The Eid period has given the industry and fans several blockbusters over the years. This year is likely to be no different as KICK has opened to outstanding numbers, which should ensure that the film goes on to be Salman Khan’s highest grosser and his first 200 crore grosser.
- Both Chennai Express and Ek Tha Tiger had a better release period than Kick. Chennai Express released after Eid and had three holidays in its first week at the box office – Eid, Sunday, Independence Day. Ek Tha Tiger also had three holidays – Independence Day, Sunday, Eid. KICK released on a non-holiday and has two national holidays – Sunday and Eid.
- KICK has released on significantly higher number of screens 4100, compared to 3300 of Ek Tha Tiger and 3650 screens that Chennai Express released on.
- Chennai Express was the first film to cross 100 crore in its first weekend at the box office, although only after including collections from paid previews.
- Kick was the only film to show growth on its second day at the box office, but that was only because it released on a non-holiday.
- Chennai Express was the only film to compete against a big film like Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara on its 7th day of release. OUATIMD had a limited release on Independence Day.
- Kick is the only film without an established director or leading heroine. Ek Tha Tiger was directed by Kabir Khan (New York) and starred Katrina Kaif (most popular leading lady in 2012). Chennai Express was directed by Rohit Shetty (Singham, Golmaal series) and featured Deepika Padukone (most popular leading lady in 2013)

A hardcore SRK fan, a friend of mine, watched the movie with me. He commented “Its the best performance by Salman after Dabangg and I enjoyed it more than ETT.”

Both K3 and Dhoom 2 are illogical films as well. Dhoom 2 defied several laws of physics, whereas K3 is a kalang in the name of a super hero films.

Kick held up very strongly in some places on Monday while pre Eid hit it in some areas. The film is looking set for a strong run as the places which have under performed for the first four days will start doing strong business from today.

Just watched Kick..
A very entertaining film indeed. I did not expect it to be too much fun, as I had already seen the earlier versions of it, Kick (telugu) and Thillalangadi (tamil). These films had lot more comedy than salman’s kick but still Kick managed to hold the attention and kept entertaining.
The first half was good, funny but very slow as well, it took ages to break for the interval.
While, the second half started slow but it came to bang when Nawaz entered, after that the film went up a bit higher and then ended on a super-high note.
Though, there was nothing like story or screenplay in it as is the case with all salman films, but i kept on entertaining in equal parts. Songs were already popular and looked better now with superb visuals.
Salman carries the film on his shoulders like always and it is truly marvellous to see him enjoying his role to the ‘T’. IMO, after Dabangg, this is the best Salman’s film and his best performance I watched in a long time! The casting too was perfect. Jacqueline was ravishing to say the least. With Nawaz and Hooda ably supporting salman.
Not a perfect eid gift, but still entertaining enough. I wish all the best for the film (hope it doesnt cross CE :P)
Positives:
1. Salman, Salman, Salman * 1000 (best performance in 5 years)
2. Jacquline’s ravishing face, Nawaz and Hooda’s brilliant portrayal.
3. Songs and their visuals.
Negatives:
1. Slow and a bit lengthy
2. Songs’ placement
3. Not enough comedy and action.
I would give it a 3.5 which is pretty much for a salman movie from me.
Predictions: Till 1st week: 155-157 cr.
2nd weekend: 35-37cr.
other days: 20cr.+
Till Week 2: 210-215cr.+
3rd week (would be likely reduced to 1500-1800 screens) : 15-18cr.+
Till 3rd week: 225cr.+
Lifetime: 235cr.+ (likely to beat CE).
Being an SRK fan, doesn’t mean I would loathe all salman films, I appreciate those which are genuinely good, unlike some other stupid fans here. I request, everybody to stop bashing each other and lets just simply support bollywood.

kick collect must 230 crore and the king of box office salman khan. salman is far better from srk CE lifetime collection 208 and kick 220. it is clear srk fan OK. salmon is the no 1 actor of Bollywood

How pre festive release is bad period for release????Big Films earns big even before actual festival and then collections reach to another level during festival ,Kick and krish3 showed this trend……..But on the other hand releasing film on national holiday may benefit in record breaking openings but mostly they drop heavily after initial 3,4 holidays ,examples are ETT and CE………….
