Two big films are set to release during the Christmas weekend in 2017. Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ director Aanand L Rai’s next film, which centres around a dwarf, has been officially announced for Christmas 2017.
There have been rumours that the Eros International and Colour Yellow Productions’ venture, could feature Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. The star cast announcement will be made soon.
Meanwhile, Rajkumar Hirani has also said that his next directorial venture, starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead, is targeting a Christmas release in 2017. Hirani’s last two films, 3 Idiots and PK, released during Christmas and went on to become the highest grossers of all time. His next film is based on the life of actor Sanjay Dutt.
The script, Hirani says, is ready and the film will go on floors in July this year.
Two big films, two acclaimed directors and possibly two fantastic actors.. all targeting the best weekend for film business in a year - Christmas.
To all the people saying Avatar 2 would affect it, Bollywood has a completely different audience compared to Hollywood. Star Wars 7 was probably biggest film in recent history, but it hardly made any difference to Bajirao and Dilwale.
Indian movies do not release with dubbed language in overseas, majority of business of Indian movies in overseas come from NRIs.

Rajkumar hirani’s sanjay dutt biopic
its 23 months away so too early for anything. in terms of director i like both rai and hirani and the pair of them know their game very well if shahrukh is in the movie anand l rai will have the advantage and bigger opening lifetime will depend on word of mouth and screen nos and timings with clash no film can acheive its potential. eros will NOT back out so its upto hirani to change the date (the topic of the film he needs to its his ambitious project for him)
one thing i would like to ask hirani for SANJAY DUTTS biopic you pick ranbir – SERIOUSLY telling me you couldnt have done better!!!
