Happy New Year has collected Rs 13.17 crore on its 5th day at the box office, which is about the same as we estimated late last night. The film is steady at the box office and the Shahrukh Khan starrer will go on to be one of the biggest grossers of all-time, but more was expected out of the film after a record-breaking opening day of 44.97 crore.
Happy New Year has collected Rs 137.04 crore in 5 days and should collect close to 160 crore at the end of Week 1, which will make it the second highest first week grosser this year and the 4th highest of all time.
SRK’s last release Chennai Express collected 156 crore in its first week and finished with lifetime business of 227 crore. Will Happy New Year get there? That question will be answered this coming Saturday and Sunday.

Sunday is KING`S BIRTHDAY IT IS GOING TO BE HUGE 20+CR
I have nothing against Srk but this King of Bollywood title doesnt fit him anymore. Agreed, he was unprecedented boxoffice king in 90s when Aamir was struggling and Salman wasnt consistent enough. But times have changed now.
Aamir khan movies are rock solid in second week, Salman khan movies are consistently the biggest hit of the year while he has only Chennai Express in recent times. And I say this with no disrespect but he needs to reinvent himself just the way Aamir did after the dreadful “Mela” Or else he will soon join Akshay Kumar who cant give a hit on his own power.
HNY is a bigtime failure because indicine had said, it might finish with 180 to 190 crores if word of mouth is bad. And that has happened in 4 out 5 films for him. Ra one, Don 2 (expected that since its a farhan Akhtar film, it will rock at multiplexes) JTHJ (expected 150 crores) Chennai Express (exception. extra ordinary business) and now HNY
