Happy New Year, KICK, Bang Bang Box Office Predictions

Happy New Year: Shah Rukh returns to the movie theaters this Diwali after delivering the then highest grosser of all time in the form of Chennai Express. This time he has teamed up with Farah Khan (with whom he has never delivered a dud). This bodes well for the film. It occupies the highly beneficial Diwali weekend slot and could even enjoy two open weekends. Unlike Krrish 3 last year, HNY gets a perfect release date as Diwali falls on Thursday. Judging by the genre, starcast and release date of Happy New Year it can be safely said that all opening and lifetime records will be in danger. The film, even if its half as entertaining as SRK and Farah’s Main Hoon Na, it will indeed bring happy times for the makers. Box Office Prediction: 250 crore

Positive factors: Successful actor-director duo, Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s presence, film’s genre, favourable release date.
Negative factors: Farah Khan is getting worse with every film that she has directed.

Happy New Year - Kick - Bang Bang Box Office Predictions

Happy New Year – Kick – Bang Bang Box Office Predictions

Kick: Salman gets back his Eid slot this year with this Sajid Nadiadwala directed film. It is the remake of a huge commercial blockbuster which follows closely with the Dhoom series as far as genre is concerned. It remains to be seen if the North Indian audiences warm up to the story as much as the South Indian audiences. The only thing that is making us a little uncertain is the credentials of Sajid Nadiadwala as a director. The opening records should be broken (or challenged) but the lifetime records will depend on the quality of the film. Box Office Prediction: 240 crore.

Positives: Salman Khan, remake re-scripted by Chetan Bhagat, favourable Eid release date, genre
Negatives: Debutant director, Jacqueline Fernandes (no big female star).

Bang Bang: Hrithik Roshan has had a roller coaster last few months. In 2014 he returns with the action spy commercial adventure Bang Bang that also stars Katrina Kaif. It currently occupies the Gandhi Jayanti date but with the delay in the shooting schedule, due to Hrithik’s ill health, the film could be postponed to a later date. Even though Knight and Day is considered a disappointment in Hollywood, the storyline should transpire well in Bollywood because it is commercial and universal. Expect this to be a box office behemoth regardless of the itchy track record of its director Siddharth Anand. Prediction: 225 crore

Positives: Hrithik Roshan – Katrina Kaif, genre (action, romance), Kahaani director Sujoy Ghosh has re-scripted the Hollywood film
Negatives: Track record of director Siddharth Anand, might not get a perfect release date.

Bombay Velvet: Bombay Velvet is a very difficult film to predict. The budget of this film has gone over 100 crore already but Anurag Kashyap is someone who can be trusted to make all that money count at the end of it all. It is Anurag Kashyap’s first big budget film starring a big star and should end up to be a good film even though the box office fate of Bombay Velvet lies in the balance, because the genre is not very commercial and family audiences are not likely to turn for this film even though it enjoys a Christmas 2014 release. Prediction: 125 crore.

Action Jackson: Ajay Devgn failed to shine in 2013 with both of his films flopping. Prabhu Deva however had a good 2013 with the success of R… Rajkumar. It proved once again that the South Indian director knows his commercial entertainers really well. Action Jackson looks like another run of the mill commercial film and that could go against it. It is also supposed to clash with Akshay Kumar’s Holiday at the box office on 1st May. If the clash takes place both films will suffer. Prediction with clash: 75 crore. Prediction without clash: 105 crore.

Humshakkals: Sajid Khan has managed to catch the irk of the critics with his outlandish films before but he went terribly wrong with the 2013 dud Himmatwala. His fixation with the letter ‘H’ continues with this supposed remake of the classic comedy film Angoor. Sajid and the comedy genre have never gone wrong and Humshakkals should bring him back in the game. June should prove to be a good month for Bollywood with both PK (if it releases) and Humshakkals doing well.
Prediction: 110 crore.

Happy Ending: Saif Ali Khan teams up with his ‘Go Goa Gone’ director in this quirky romantic comedy which also stars Ileana D’cruz. The director duo of Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK have been known to deliver fine films out of difficult subject matter and we are totally expecting a new take on romance by this team of directors. Happy Ending could end up surprising one and all with its box office collections. Prediction: 80 crore.

Singham 2: Rohit Shetty who delivered a mammoth of a film with Chennai Express is back with his old friend and frequent collaborator in the sequel of the 2011 smash hit Singham. Rohit Shetty has promised his audiences to raise up the stakes in this one and strangely enough this sequel won’t be based on the tamil Singham 2. Rohit commands a special pull amongst the family audiences with his special brand of cinema and we expect them to turn up in huge numbers for Singham 2. Prediction: 150 crore.

Phantom: This film directed by Kabir Khan looks a lot like Ek Tha Tiger with Saif Ali Khan replacing Salman Khan but the subject matter of this film is expected to be a lot less commercial than Ek Tha Tiger. It has been described as a post 26/11 counter-terrorism action drama. We don’t know about you, but that one line synopsis has us interested. Katrina Kaif will also appear in a de-glam avatar in Phantom. Prediction: 105 crore.

Mary Kom: Priyanka Chopra will be portraying the inspirational story of Olympic medalist MC Mary Kom in this Omang Bhandula directed and Sanjay Leela Bhansali produced film. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag showed everyone that a sport film about a real life Indian athlete can work big time and Mary Kom will be looking to follow suit. We are not too confident about the track record of the director and hence we will be a little cautious with our prediction. Having said that, we hope the film captures Mary Kom’s life story properly! Prediction: 55 crore.

  • did you remember, you had wrote you didn’t seen aamir’s most 90’s bad movies in your comment, this prove how much big fan you’re of aamir even I a fan of SRK seen aamir’s amost crap movies.SRK gave justice to his acting through out the 90’s upto now.he did every role even at last comedian.this proved how much versatility and acting intensity he has.stiill I don’t will be surprosed you’ll say bg,talash,dabang1&2,ghajini,dg,ready,wanted are far better movies than CDI,MNIK,SWADES,MHN,K2H2,RAM JAANE,JOSH.because you deserves those craps.I didn’t say I dislike patrotism movies rather than unnecessary all time patriotism movies like rdb,mp,lagaan.

where as aamir’s most of big success depended upon his all time at least two main supporting characters(male),did you ever notice that?examples are:

    dch(saif and akshay)
3idiots(sharman and madhavan and mainly chatur and virus character)
    d3(abhishek and uday)
    tzp(darshil safari)
    rdb(kunal and sidharth)

SO WHO CARES ABOUT AAMIR KHAN’S ACTING????NEITHER PEOPLES/FILMFARE?????he can’t became big stars like SRK and salman he only knownas 3idiots/d3’s hero.lol.1st make a good identity for him by people then talk about FILFARE or fakefare.FILMFARE is the awards for actors like SRK,DLILIPJI,BIGB not for amir/sallu.by the way amir also got filmfare for rh and lagaan.was those awards for amir are also fake for it was bought by amir?can you explain?if he is such a gentle didn’t belief any awards, then why he attended all ward functions until 1995(DDLJ)?could you explain?if you can call fake everyone due to one fake person, than the whole world’s people didn’t hesitate to say amiras FAKEMIR.lol.got it.give better excuses not dumb ones.ok,dude.

  • @aks,WE SRKians didn’t ever give you any execuses because that one gives excuses who lost.but we never lost rather we didn’t get screen,if a film can’t get screens then how the hell can huge fans watch that?we want screens.that’s it and don’t give overcomment like 1year free week or avatar example which shows your all time dumbness.so get well soon remember release date of HNY.lol, most of you still couldn’t understood why he is calling KING.

  • @ sss well said bro
@ aks 3I remind for its content more then rencho’s acting and lagaan role z not challenge as u think…DARR,BAZIGAR,MNIK,DEVDAS type roles r challenging but u r just biased and blind fan of amir who cant accept srk as actor….and as i know v r in talk for that topic of acting from your list not about public… Amir need 2 change hair style and looks for every movie thats why he called mr perfect lol…if u think indicine is srkcine then why u here bark go to boi where u also get srk top actor double then amir…only a idiotfan can think srk is not actor…believe and satisfy yourself and in tapory type role josh & ramjane srk done but u cant get roles of amir which srk did…only a idiot fan can denies kkhh, mhn roles of student although they r not much popular as rencho…and b brave and accept u dont have ans of darr, bazigar, devdas instead of blaming indicine…Do u realy think amir deserve filmfare for Rangeela and RH or Laggan ?when its 4 amir then grapes r ??? Lolz

  • equations are. changed. p.k. to release on christmas, a.j. on 6 june, bom. vel. to be deferred, jagga jassos on may 2015.

  • When will SRK ever be no.1?
Past 25 years he has been struggling to be in Bollywood.
One film of Salman and Aamir releases and SRK film crashes in front of it LOL
SRK will always be a noone-cares-about actor. He is not a hero but a zer0.

  • Srk was never a Box Office king. He was hailed as ‘King of Romance’ but his fans pronounced him king of BO. It was Amitabh who was BO king n now Salman Khan. Aamir Khan is a trend setter n he is totally into
different league where no one can dare to go !!!!!

  • 1)Happy New Year: 250cr+
Srk is hugely popular due to the recently huge box office success of Chennai Express to there is a lot of hype to HNY which has both Srk and Deepika. The film is one of the most, if not the most anticipated film of 2014 and is expected to smash all the records possible. HNY has blockbuster written all over it and huge contender to beat Dhoom 3.

    2)PK: 215cr – 245cr
Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani are a deadly combination and have proved that with the huge success of 3 idiots. PK is expected to be a film with a lot of content (as do most of Hirani’s films) which will take it to 200 crores and one of the highest grossing films of 2014.

    3)Bang Bang: 200cr – 235cr
Bang Bang will bring Hrithik Roshan in Dhoom 2 style and will be the third highest grosser on 2014 and the addition of the lucky charm of bollywood Katrina Kaif. Hrithik Roshan is riding high on his recent blockbuster Krrish 3 and will look to make his mark in 2014.

    4)Kick: 180cr – 190cr
Salman Khan had no releases in 2013 and his recent flop of Jai Ho means that he won’t be taking
the number one spot but Kick will be an improvement from Jai Ho as it releases on EID but the content of the film might disappoint a few people (Telegu version had bad reception) so it won’t be a 200cr grosser film but still be a hit due to die hard Salman Khan fans.

    5)Jagga Jasoos: 175cr
Ranbir Kapoor touted as the next superstar and is like a mini superstar now is immensly popular with the youths in India which will drive his fans to the theatres and JJ will imerge as a box office success. The picture of Ranbir and Katrina in Ibiza will add to the pre release hype of Jagga Jasoos.

    6)Singham 2: 150cr – 160cr

    7)Bombay Velvet: 135cr -145cr
Ranbir Kapoor who is very popular these days will give another success in the box office with Bombay Velvet but won’t be as big as Jagga Jasoos as it is made against the back drop of 1970 and is an off-beat film made by Anurag Kashyab. The film however is expected to have a huge opening at the box office due to the success of Jagga. (Might get postponed if clashes with Aamir’s PK in December).

2014 will see a lot of entries to the 100 crore club and 200 crore club. Here are others film’s predictions:
