Dilwale distributors get compensation from Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale performed well overseas, but the film was way below-the-mark at the domestic box office as it finished with lifetime business of Rs 148 crore.

Distributors suffered huge losses as the film was expected to collect more than Rs 250 crore in India. Even in the worst case scenario, not many expected the SRK-Kajol starrer to collect less than Rs 180 – 200 crore.

Now, in what is being seen as an unprecedented move, Shah Rukh has refunded 50% of the losses that distributors suffered over the film.

Only Tamil superstar Rajnikanth, has in the past, refunded distributors when his films have failed to cover the investment of distributors.

Trade analyst Komal Nahta tweeted “Shah Rukh Khan does what few would do. Refunds 50% of the loss of distributors of his Dilwale. That’s what you call a considerate producer!”

Directed by Rohit Shetty, Dilwale released with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani during the lucrative Christmas weekend.

  • Hmmmmm SRK the KING OF BOLLYWOOD is truly inspiration……..that why we Srkian love and respect him ….he is a really good human being and not being human

  • @star wars
O for God Sake,JAI Ho under performed according to his status and no distributor lost his money .Really.I would have called you a “Ch….ya” if indicine hadnt published Airlift vs Jai Ho comparison recently, but as indicine published that article few days back thats why even word “Ch…ya” is ashamed to adopt your name.Read these lines
“Jai Ho: Huge release, mass-appeal, first Salman Khan film in 13 months, mixed to negative word-of-mouth at big centres, no advantage of Republic Day which happened to fall on Sunday. Higher costs, loss-making for distributors, Semi Hit / Above Average.”

  • baade dil wala … kam se kam paise wapis to kiye. aur kis Bollywood ke superstar ya producer ne kiya. esa.. don’t abuse him if u don’t like him. show some respect. he has worked from past 20 years . also don’t abuse salman and aamir. they also deserve equal respect …

  • Now officially dilwale is a failure……

But nice to see a good gusture from mr srk khan…. WellDone…… Ready to return for raees also..

  • But when the poor producers of “Flop Ho” will get their compensation ?
Oops, sorry, Bhaijan was running out of money that time as he had to pay a huge chunk of money to lawyers, police officials and witnesses of Hit-and-Run case in order to mould the verdict in his favour.
So sadly, producers of Flop Ho didn’t get their compensation (which they actually deserved).

@Chuhe my loyal JACK 3:38 pm : What you do you jerk, for your livelihood ? People like you are the biggest disgrace to this society who make fun of someone’s else success. You loggerhead, I know that even if you are doing a taxi-driver job in Uber/Ola, that too, is biggest threat to the society as evil minded moron like you, will try to assault your own passengers .
Go wash your face and hide somewhere you loser. First look at yourself what is your aukaat before barking about SRK.
People like you are not even eligible to get compared with SRK’s shit let alone SRK, the man, himself.
@3:40 pm : Just get lost you liar. Again you have chanted 300 cr for Sultan on one of the pages. Will see you post the release of Sultan. Count your days till then.

@Neeraj 4:00 pm : Do you have any issue in reading or you are a plain illiterate ?
From day one, it was crystal clear that few distributors have lost their investment. And the whole debate was not about a distributor lost his money, but it was about “How a movie can be declared Semi-Hit, if few of them have lost their investment , but many have recovered too (e.g. distributors of WB, Mysore, CP etc) “. Plus, Dilwale had done well in overseas too. So the debate was about the verdict of Dilwale and not about how many distributors have lost their investment.

@Star wars 4:22 pm : Get your facts correct. “Flop Ho” was huge loss for distributors (though a profitable venture for makers , same as Dilwale). So just think twice before you spout your filth.

  • It takes a lot of guts to refund such huge amount of money. This is a tight slap for those who say that SRK has only love for money and will do anything for it. So if that was the case all he had to do was to remain silent and let the distributors cry.

He knows that distributors lost money as they believed in SRK delivering a blockbuster. He failed in delivering a blockbuster but will not fail peoples trust.

Appreciation also for Rajnikanth, Akshay and all other actors who walk this path.

  • Lol @Zuheeb ab mujhe pata chal gaya har SRK fans bahut bada morons, fools aur Idiot hota hai…. Chori karke (Remakes) like RBDJ, OSO, Devdas (these all are not remake but are Chori) bana kar kar to tum logo ko bhondu banata hi hai ab ye tum logo ko ye karke bhi bhondu bana raha hai.

    @ Zuheeb (another Bhondu spotted.)
maine jo sawal poochha tha uska jawad nahi diye – about Ra.one and Don 2.

  • @sweet_heart …. sorry agar bura laga ho ? kya hai na agar mere ko koi abuse karta hai na to main kuchh zyada hi kharab reply karta hun…..

  • @Riju Basu…. u r the best…. now tell me…
if Dilwale is Semi Hit then how Ra.One and Don 2 are hits ?
Dilwale’s Budget is 100 crs and collection is 148 crs, so it is Semi Hit. Now with the budget of 105 crs (Don 2) and 140+ crs (Ra.One) collected only 105 & 115 crs respectively , how these are hits ?
@paidindicine, first you give me the reply

  • and tiger the real bewaquf…. indicine pe sabko comment karne ka haq hai.. chahe wo anti-indicine ho ya phirr SRK ka fan ho…. agar indicine bias nahi hai to phirrr indicine ek article kyun nahi likhta ke….
“if dilwale with budget of 100 crs & collection of 148 crs is only Semi Hit,
then how Don 2 and Ra.One are hits with collections of less than budgets ?”

Then I will say that Indicine is not Bias

  • Though j am aamir fan I respect srk for being a self made superstar and the hard work he puts in to his films barring last few disastrous performances.

  • Just awsome news…

This is vy…we called him king khan..

    Bade dilwala ..

And this move good for our next film FAN ..for selling it to distributor ..

    Love u Don..

Indicine what about news dat srk doing Anand rai next…

  • @star_wars Dear , first of all nobody knows d actual budget of Ra-One , I guess.
And it was dristibuted by Eros who r not revealing d actual landing price 2 any1.
Ra-one collects 115 cr apex on 2011 , with a 99 cr first week. That’s mean distributor share is pretty high for ra- one considering d fact DAT in 2011 very few films crossed 100 CR’s n 1st week collection s r even lower than that. If u notice then u will understand DAT distributers r not complaining about d film , only general public trolling for obvious reasons.
N Don 2 s not sold in a huge scale also , n 2011 evry movie which gets passed d magic figure considered as hits at least.
But from last 2 – 3 yrs khans films r sold n some unrealistic prices , so if any film doesn’t perform according 2 distribution plans then investors losses their money.
in 2016 a film like airlift s still considered a superhit or blockbuster tag by collecting a figure which ra one collected 5 yes back.
So I think sir u understand how big raone n don 2 s then .
    Thank u

    71 days 2 go #Fan

  • @star_wars n sir also remember that budgets n landing costs r always diff.
Eros always change d actual budget for raone or bajirao mastani.

  • @mr riju u r absoultly wrong…. 1st learn some fundamental abt boxoffice…. Its always d budget which decide d verdict….. 2nd? raone was sold in d & highest price in 2011 & distributers were expecting to beat 3idiot but couldnt sustain after d innitial….

  • Offical failure in India…Haha…Will we change the verdict now ? Salman is yet to give a flop after 2009. Srk has one to his name now…If he refunded money in India, then it means people did not make profit nor recovered investments…Still his fans will want semi-hit verdict in India…What now ? Too Much fun.

Anyways he refunded money, that is a good sign though. Respect for that but still 50 percent loss has been incurred which will have many leading distributors begging on streets. Anyways it is a business so that is fine but just saying Srk’s movies dont make money anymore at least in biggest market for Hindi film industry…Everything post that can fall like pack of cards…I don’t think any movie by any superstar in last 2-3 years has got this much negative publicity. For the first time media has extensively covered BM beating Dilwale. Kudos media at least you dont suck up to him anymore

  • @Riju Basu – Ra.One was an underperformer. Period. Even if you consider Krrish 3 as manipulated, even the lowest collections reported are by BOI and they are 185 crores. Produers reported 240 plus.

The point is Hrithik is only superhero and Srk failed there…By the way Ra.One even had Rajni sir’s special appearance !! Really the underperfomer of decade..It was expected to cross 150 even back then. Some were expecting it to cross 3 idiots and dabbang…

  • Sultan Salman will end Srk’s career. The clash will be final nail in the coffin according to me…Raees – 150 and Sultan – 250-275…Too much fun

  • SRK Fans dont go high, his star powe is less now, no distributer is taking risk of FAN ANd Raies, so now sRk come with this. but this will not help him.

    # FAN ka Button Hum Band karke rahege..!
