, nobody beats awards.
IF Hrithik Roshan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan also do not have national awards, it shows that this award should be watched by mediawalas and flopfilmwalas.
SRK was good only in five movies in his lifetime i.e. Swades, Chak De, Kuch Kuch Hota hai, DDLJ & Daar. He deserved award’s for all this movies.In rest of his movies either he was crap or movie was crap.
But SRK should happy that he gets awards for most of the non deserving performances. Screen and Zee always gives awards to him for nothing. Why complain about those he deserves?

national award is not for hindi movies only, and there would have been better nominations from other langauge that year, but thanks to Sharmila on the panel Saif got it.
srk got too much fixated for national award after lagaan gained so much recognition and aamir was doing simply great, that he immediately went and signed Ashutosh Gowariker, whom he thought would guarantee something bigger. But the movie simply didn’t do anything. Just another movie from the regular lot.
and whoever supports Hum Tum has never seen Harry met Sally, which for me is one of the most realistic romantic movies ever.

Srk deserves for Chak De India more than Swades. Having said that Swades is one of the landmark movie in Srk career but Chak De performance was more powerful than Swades !!!!!!

Srk you dont need any award to be our superstar……….thanks god you are not like the one who didnt get filmfare for his movie and boycotted all award functions…….Srk a filmfare champions along with HR who got 4 filmfares since 2000 and now ranbir got 2…..and if you watch the quality of filmfare you can see it always go to deserve ones….like farhan for BMB,Big b for black,ranbir for rockstar and barfi,srk for swades,cdi,mnik,devdas,HR for Jodha akbar,koi mil gaya………..
More than SRK deserving the national award for Swades in 2004, it was the other way round. The National Award would have been honoured had it been conferred on SRK for that performance of a lifetime in Swades !!! Never mind even Dilip Sahab has been denied…
He delivered a fabulous performance in Swades but what he will get after saying all this . According to me Hrithik deserved national award for KMG and Guzaarish . Aamir should have won it for Lagaan which according to me is his best performance . He got National award for film providing wholesome entertainment as a producer but he should have got as an actor also . He also deserved best supporting actor – National award for TZP. But Aamir or Hrithik say anything that we deserved for Lagaan or Guzaarish . I also feel Sharmila Tagore played a huge role in Saif winning the national award although i feel his acting was brilliant and the movie was also very good but not of National award winning level . The fact is that according to me Hum Tum is the best Rom – Com i have seen till now in Bollywood .
