2016 has been a fairly good year for the Hindi Film Industry. The box office collections of all films combined in the first 5 months of 2016 is higher than the same January – May period last year.
But apart from ‘Baaghi’ and ‘The Jungle Book’, no other film has managed to make a mark at smaller centres. In fact, the share of business generated from multiplexes has nearly touched 90% this year.
This could be because there hasn’t been a film featuring a top superstar that has held appeal towards every section of the audience. ‘Airlift’ was targeted at the multiplex audience in cities and didn’t even release at most single-screens. ‘FAN’ had a wide release and even took a initial, but the film had very little in it for the masses.
That brings us to ‘Housefull 3’. A established and much-loved franchise, a superstar with a big following at smaller centres (multiplex audience are returning to watch his films too) and actors (Akshay and Riteish) with arguably the best comic timing in the industry. The film also has a favourable release period – which falls just after the conclusion of the IPL season. Music is not very important for this genre of films, but the only problem could be the mixed response to the theatrical trailer. Nevertheless, Housefull 3 should open big on Friday with content deciding the fate of the film Saturday onwards.
‘Housefull 3’ has it all and is truly one of the biggest films of 2016, but highly-anticipated big films featuring Akshay Kumar in the lead, haven’t really worked at the box office in the last few years. ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara’ was arguably his most-awaited film, but it was a major failure both in terms of content and collections. ‘Brothers’, another Akshay Kumar biggie, suffered the same fate too.
All eyes will be on ‘Housefull 3′ this weekend. It’s a big film that has to score big. Anything less than what the previous film in the franchise ’Housefull 2’ collected (116 crore) would be considered a disappointment.

Akshay is nothing before 2007 and after 2007 so he ruled the Bollywood on only one year I.e 2007. Don’t let me bash akki. He is a good comedian.

Chiii look at the difference Salman is still competing with a kid Hrithik while his contemparies are more than twice his figures. Go to Rotten tomatoes see ratings of pathetic Sallu movies before mentioning anything about Akshay acting. Bikini Bhaijaan non actor forever.
Minus the collection none of salmanazars recent films can touches the quality of sp26, baby, oh my god, airlift, these are masterpieces, only film I enjoyed of salman was bhajrangi bhaijaan, even though it still had masala element.
Ironically, both OUATIMD and Brothers were top notch hollywood standard films which were a case of being made in the wrong time….I liked both and OUATIMD is one of my favourite romantic movies…
I think main problem with H3 is the songs and main actresses….the first 2 parts had Deepika and asin which are way bigger than these 3 and the songs were also good and serious while only one song in both movie was funny(The Papa song) while in this, they wanted to make every song funny and this might have been their biggest mistake…
I was planning to watch this movie but after looking behaviour of akshay fans towards Salman a big NO to this movie.Will watch Rustom.
