Dilwale Box Office Opening

Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale has taken a very good opening at the box office. The start was strong in circuits like Mysore, West Bengal, NCR, Bihar and South.

In Maharastra, the opening is good, but Bajirao Mastani seems to have affected the occupancy at quite a few centres in the state. In Gujarat, Dilwale is leading, but the occupancy isn’t as high as what a big film gets on a non-holiday.

The problem for Dilwale is the divide in business at multiplexes. Not only are the shows significantly lower than other big releases like Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, but the film is losing out on audience that are opting for Bajirao Mastani instead.

The clash is not similar to Bang Bang vs Haider clash last year, because Haider had a very limited audience and Bajirao Mastani is comparatively a much bigger film. So while the gap between Bang Bang and Haider was huge, the Bajirao and Dilwale battle is close enough to affect both films.

Sample figures from about 30 centres in the morning, suggest opening day business in the range of 18-19 crore. The film would have to pick up as the day progresses to ensure a bigger first day total.

Occupancy wise, it’s the 2nd / 3rd highest opening of the year. There are two ways to look at this. One, the release is smaller and the shows are lesser, so the occupancy has to be higher as compared to other bigger films. At the same time, Dilwale has the huge disadvantage of competing against another big film. So overall, it’s the third best opening of 2015.

  • I expected 22 Cr + but content is disappointing so my be less then that figure possible
By the way anything below 22 Cr will fall in indicine worst word of mouth scenario prediction that is 150 Cr max
    Too much fun
And I want my ticket money refunded

  • @ashish. Shows Ur nonsense comments. How much do u expect from a film which has less no of shows and screens.100 CRORES???. Obviously would be less but plz do worry as Dilwale is entertainin people a lot and would be the first preference once bm s grandeur bubble bursts

  • Over hyped as usual like other sarook Khan’s films. Weekend will be 65-70 crs , first week may 110-120 crs , lifetime would be 170-185 cr
Unless anything extraordinary happens but surely it wont be a blockbuster

  • @sultan psycho. Lets see who teaches whom a lesson. The shows are equally divided in major screens and apart from Mumbai belt every else bm is finding it hard to maintain pace with Dilwale.

  • Despite the strong opening, the screenings of
Dilwale are 65% of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo with
around 12000 shows per day compared to
18000 plus of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. If the
film can get a 20 crore nett plus number up on
day one, fair value for that would be close to
    30 crore nett.

  • Watched both…they are two different movies…difficult to compare bt should hail z effort n courage of z bm team to clash a movie against srk.dilwale is goin to win no doubt bt bm is a better film.

  • There are some fools who look at Bookmyshow and suggest the occupancy for the territories. BMS doesn’t even represent a significant size of the number of screens available for movies.

There is n doubt that BM has eaten into the viewership of Dilwale but like we all know BM is for the people who are strictly fans of SLB ,Deepika , Prinyanka or Ranveer or may i say like that kind of cinema. So there is no doutbt that BM is not rejected and will pickup over the weekend. But outside Maharastra in SS no takers from Monday.

Coming to Dilwale i would say noon ,eve & night shows will put up big numbers and 20 Plus is on the cards and even 22 on a non holiday with clash would be like a big record. The crowd will get sucked in for sure as this is a mass movie and SS will lap it up for sure. The WOM is comparatively better than HNY and slightly better than CE. The final number will depend on Monday on wards but dont see a problem at all

  • Hands down BM is going to chor bazaar straight. What a rubbish movie. Dilwale King most iconic role ever. Other Rohits movies are fail to excite but this one rocks. Blockbuster on its way!

  • OUTSTANDING REPORTS COMING FROM UAE!!!!
COLLECTIONS @ UAE OF DILWALE R 60% higher thn STAR WARS ND 400% higher thn bajirao mastani.

  • So, Abhi Crash shurooo.. Yeh toh hona hi tha… People are boycotting this D.. Lifetime should 180-190 crores….

  • Dilwale Movie Review: A Timepass Movie, One Time Watchable
    By Anand_The Original

Just finished watching Dilwale as a SRKian provided us free tickets.
First of all, the story has nothing new. It is a usual Bollywood story of Children from two rival gangs falling in love with each other.
Vinod Khanna played a gang leader and his rival is Kabir Bedi. SRK is an adopted son of Vinod Khanna, while Varun is his real son.
And Kajor and Kriti played the daughters of Kabir Bedi.
SRK and Kajor fell in love. However, Kabir Bedi decieved Vinod Khanna after inviting him to his house for the marriage talks of SRK Kajol.
In the gang figting broke out while Vinodand SRK go to Kabir and Kajol’s house, Kabir and Vinod killed each other.. However, Kajol mistook SRK of killing her father and she shot at SRK.
However, SRK didnt die but SRK and Kajol become estranged and parted ways. And they left the underworld and devoted their lives to take care of their respective siblings..
And Varun and Kriti met up as they grew up and fall in love with each other. But Kajol and SRK didnt agree because of their past lives…Some drama followed.
At the end, Varun and Kriti.. and SRK and Kajol would marry each other..

It’s a typical Bollywood and Rohit Shetty film. Its not as bad as HNY but not as good as CE. A strictly one-time watch…

Action scenes were kick-ass, comic moments sometimes really clicked and sometimes it didnt work.
Varun over-acted. SRK and Kajol Chemistry worked really well.
However, many romantic scenes beween them give de-javu moments of DDLJ. It would be better off for them if they had directly cut the scenes from DDLJ and pasted in the film.
Gerua and Janam Janam songs are awesome and suited the scenarios in the film very well.
The film drags and loses tempo in the 2nd half. It becomes really boring sometimes.

If you go into theatres expecting a mastepiece, you will surely disappoint. Go to the theatre thinking it will be a typical Rohit Shetty film.

My rating of the film: 2**/5*****

  • Saw it just now and there is nothing in the movie you will not like.. srk and kajol are the show stealers in this one. The word of mouth is also very positive. There were whistles And claps all around the theatre

  • Bajrangi Bhaijaan did 28 cr non holiday and with competition from The Bahubali which did over 100 cr business and dilwale 18-19 cr opening day. Is this called star power.
