Happy New Year has collected Rs 13.17 crore on its 5th day at the box office, which is about the same as we estimated late last night. The film is steady at the box office and the Shahrukh Khan starrer will go on to be one of the biggest grossers of all-time, but more was expected out of the film after a record-breaking opening day of 44.97 crore.
Happy New Year has collected Rs 137.04 crore in 5 days and should collect close to 160 crore at the end of Week 1, which will make it the second highest first week grosser this year and the 4th highest of all time.
SRK’s last release Chennai Express collected 156 crore in its first week and finished with lifetime business of 227 crore. Will Happy New Year get there? That question will be answered this coming Saturday and Sunday.

Man the movie is released on around 4700 plus screens. So even with an occupancy rate of 30 percent plus its going to beat kick s collection.
Take a simple example.
There are two theatres.
One with 100 occupancy and another with 500. Suppose two movies released separately in two theatres.
First day both have 100 percent occupancy
Second day first theatre has 90 percent occupancy and other theatre has 50 percent. So if I put in actual numbers the first theatre will have 90 and second ll have 250. So answer me dear Indicine which movie would u say is trending well.
Obviously u can’t over look the second saying its dropped by 50 percent. Coz still second movie is holding up pretty well with respect to sheer numbers.Coz u even need to look how wide the release is.that’s what is happening with happy New year. U can easily make out by by numbers still it is able to put up. Hope u understood and kindly make every one understand. Thank u
