A year after Dhoom 3, Aamir Khan has once again taken the box office by storm with his latest release PK. The film has not only performed well at the domestic box-office, but has also opened to outstanding numbers overseas.
There was a time, not too long ago, when Salman was the king in India, while Shahrukh Khan ruled overseas. But with Dhoom 3 and PK, Aamir has taken it to a different level altogether – what with the trade talking about his Ghajini and 3 Idiots days.

Aamir has also been responsible for giving the industry every landmark – he was the founder of the 100 crore club, 200 crore club and now PK looks set to cross 300 crore at the box office. If 3 Idiots was the first to cross 150 crore, Dhoom 3 was the first film to do 250.
It will be interesting to follow the day-wise comparison between Dhoom 3 and PK, because, if the Rajkumar Hirani film has to cross the 300 crore mark, it has to trend better than Dhoom 3.
In 5 days, Dhoom 3 was about 10% ahead with total collections of around Rs 149.46 crore (including Tamil and Telugu versions). PK has collected 135.28 crore.

It will be interesting to see but I found tough that pk will beat dhoom 3 first week recird though if we talk about Hindi version than it will break surely.But I think in 2nd week and 3 rd week pk will collect better than dhoom 3 which may take it higher than dhoom 3 in lifetime collection.
But because film Is not about masses still it giving a tough competition to a franchise action movie Dhoom 3 is said how well the movie appreciated.
Because pk had released 4800 screens ww,which is less than hny India 5000 screens total,ticket rates are higher but theme is not for masses freindly.In south movie got competition from Lingaa which is biggest hit of the year in south which had in its second week,the films music is no where close to success of bang bang,kick and hny so still upbringing the buzz to collect this amount talk about the brand Aamir-Raju combo.At last people know about their last fav movie 3i so these collection bound to happen.Cheers.

Dhoom 3’s figures are highly inflated by YRF. Remember Aamir said so that all 200 cr + figures are not believable. YRF & SRK are the shameless manipulators of box office figures. PK is the best movie since 3 Idiots.

@sss agree that Aamir was behind srk and Salman in 90 but your statement that he struggled for a hit was a childish thought.Yes I agree Aamir not huge in 90s still he had given two highest grosser with Raja Hindustani in 1996 which was his first atbb and Dil in 1990, in 1995 he had given 4th highest grosser of the year with Rangeela,1997 ishq also was 4th highest grosser, Ghulam was 6th highest grosser that year.Practically only 2000 was the year when Aamir disappointed with film like Mela which was in top 10 grosser of that year but was a poor movie.
While look Aamir presense in film industry since his debut.
1988- Qayamat se qayamat tak a cult film which was 2nd biggest hit that year open the market for love stories in 90’s.
1989- Raakh a disaster film which provides accolades for Aamir performance beg him his national award.
1990- Dil highest grosser of the year.
1991- Dil h ki manta nahi again a cult classic film.
1992- Jo jeeta wohi Sikandar which got best film award from Filmfare that year
1993- Him hai rahi pyar ke a well made family film which again got best film award.
1994- Andaz apna apna cult comedy
1995- Rangeela again a classic success while Akele him akele tum was a flip but a superb movie.
1996- Raja Hindustani – Atbb
1997- Ishq again a superb comedy film and highely successful
1998- Ghulam film got decent reviews and successful at no but Aamir performance highly appreciated.
1999- Sarfarosh by far one if the best performance of the year and classic film,his other films like Mann and 1947 earth was flop but still termed a good films

So look from 1988 to 2000 he showed his presence solid in film industry while in some year he got great success while in some he had quality films but every year he given something great to audience barring 2000, and after 2000 hr is simply unstoppable.
My problem is with srk fans that they always find excuses to undermine Aamir success instead of enjoying his success and achievement.This made me to downgrade srk films and success by giving the same excuses for srk success which their fans gave for Aamir.So its always been tit for tat for my side.

As per intellectuals like @gautam Ghajini and dhoom 3 were crap or had no novelty than why Aamir signed that film,Aamir said in Interview that he do the film in which he thought convincing and able to enhance his talent,movies like Ghajini and Dhoom 3 was masala entertainer but in both movies Aamir had did challenging role, Both movies got positive reviews from critics and audience as well.Aamir never said that other sign film without reading script but because it is general question of reporters from him that why his movies are good compare to others so he simplified the reason.as per @gautam Ghajini and dhoom 3 given Aamir highest grosser of all time,so I want to ask him why not srk signed a film which give him that achievement.You guys are always pointing different reason to degrade Aamir’s achievement. As per @yy mithaiwala Dhoom 3 was poor performance if Aamir but Shaahid in haider is better than Aamir’s pk character because critics rated his performance higher,so as per him srk deserves the best actor award in popular category this year for hny but Aamir performance is crap,who told you man if you believe too much in critics than both if you guys just Google the Ghajini and dhoom 3 reviews and read what critics said about Aamir.

Its simple observation I read about Aamir haters or non fans that Dhoom 3 make Aamir bigger,there is no Aamir contribution.Look at the trending of Dhoom 3 after first weekend,still slightly higher than PK,its not because of brand,its because of Aamir performance which exactly match what audience want from that film,if brand was so big than content and performance than I think srk or salman should have only all time grosser from last 8-10 years.
Dhoom 3 was loved by people who bought tickets to watch that in theatre,may be some not like that film while other rated it below than dhoom prequels but majority feel that movie was Paisa Vasool.
Whether its performance,rating and collection all proves that people accept the content and film big time and I don’t think Aamir need to answer his haters that why he signed that film.

@tiger 10:49am so what Salman also struggled with Jai ho which was his non holiday releases, Aamir didn’t have more appealing genre movies in 2010-2012 even in 2010-11 he don’t have any significant release,but in 2012 he did a remarkable movie. in 2013 salman was not had release but in 2014 Aamir will cross kick so salman beat Aamir in 2012 and Aamir in 2014, equal dude.

PK is the finest movie ever created in Bollywood. I think Allah has enlightened Aamir khan during Haj. PK Movie is nothing but spreading Islam.
1) PK Movie conveys idol worshipping is wrong and it is coming from fake God. This is exactly written in Quran.
2) PK Movie preaches God is only one who created all of us and not these Idols. Exactly as mentioned in Quran.
3) PK Movie conveys that Jesus is not god…reference is the church scene where PK asks God suli pe lataggaya? for my sins? Maine kya kiya?… This is mentioned in Quran.
4) PK Movie conveys that there is only one true religion Islam by Indirectly portraying even the alien who dont have any knowledge of any of the world religion at the end believe in one God and not believe in idols or wearing amulets.
At the end it shows that the wrong mindset of hindu scholar that muslim will cheat all the time is wrong.

I mean I though nipun was mad when he watched Lootera all alone in an empty theatre for three hours and came out thinking “wow the audiences loved this movie so much so that they rushed out the cinema hall before me to go home n write up positive reviews” or ‘sss khan’ who thought crappy new year was the most patriotic movie EVER surpassing Lagaan but you take the biscuit.

Rohit Shetty I still feel is the best ‘masala’ director. He makes fast paced movies which aren’t crude like Prabhu Deva.
But to say he is better than Raju Hirani is like comparing a pond and an ocean!

Rohit Shetty is the worst thing that has happened to Bollywood in last 10 years.
Farah Khan is the 2nd worst thing that has happened to Bollywood in last 10 years.
Neither of them are remotely close to being a film maker and are born garbage.
They have cheapened the name of “masala” genre into loudness, extreme physical comedy etc. Bollywood was fine before them. You still had David Dhawan who was making Haseena Maan jayegi & Deewana Mastana. Masala only meant “doube meaning” dialogues with terrific timings from Govinda-Kadar Khan-Shakti Kapoor trio.
