Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has said he has no ego issues in requesting people to adjust dates to avoid box office clashes. His film, Jab Harry Met Sejal, recently decided to release a week before Akshay Kumar’s ‘Toilet Ek Prem Katha’ – a social film that now gets a solo release during the Independence Day weekend.
Talking to a national daily, the actor said ”I have had a few of those over the last decade and yet, I have gone and requested people to adjust whenever possible. It’s understandable that it’s not possible a lot of times. When it’s a big film on a big holiday, people want to use it to their advantage”
“If the film is good, it will run longer. Most of the films that Red Chillies (Entertainment) releases are big ticket. We are confident about filling up 4,000 screens. In case of a clash, the capacity reduces. Of course, it’s always nice if two films get their own breathing space.”
Shah Rukh also said he is “great enough” to be humble.
“I don’t have any ego (when it comes to clashes). I am great enough to be humble..”
“If we didn’t have this option (August 4), we’d have to release the film on a regular weekend, or not have it out for long. There are no free holiday weekends in the vicinity for as far as we could spot. In such a situation, a clash would be inevitable. At the end of the day, you are working with colleagues who will invariably have some issues and differences. But your primary duty is towards your film. You must look after your baby first” he said.
The iconic star has been involved in some of the biggest clashes the industry has seen when his films like Mohabbatein (Mission Kashmir), Veer Zaara (Aitraaz), Om Shanti Om (Saawariya), Don (Jaan-e-Mann), Jab Tak Hai Jaan (Son Of Sardaar), Dilwale (Bajirao Mastani), Raees (Kaabil) have locked horns at the ticket window.
To his credit and his long-sustaining stardom, Shah Rukh films have more often than not come out on top.

This was a calculated decision. For some reasons, SRK is out of favour with the current BJP Govt, probably because of the Intolerance statement in 2015. Since then everytime his movie releases, there is a social media campaign against him. This maybe the reason why neutral audiences are staying away from his movies. This time he was up against Bhakt favourite Akshay Kumar who has re-invented as face of nationalism in Bollywood. The entire Akshay vs SRK would’ve been painted as a nationalism vs anti-national war. There would’ve been slew of Facebook posts & Whatsapp forwards asking people to boycott JHMS. On top of it the holiday is 15th August when people anyway are in a patriotic mood. People would prefer a nationalistic movie over a regular rom-com. Looking at all these, SRK decided to move the date. Otherwise, he isn’t one to give up on a date. He didn’t bulge 1 bit 4 yrs back during CE vs OUATIMD & again during Raees vs Kaabil. Against Sultan he was forced out by exhibitiors as they weren’t willing to give enough screens. And this time, he knew the risks were too high
Team Bajirao: We’re releasing our film on December 18th.
Team Dilwale: We’re coming on that day too you li’l losers!
Team Kaabil: We’re releasing our film on the 26th of Jan.
Team Raees: Guess what? We’re coming on that day too!
Team Kaabil: Okay! Let us move a day and come earlier on the 25th to avoid a head on collision.

Team JHMS: We’re releasing our film on 11th August.

He would have won this clash also initially.. dilwale and raees with clash have opened above 20 crore whereas akshay kumar even with solo releases is not even touching 15 crore..its a no brainer which film would have taken the initial lead
But now since everything has been decided, lets see whether the decision to release the film on 4th august turns fruitful or not..25 crore opeNing day and an 80 crore plus weekend has to be on cards. No excuses this time.

Srk never won the clash netween jthj and ajays Sos. Sos footfalls shares and appreciation from audience was more. Opening day too is the lowest diffeeence Shah Rukh had against any superstar. Not upto 5cr dufference. Trp rating of Sos was very high top 20. 2nd week it dusted jthj

Where was his humbleness when he said he will destroy SLB during saawariya , he deliberately clashed with him again BM but this time SLB thrashed him .. during kabil he again blocked screen on name of Bahubali .he clashed bcoz hr is coming from MJ …

Reason why srk backed off
1) akki a big superstar against him
2) TEPK inside report is very good
3) No chance of screen blocking as akki is also the producer of this film ..unlike during Outimd where ekta was producer.
4) his film is typical romantic film….
5)He does not want another loss in clash …
6) He badly wants a clean hit…
And Sometimes You r good enough to backstab who trust You…Where was Your modesty in time of Kaabil-Raees clash,screen distribution etc etc…it was just You wanted to harm HR(dnt know the reason though)…HR is no longer in top 4(may be wl b out of top 5 too soon due to His callous attitude to His career)….but all have to admit Hr is facing clash for His last 3 Big films on the trot…yup He failed once miserably against Akki,lost to Raees too in terms of final boc…but He never ran away…faced with guts & also with Hos cool!!

So cld b a master stroke by srk ..as if its good enuff plex people will gv it a chance in second week as well….only time will tell
