Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has sent his reply to the Maharashtra State Commission for Women’s summons asking him to explain his recent “rape remark”, a top official said here on Thursday.
“He has filed his reply to us today. We are in the process of studying it before deciding the next course of action. I cannot reveal details at this stage,” MSCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar told IANS.
Last Thursday, Salman skipped the MSCW’s summons for personal appearance for the second time and remained away even on Thursday which was the third and final date given to him to explain his “felt like raped women” comment.
He was directed to submit his reply in an affidavit form explaining his recent comment which created a nationwide furore.
Earlier, he was summoned by the MSCW on June 29 and July 7 besides getting similar summons from National Commission for Women, New Delhi.
On the two previous occasions, through his lawyer, Salman had urged the MSCW not to proceed with the matter here since it was already pending before the NCW to avoid duplication, but Rahatkar had turned down his plea.
“We have concurrent powers just the way the NCW has. This matter can be heard at the state level too. Therefore, his version is invalid,” Rahatkar said then, flatly rejecting his plea.
The 50-year-old actor was issued a notice for his “raped woman” remark.
During a group media interaction prior to the release of his mega-blockbuster “Sultan” earlier this month, Salman said that he “felt like a raped woman” after shooting for a gruelling wrestling sequence in the film.

@ aisha: Continuing with my previous comment, if you are sharing any such statement, it is always better to share the entire scenario in which that statement was made.
If I just read that one SRK statement I will be astounded as to how could he say that. But when I see the entire background and the talk that was going on, then it becomes quite clear that he was joking.
That is what media does normally and may be also did in Salman’s case also i.e. just told about the Salmans statement and not that he immediately took it back.
So if we keep cursing that media then better not to follow their route too.
SRK was joking clearly and Salman was not. So wrong comparison. I think you should have searched more on internet and could have found a statement in which SRK said something terrible in a slip of a tongue. That would have made some sense.

Some of the comments you mentioned made by other stars were made 6-7 years back when social media and media in general wasn’t so active.And supporting one night stands,mocking cows or saying I will slap xyz person isn’t equivalent to a comment trivialising rape.Also Salman’s long history of mistreating women whether it’s about beating his erstwhile gf or saying Katrina mere ab koi kaam ki nhi makes him come across as a regressive misogynist.

I found his statement to be insensitive. But he took his words back immediately so personally it was ok with me and I will let it go. Do not like dragging such things and hate media for doing that. You will see they keep asking each celebrity to give their views on the rape comment just to get a reply which can create controversy and help improve their TRPs and when someone important like Anushka says Salman said it wrong they get what they want. I hate media for doing all that stuff and acting like hawks. That is one thing.
But the other thing is it never makes some one smaller to apologize. I am not demanding Salman to apologize. I maintain that it was a slip of a tongue and that was the reason he immediately took it back. But yes there are greater chances of saying something even as a slip of tongue if that is something one keeps saying in private or it is subconsciously present in one’s mind. So I agree with you that even a slip of tongue at times reflects how you think.
That was the reason I clearly said in my comment in the link up there that such thing is not acceptable to me even in the slip of a tongue.
2. In this article also you would see me agreeing with @rohit and in my comment I said too that apologizing will make Salman a better person because ppl esp women have been hurt.
3. But when I say I will let go of this issue it does not mean that I agree with whatever Salman did or said. I would have been if he had apologized. But my point is if he not doing so, even then what is the point in keeping talking about it again and again. I personally do not like dragging such issues.
I have not liked what Salman’s treatment towards women overall has been. The way he treated his ex GFs and the way he talked about them. So I do not defend him there or for his past criminal acts.
I only appreciate his great success at box office for which he deserves to be praised. He has done charitable work too which I will appreciate. Intentions only God knows so I will assume he did those charity with right intentions and not for publicity or improving his image. I do not believe in judging people’s intentions. That is something only God knows.
4. As far as media is concerned, I dislike media for blowing things out of proportion.
Yes I respect Kangana, Amir, Anushka, Lisa Ray, etc who condemned Salman’s statement. In fact my respect for Anushka has increased as she had the guts to say that even though she is his recent co-star of Sultan. She did not mingle her words. So yes I respect these guys for calling a spade a spade and being honest even if it was against their colleague Salman.
But Media? No I do not respect them generally speaking. They are not doing it for honesty or for protecting rights of women. May be some of them are but I am talking about their overall attitude. They just do it for TRPs and sensationalism. In Salman’s case also and always.
They deliberately ask SRK n Amir on Zakir Nayek issue just to create controversy. They know they are Muslims and may be something they will say which will create controversy. Media usually does that. They just want some news at the expense of others.
Do you remember what they did with SRK and Amir in the “intolerance statement” episode? Even SRK, who is so media friendly, recently complained about them in his media interaction on Eid and said the following:

And not just the Khans, the media also does that with others.
So summing it up yes I respect Anushka, Kangana and Amir for being honest but not media.
I have not liked how Salman behaved with women in general and for this rape comment. But do I hate him? No. He is a person with flaws and we all are so I would not comment much on it.
But I do really hope that he brings an overall improvement in his comments and behavior towards women (and not just his own mother/step-mother and sisters but for others too). Every one loves his mother or sister but the real test comes when we talk about mothers and sisters of others. So that is one area where he definitely needs to improve. And if he had apologized to the women in general who have been offended by his comment then I would have respected him more.
That is my overall view. If you do not agree then we may dis-agree.
Just one request to you. See we do not like when Salman badly talks to women. And we love SRK for his treatment towards women. So we, as fans too should be following SRK in our general interactions in that regards. I also felt very bad when @aisha quoted that SRKs porn star comment and felt it was like insulting him because in that occasion he was just joking (it may be a bad joke but still it was a joke so nothing to be quoted here). Bur no matter how much we dislike what she or any other female user say something, let us be a bit gentle and polite. We can disagree with their comments but better to comment in a more decent way. With guys, I know it goes on but with female users it does not look good even if they are the ones who are trashing. That is just a request to you. I know SRK will be proud of us fans if we can follow that.
