FAN has collected Rs 19.2 crore on its opening day at the box office, which matches our ‘early estimate‘ of Rs 19 crore. The film has performed well at multiplexes in cities, but the collections at smaller centres was below-the-mark on Friday.
It was a partial holiday in parts of the country for Ram Navami, so the opening number without the holiday advantage would have been around the 16 crore mark. What that also means is, the film would do well to show growth on Saturday, but even if the collections are at around the same level as Friday, it would be acceptable. Growth on Saturday would mean the film has found acceptance with the multiplex audience.
Like other multiplex films, the next two days become extremely crucial now. Even though FAN has released on 3500 screens, the occupancy level at mass centres was poor on the opening day and the film is unlikely to perform outside those 30-35 cities – it’s at these very centres ‘The Jungle Book’ is also performing very well and could provide tough competition for FAN in the next few days.
FAN has recorded the highest opening day and highest single day collections for 2016. The previous best opening day was Rs 12.35 crore and highest single day was Rs 17.8 crore (Tuesday of Airlift). The fact that FAN has managed a total of close to 20 crore without any commercial factors in its favour, is a fantastic achievement. But because Friday was a holiday in the Hindi belt of India (including Maharastra) and the film featured a major superstar like Shah Rukh Khan, it was expected to collect around 10-15% more than what it has achieved on Day 1

fan as a movie is not upto the mark, the writing and screenplay is not enticing in first half.scenes such as fan approching girls in srk style or fighting other person who says something about his star.

Very well said. I have been facing the same partiality since last couple of days. #indicine has been blocking my comments due to having words like loongi, raeesa, Overactor etc. Even they have blocked my comments for using #spamzone, #challu etc.
But allowing all the srk fans to use abusive words such as lallu, bhojpuri, Bhabijaan, Sultana, criminal, non actor and many others. Also #indicine has no problem if srk fans call me #chuha, #rat, #tigress etc.
A few days ago, even I had stopped visiting #indicine for 2-3 days and posted a same kind of comment you posted today. Then I realised inn sab ka kya fayda!!! #indicine toh badalnewala hain nahin!!! Wo jaisa hain usi mein adjust kar leta hu!!! Then I came back yesterday night.
@Indicine, I know that NVS comment is little bit harsh and I believe you that you also moderates other comments but trust me you really need to upgrade your site or fast the process because 1st it will takes 2-3 hours to publish any comments and maximum time when we open article again to see our comment it will still showing into moderation process which is really painful and it is more painful when it is not publish, then again we have to put the same comment and again wait for 2-4 hours which literary kills the interest. And trust me Indicine it happen with me a lot, out of 10 comment only 1 or 2 comment publish on time for rest I have to do re-comment. That’s why I won’t comment much in your site. Please improve or speed up your process so that I can comment more. The comments should publish in 5-10 min max.
