Dil Bole Hadippa Movie Review

Dil Bole Hadippa is exciting for several reasons. It marks the return of the “Queen of Bollywood” Rani Mukherji, who has put her heart and soul into the making of the movie and also Shahid “Kaminey” Kapoor is slowly making his way up into the Top 5. Directed by Anurag Singh, Dil Bole Hadippa serves a mixture of Bollywood style romance with cricket!

Veera [Rani Mukherji], an ambitious girl hailing from a small village, dreams of playing cricket for India, with the Dhoni’s and Tendulkar’s of the cricketing world. Since girls aren’t allowed to play cricket, Veera turns into Veer, a man with a beard and turban. Rohan a county cricketer in England, returns to India to coach his father’s cricket team, which has been on a loosing spree for the last 8 years.

Rohan notices Veer and her cricketing brilliance earns her a place in the team. With a female in disguise playing for the men’s team, the secret is soon to be revealed.. What then, forms the rest of the tale.

Dil Bole Hadippa Review

What works for Dil Bole Hadippa

  • Its the spirited performances by the lead pair, especially Rani Mukherji, that makes Dil Bole Hadippa worth a watch this weekend. Rani proves her versatility yet again in a role that reminds you of her Bunty aur Babli act, as Veer she is flawless. Its refreshing to see her in a no rona-dhona role.
  • Shahid Kapoor does well too, he shares a warm chemistry with Rani. The portions that involve Veer and Rohan are very entertaining.
  • Anupam Kher in yet another DDLJ inspired role does well.
  • The climax including the match, is well direction and manages to make an impact.
  • Anurag Singh is a talented director and with the right script he is most definitely a director to watch out for.
  • Dil Bole Hadippa is a family entertainer, unlike Wanted, which should help its collections improve over the weekend.
  • The music by Pritam Chakraborty is good.

The negatives

  • While pre-interval portions suffer from slow pace and a disjointed screenplay, the second half is confused with the many themes it deals with.
  • The Shahid – Rani romance doesn’t work.
  • References to previous Yashraj blockbusters (like a Dhoom 2 poster in the backdrop, DDLJ like entry) tends to get irritating.
  • Sherlyn Chopra and Rakhi Sawant have nothing to do, except what they do best (read skin-show).

Overall, Dil Bole Hadippa is a feel-good entertainer that had the potential to be much better than what it turned out to be. While the first half is slow and tends to get boring 30 mintues into the movie, the second and more important half entertains. If you plan a family outing to theatres this weekend, this Rani Mukherji starrer is worth a watch.

Rating: ★★★☆☆

Other Notes : Releasing Dil Bole Hadippa and Wanted on the same day, is not really a mistake. Both films cater to different audiences and both should go on to do good business.

Finally, hats off to Rani, she proves yet again, just why she is one of the best leading ladies Bollywood has produced.

When we love someome we do love his movies even if it’s a crap. Now Akshay’s fans r comparing him with SRK, Why?! Akshay is a different character than Shahrukh, so is Aaamir, Salman, Hrithik. Akshay is a good actor.. yes.. but Shahrukh melted millions of hearts from his first movies as he’s very close to everyone’s heart and that’s the secret of him winning the title ( King of Bollywood) including his performance and talents, but Akshay has been acting for more than 15 years I assume and his movies weren’t very successful only since the last few years.

And.. I saw (Sing is King) 1st part today on line and could say that the movie is worthless and to be watched only for Akshay Kumar’s acting. The director is (fooling the audience!) as the King jums from a building and he was wearing a suit then he opens his (parachute)!! How this parachute was hidden under his suit?!!!

Therefore, I’m saying, when people love someone (blindly) and love his movies, they never notice any flaw in his project!

fathiya:Y donot u say same thing when a girl put beard n people donot reconize her…How foolish is director making fool of us??????And same thing for RNBJ…How can wife donot reconize her husband ????It is easy to say something to someone but first look yourself in mirror….Donot tell other foolish since all know who is idiot

  • Sudeep: the way you posted yr comment, in the 1st para.. made me have a doubt!! R u the same Nepali Sudeep or someone else? Myabe another commentator on this website with the same name!

I know that that Sudeep hates Shahrukh, and now you’ve found out the reason why ppl loved Shahrukh, and u hv admitted why Shahrukh is the king of bollywood.

Fine.. that’s not the issue.. you’re saying that the director of RBNDJ as well as the director of DBH are some idiots! and I would say: they are not.. I already mentioned this under RBNDJ’s movie review but I’ve to repeat it again to explain it to you.. yeah.. only beard, only moustach or spect. would never change the face of someone, the feature, and it would be recognized by ppl specially by the member of the same family, but in RBNDJ.. that was a different issue.. let me tell u why.. why it was hard for his wife to recognize him:

    1) Shahrukh as Sury was completely and 100% a different guy in his character than Raj, like a black and white different, Sury was a simple quiet guy, even the way he talked was different, was shy, nurd, didn’t know how to treat a woman, unlike Raj who was loud, flirting, wearing a colourful shirt and a tight jeans, dancing, joking, etc. that’s about their character.

    2) Raj didn’t hv a moustach, didn’t wear glasses, and had a different hair style and clothes… so their look was so different!
And if the look as well as the character of the 2 guys are just different, so it’s hard for anyone to say that they are.. one guy! ( and the director was not a fool like those directors in the past, in old indian movies.. I remember a movie for Dilip Kumar which he dissapears and everyone think that he’s dead, then he comes back home with the same look but wearing only a black sun glasses and a member in the family couldn’t recognize him!!! nowadays directors aren’t that idiot.. to convince the audience with only a moustach or a beard, so when they want to hide a character, so they transform him into something different..to convince the audience and Aditya Chopra did his best in this movie, to Show Raj in a completely different character.)

Well if I was Anoushka in the movie and married to a guy like Sury and then I met someone who is completely different from A-Z, and there was only similarity in the face.. the feature.. I’d hv had a doubt about them.. that they r one guy.
Moreover.. she kept herself in a distance, wasn’t close to her husband because she didn’t love him, didn’t sleep together, didn’t love each other, she was like a stranger to him.. so.. the director or the script writer were not idiots.

And about DBH.. the director turned Rani into a guy.. she was a girl.. and then she became a punjabi boy, with a beard, moustach, a veil on her head covering her hair( I don’t know what punjabi ppl call this which they cover their hair with) and it was just a funny movie and convincing.

Everyone isn’t like what u mentioned Sudeep.. would say a bad stuff about a good movie just because he or she didn’t like the actor! with me.. if I don’t like an actor I won’t watch his movie but I’d never allow myself to post a comment on a website or say some bad stuff about his movie just because I don’t like him!

  • Fathiya:I never said something bad abt the someone else.I donot like SRK but i never say i donot like his acting.I like him in chak de india,OSO(first part of 1970),Main ho na,karan arjun..But i donot like other movies like Don,dil se,rnbj,Billu(his acting was over confidence until last speech) and many more because i feel he is too proudly n thinks his is very smart……

I was enjoying his movies even i donot like him but After incident with Salman in katrina birthday party(Which i say again n again),i really hate tht guy as a personal view n his image……

I have seen video after accident happen and SRK was saying sorry in IBN7(english one) which show there was his mistake…

  • Fathiya:I donot wrote tht 1st para….It was U who wrote tht in the PREDICTION OF SINGH IS KING..I found and post tht and show wht u said to other director “fools” and Saying Ur fav.one nice….

  • Sudeep: I think when any comment is posted, on any page.. u just read the 1st 2 lines and u don’t read the whole!!! how many times I’ve answered this question which u r repeating again and again?!!!

I’ve answered Ronnie.. we’re all posting here comments according to our opinions, what we like or dislike.. when I talked about The Dark Night.. I didn’t say that Bahraini ppl hated the movie.. no.. there’re lots of ppl who are “blind” with the box office succes, even in our country.. the cinema halls were just full, and the movie was successful.. I said that I found the moving “boring”.. I don’t like these kind of movies.. even Angelina Julie’s movie Wanted.. the production was good but it was also like a cartoon movie.. a bullet would enter in someon’s head then comes out to enter in someone else’ head.. and the same goes for 2 or 3 other guys and finally stays in her head and kills her!!!!!!!!!! this doesn’t happen even in some annimation movies!! what a crap ppl love, whether they were in India, Gulf Arabia, or US.. whereever.. yeah.. a crap movie.. hahaha. and the scene where she’s riding a yellow car and the way she picks up a guy..hahahahah.. I just lauged at the this scene.. this movie is for teens, kids would admire it!

And the movie (Transformer) is a big big big big example of what I’ve said 100 of times on this website.. so Sudeep.. don’t repeat your questions.. then I’ve to ignore them.. I’m not interested to waste my time repeating like a parrot my answers on every page!

  • Sudeep: about JTYJN.. right.. you’re right.. the movie is for teens and kids to watch, actually for rats and cats ( and I was imagining while watching it in cinema.. that only cats and rats are sitting around and watching and enjoying it!!) probably it was a successful movie in India because 80% of the audience were of your age.. why not? If the population is big in India so it would make 60 or 70 crores.. why not? My niece who’s 17 years old loved the movie and she saw it 7 times so far.. age matters.. and when u grow older Sudeep.. come back after 30 or 40 years on this website, and tell everyone if u “still” love JTYJN

  • Fathiya:I have already mention tht i always watch the movie just to get entertain from it.I Donot care whether movie one time watch or many time watch.I donot think of future .
My point is that,U may like some film which i donot like and similarly some movie u like ,may not like by me.But,you cannot go away from the fact that Movies fate is really decide from boxoffice collection(May not be for some film, but majority of movie is decided)…Take for Example-OSO ,it was a boxoffice blockbuster,Which wasnot liked by you.but ,If movie was bad then,People r not so idiot that People watch tht.but Majority of people like it and it has become hit….No movie can be Hit without majority of people liking them….

Again take example of Dasvidaniya(actor was Vinay pathak). This movie was very good, every critics give this movie above 3 star out of 5 star ….But It donot click at boxoffice…..What was a reason????Majority of people donot like this movie eventhough if people watch this movie again in DVD ,i m sure they will like…….

U said if I watch JTYJN after 30 or 40 years ..u may be right i may not like it but Again my child or grand child will like the movie..This trend will continue…Movie will are good will never be dislike again in future..

  • @Fathiya

Ronnie: why should I waste a time discussing these issues with soneone who downgrades his own king of bollywood, who’s Shahrukh Khan.. whom you must be proud of.. who is the top actor, in order to praise the work of some western actos and directors!!!!!!!!!!! No other comments on what u said about western and their movies!!!!!!

But I’d say one thing.. I was a fan of Heath Ledge, I was sad when he died, and I loved the roles he played in some movies except his role in The Dark Night ( and don’t.. don’t u dare saying that I’m a fool or idiot.. because the idiot is the one who thinks that everyone in this world must love any movie which was a blockbuster at the box office, and the one who didn’t.. so he is an idiot!!! hahahahaha.

Which way u all think.. I don’t know?!

What a comment .. your previous comment for me shows the level of intelligence you have .. now you are bringing regionalism into this .. So according to you I should not praise anyone from hollywood or any other great movies because they are from some other film industry and I should always praise Shah Rukh for his buffoon act in Rab Ne bana di Jodi .. hahaha .. I am not calling you fool .. you are proving yourself to be a fool .. hahaha .. If I follow your advice then I would say even Tamil, Telegu or every other film industry is bad .. Kamal hasan is a bad actor .. because they are not from bollywood .. hahaha

And why am i telling you this .. you are one of the biggest hypocrite around to give me lecture on this .. Why dont you go and watch Bahraini movies and praise your Bahraini actors .. Why are you here promoting some actor from India .. Isnt it against what you asked me to do

now let me educate you here .. Oscar is not like filmfare where you can go and buy an award and show yourself as “king of bollywood” .. and Heath ledger won an Oscar for his role of Joker in Dark Knight .. So you can see how bad your choice is when the major film fraternity and some of the greatest movie critics of all times consider his acting to be a gr8 one and awarded him the academy awards, and you did not like it .. Come on be as honest as Sudeep .. Like he said that Akshay Kumar’s fans like Akshay Kumar’s movie even though they may be pretty bad similarly you can also say that you like SRK’s movies whether they are crap or not .. Dont compare SRK’s movies with some of the best movies of all times

Another comment which was hilarious was “I should be proud of him” .. Why should I be proud of him .. Even if I have to be proud of some one there are so many Indian personalities whom I can respect like let me tell you the names of some of them .. Mahatma Gandhi, Subash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Dr. Manmohan Singh, Atal Bihari Bajypayee, Amartya Sen, etc., etc., etc. .. they have done some great work for India and won great recognition for India .. What has Shahrukh done to make me proud .. Shah rukh is nothing but an attension seeking insecure person .. Just see his last incident when he tried to make a mountain out of a molehill .. when even our president didnt make any hue an cry about the immigration check, and he was crying hoarsely about it and promoting his new movie “My name is Khan” .. hahaha

Can you honestly answer one question .. are you really the age you claim yourself to be .. You seem like some dumbass bimbo fan of ShahRukh khan who is at max 15 yrs of age .. dont mind what I wrote .. Its just because your comments are so foolish that it makes me wonder

  • Sudeep: u r right in what u have mentioned.. and u gave two examples ( I saw OSO ofcourse) but I didn’t see the other one which u mentioned.. but u said what I always tried to explain.. u understood my point in a way and u didn’t in another way.. well ofcourse any movie’s fate depends on the box office collection.. that’s right.. not only the movie’s fate, but the stars too, the cast’s career also depends on the success of any movie at the box office.. I know all these facts.. and for sure.. a movie will not be a hit if the majority didn’t like it.. that’s also right.. absolutely right.. but what I always explain on this website is completely different and that’s what u still didn’t get it… but u hv answered it anyway by giving an example of a good movie which was critically acclaimed but didn’t do well at the box office ( AND THAT’S MY POINT)

Lots of movies r good and deserve to win at the box office but they don’t.. and yr example”proves” that if some movies didn’t do well so it doesn’t mean that they were some bad movies and vice versa.. yeah.. there’re bad movies which r poor in direction or the script and they flop – and they deserved to be flop – but also there’re movies which flop or do just average business but they deserve to be hit movies e.g. Dil Bole Hadippa.

  • Ronnie: Who’s fool in fact?! You.. or me?!! anyway.. a mad would never admit that he’s mad!!

I said u should be proud of Shahrukh Khan (as he’s the only indian actor who became so popular.. was selcted as one of the most 50 powerful men in this world.. there’s a statue of him at madam tusuads, he won millions of hearts overseas.. specially my heart.. became so popular and was invited to attend the Oscar or Golden Globe Awards to present an award.. and he WILL win the oscar in future.. and I’ll remind u one day!). So u must be proud as an indian, u got a talented actor like Shahrukh Khan who’s just.. unique!) he’s the best actor in bollywood.

And what u r saying!!!! you mentioned the name of Ghandi, and the rest!!!!! are they some actors in bollywood and I didn’t know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wished if we had Bahraini stars or Bahraini films.. unfortunately we don’t have because we’re muslim ppl,

It just won’t work for muslim girls to be in movies because they can’t dance and show off their body and can’t be touched by men on screen.. conservative families won’t allow their girls to be in films, not even the boys! there4 we watch hollywood, bollywood, iranian and some foreign language movies, and lots of Arabs watch Egyptian movies.

  • Wow hahahaha .. You really are crazy abt ShahRukh .. Aint you ? .. Your logics are so gr8 that it makes me wonder how come God created such a person .. hehehe .. And I guess you know nothing abt India except for Shah Rukh khan .. Thats why a simple advice for you .. stop watching Shah Rukh movies and watch some meaningful bollywood films .. you will get to know more abt India .. there are many good movies of not just bollywood but of other languages also which will tell you a lot abt India

Now coming to your point that the people I mentioned earlier didnt belong to bollywood .. So I will mention some of the bollywood who have made our country proud of them

Amitabh Bachchan – Amitabh Bachchan was named the “Greatest Star of the Millennium” by BBC online poll where he defeated many Hollywood legends such as Alec Guinness, Marlon Brando, Laurence Olivier and Charlie Chaplin.
In June 2000, he became the first living Asian to have been immortalised in wax at London’s prestigious Madame Tussauds wax museum.

Satyajit Ray – Ray’s work has been described as reverberating with humanism and universality, and of deceptive simplicity with deep underlying complexity. Praise has often been heaped on his work by many, including Akira Kurosawa(one of the greatest film makers of all times) , who declared, “Not to have seen the cinema of Ray means existing in the world without seeing the sun or the moon.” The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awarded Ray an honorary Oscar in 1992 for Lifetime Achievement.

Guru Dutt – He made quintessential 1950s and 1960s classics such as Pyaasa (Thirsty), Kaagaz Ke Phool (Paper Flowers), Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam (The King, the Queen and the Jack) and Chaudhvin Ka Chand (The Fourteenth Day Moon). In particular, Pyaasa and Kaagaz Ke Phool are now included among the greatest films of all time, both by Time magazine’s “All-TIME” 100 best movies and by the Sight & Sound critics’ and directors’ poll, where Dutt himself is included among the greatest film directors of all time. He is sometimes referred to as “India’s Orson Welles”. He is most famous for making lyrical and artistic films within the context of popular Hindi cinema of the 1950s, and expanding its commercial conventions, starting with his 1957 film, Pyaasa. Several of his later works have a cult following. His movies go full house when re-released; especially in Germany, France and Japan.

A.R. Rahman – Time magazine has referred to him as the “Mozart of Madras” and several Tamil commentators have coined him the nickname Isai Puyal (Tamil: இசைப் புயல்; English: Music Storm). In 2009, the magazine placed Rahman in the Time 100 list of ‘World’s Most Influential People’. In 2009, for his score of Slumdog Millionaire, Rahman won the Critics’ Choice Award, the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score, the BAFTA Award for Best Film Music, and two Academy Awards for Best Original Music Score and Best Original Song at the 2009 Oscars.

These are some of the film personalities I am proud of .. In fact ShahRukh is one of the few personalities I am ashamed of since he created such a fuss about nothing to gain some international popularity .. His movies are not even good enough to win a filmfare let alone the oscars .. Some people do dream big lol

You liked RNBDJ .. did it even win him an award at any single award function .. Hrithik got awarded in russia as well for Jodha Akbar .. In fact add him also in my list of film personalities of India I am proud of

  • Ak: you said you’re from my country.. Bahrain! Hi.. and welcome on this website.. but u didn’t post any review about DBH.. did u like it or not?

  • for all fan…DBH makes 4 star in Malaysia cinemas..plez search for DBH at TGV cinemas (malaysia)…more good than Wanted….i’m at malaysia…already watch this muvie..what can i say..i’m cry coz this movie so great & my lovely actress back in action! best perfomance this year! hopefuly….

  • Ronnie: Are u mad or what?!!!! Ofcourse I know Amitab Bachan!! if u used to read my old comments, you’d have known that I considered Amitab as the emperor and Shahrukh as the king.. actually, no one in bollywood could weep like Bigb.. I always admired his performance (but not his masla movies), I loved only few movies he did in the past which are Shahrabi, Khuda Ghawa and I found Satte pe Satta very funny in those days.. and from the latest I liked Bahgban, Cheeni Cum, Sarkar & Nishabd.

And.. who desn’t know A. R. Rahman?!! and I don’t know about the rest ppl which u mentioned

Oh.. by the way.. I didn’t see your comments about Salman Khan’s movie Wanted.. didn’t u see it yet?

  • Fathiya:There are many …

Biggest example:Andaz apna apna:I wonder how this movie was flop at that time.It is the funniest Comedy movie of india till date.

Another example of movie which doesnot deserve to be blockbuster was RNBJ:It was given mix reviews,Tarah adarsh giving this movie 2 star,Rajeev Masand from IBN7 giving this 2 star,Indicine team give it 2,and many more was just avg or below avg except from star news giving it 4 star….and, for me too,it was slow pace..it look like this movie is more than 3 hrs long eventhough it was around 2:45 hrs.I know u love this movie

But fact again remain that,SRK has huge fan and tht was the reason for the movie to be hit…..Similarly,sometime movies are made quite ahead of their time which may not work in boxoffice ie.Andaz apna apna(If this movie was released at this time, surely it will be biggest hit)

Hindi movies is all about the big star playing in it..Y actor like SRK,salman, hrithik, aamir, akshay collected big amount of money at boxoffice..Because of star power…Salman khan was having criticize but after wanted everything is going all right but Now,AKshay kumar will have same problem if his movie BLUE will flopped .But His star power will be same

  • Sudeep: no..no..no.. Sudeep you’re wrong.. sorry to say that.. you’re saying that RBNDJ was a blockbuster because of the star’s power.. because he’s the superstar of the movie, there4 the movie won.. no.. that’s not the reason.. now what about Salman’s Wanted.. Indicine Team gave it 2.5/5 and now it’s a blockbuster movie! if that was true, then why Salman’s movies in the past 2 years.. flopped!! we try to guess and to know what’s the main reason behind any movie to win or to flop, but we don’t know actually, even the directors/producers, heros & heroines don’t know the reason.. what I think the main reason for any movie to be a hit or a flop is measured by ppl only, the audience.. if he enjoyed it or not.. now u say that u found RBNDJ a boring movie.. and lots of ppl ( including my niece, my sister, my coursins, my brothers) found the movie very entertaining, very interesting.. it depends on your mood and your evaluation.. what u like or what u dislike..what makes u watch it and enjoy it and what makes u just..sleep and start yawning.

As I already mentioned.. people are different.. you’ll find someone is laughing and laughing while he’s watching a movie and enjoying it while the one who’s sitting next to him is yawning! that’s the way we are in fact. You’re wondering, not only u but lots of ppl including Indicine Team, about Andaz Apna Apna.. why did it flop! I remember my sister loved the movie and found it funny, but I didn’t.. I didn’t even continue watching it ( so.. I’m one of those ppl who didn’t like it and found the movie.. bad, so it flopped)..

So.. Fathiya doesn’t have a bad taste, as u guys always say, sometimes I do agree with the majority and sometimes I don’t!

  • hey its hasan DBH is a fantastic movie i loved it so much it shud surely be hit but the gud newz is dat the dvd is out so get ready and get it ur dvd
