Happy New Year has picked up by around 30-40% on its 12th day at the box office, as Tuesday was a holiday in parts of the country Muharram. The film has collected Rs 3.75 – 4 crore to take its lifetime total to Rs 186.5 crore net.
The Shahrukh Khan Diwali release has also emerged as the highest grosser of 2014 in the overseas markets, beating the lifetime overseas collections of Bang Bang.
Happy New Year has an outside chance of going past ‘Kick’ as the biggest worldwide grosser of 2014. Kick grossed Rs 376 crore worldwide and Happy New Year has so far grossed Rs 327 crore. If the film picks up over the coming weekend in India and adds around 10-12 crore overseas, it will be the biggest worldwide grosser of 2014.

@js what are u saying bro. mnik released way back in 2010. it has lesser screen less ticket price and the most important the genre. it was not the masala movie. bt jai ho has everything still only112. can u name any salman movie after dabang that is of different genre. all are masala movies. even don2 collected 108cr inspite of the thriller genre way back in 2011.

Agreed that it under-performed by a large means! But still, collections of well above 210 cr.+ looks very possible at the moment, which would be a great achievement considering bad wom (which was only done by salmir fans), huge negativity calling it TMK2, farah khan director etc. etc. Agreed that releasing at 5000 screens, it’s a bit low on collections but this is not a small feat by any means!
Salman fans talking abt that we were expecting 300 crores and all but they forgot, they too had asked the same from KICK. lol which never happened. Kick was not even profitable to 3-4 distributors, they ended up on losses while HNY will provide YRF with (which are its worldwide distributors)a good profit margin, which again does prove that HNY still performed on par with Kick.
and even, an Idiot compares MNIK??? Are you out of your mind – collecting 72 crores on such a genre which was risky was a huge achievement in 2010. saying MNIK is the underperformer from SRK made me laugh over heals! LOL You can’t expect better things from these fans.
Anyway, as @Hamza said. SRK is just too good for these kind of films, he should leave Salman, Ajay Devgn for this kind of stupid films. I am happy his other two films are looking strong on content and I expect it to be good. SRK – 2 consecutive 200 crore grossers!

@Hamza Khan, Jai Ho cant be compared with MNIK. Adjusting inflation the collections of MNIK would be around 100 Crores today. Correct me if I am wrong yet, it earned less than jai ho today. You can compare it Don 2 (102 Crores) that under performed despite a top director, brand factor, top heroine and big banner.
Carry on if u want to compare a normal Friday release, Jai Ho, that had nothing in its favor but Salman Khan with a GRAND Diwali Release, HNY, with huge star casts and budget and 10 months promotions! Please do it and show your intelligent level. When it fails to beat a film of similar level (but which also had less advantages), Jai Ho hi sahi!
