Celebrating the 14th anniversary ‘Devdas’, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has said the film will always remain special to him. He thanked the director of the film, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and the “beautiful ladies” (Madhuri Dixit Nene and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan).
“‘Devdas’ will always be special. Thank you Bhansali.. the beautiful ladies and everyone. Late nights, long shoots and so much love” Khan tweeted.
Shah Rukh played the iconic character of Devdas, a character written by Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay in his 1917 novel ‘Devdas’. He was only 17 years old when he wrote the novel.
As many as 16 feature film adaptions have been made on the novel. Two of them are hugely popular. Bimal Roy’s 1955 film Devdas starring Dilip Kumar in the lead, a film that remains a classic nearly 61 years after its release. And Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s adaptation of ‘Devdas’ starring Shah Rukh Khan in the lead.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan played the role of Paro, Devdas’s love interest and Madhuri Dixit Nene as Chandramukhi, a courtesan who falls in love with Devdas.

Am not a person to cry while watching movies. But if there is any ending which could make one cry it has to be this movie.
The climax scene is just one of the best climaxes I have ever seen. The scene where Ash runs towards SRK and he is lying outside her house. Tears trickling down from SRKs eyes. And suddenly when he sees her coming close you could see some life and strength returning in him. But just as she reached almost there the gates close down and SRK breathes his last. Epic climax !!!!
SRK sir and SLB sir can we please see you coming together for such another classical movie.
A masterpiece ! It was one of the films that helped me discover indian cinema, I saw it when it came to Cannes and what an experience it was. Bhansali’s genius, SRK’s wonderful acting, Aish and Madhuri were mesmerizing, and also we shouldn’t forget Jackie Shroff who was impressive. Devdas is a classic !

Srk has delivered his career best performances in movies like chake de , kabhi ha kabhi na, Baazigar and Devdas etc … I really really loved these four movies superb acting by srk !!
Last scene of kabhi ha kabhi na is equal to entire acting of bollywood . That intense and innocent look of srk in kabhi ha kabhi na will never be forgotten at least for me.
And Devdas was also brilliant film especially srk’s splendid acting …!!!
If God asks me which actors are the best when it comes to pure ,intense and innocent acting then I will put Srk ,Aamir and ajay name first … !!!!!!!!!!
You need to be an actor par excellence to play such a complex character already played by someone who’s considered to be the finest actor of Indian cinema.
Srk had to endure a lot pains while essaying the character of deva.His professional life was at a low after PBDHH’s failure.And the movie was considered to be jinxed with multiple delay and accidents on the sets.Still the hard work paid off with the movie being remembered even after 14 years.
Grand sets, beautiful costumes, hero and heroine madly fall in love for each other, family member try to separate hero and heroine… hero dies in the end/sometimes both hero and heroine dies in the end. This is most Sanjay Leela Bhansali film. Anyway SRK’s acting was very good. I don’t know what happened to him after My Name is Khan. Fan (Gaurav) was good though.

After 14 years no one actually remembers the BO collections of Devdas . But this film will always be remembered by people as long as India keeps on making films – irrespective of collections .

Sharukh is most overrated actor of all time.
None of these scenes is the best scene of the movie . The best scene of the film was the climax scene where Devdas (SRK) breathes his last as the gates of the mansion closes before Paro (Aishwariya) . Devdas covered with red flowers , lying below a tree , and Paro on the other side of the gate weeping helplessly – such a scene won’t be created again .
Also this is the scene which makes Bhansali’s Devdas better than Bimal Roy’s Devdas . Whatever anyone may say , Dilip ji’s Devdas did not have such a moving climax !
Do note that SRK has no dialogues in the last scene , which proves the capability of his expressions . Hope he does more movies like this .
