Chennai Express will only be the second film in the history of Indian Cinema to cross the 200 crore mark. The Shahrukh Khan starrer needs to collect just Rs 2.71 crore to join the elusive ‘200 crore club’.
With the film still going strong at the box office, history is likely to be made on Friday as the Rohit Shetty entertainer could finally go past the lifetime business of 3 Idiots (202.5 cr).
On its second Wednesday, Chennai Express collected 4.51 cr at the domestic box-office. The total net box office collections in 13 days now stands at Rs 197.29 cr. The film is likely to collect around 44.5 crore in its second week, falling just short of the 2013 record of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani which collected 46.8 crore in Week 2.
The overall record for the highest second week collections is held by 3 Idiots (Rs 56.5 cr)

Actually as far as record of 3i is concern let me tell u all of indicine users that 3i released 4 years ago and smacked all records.At that time ticket prices are not just llike today plus there is not too much holidays in line but at that time masterpiece crossed 100 and 200 crores.i believe we cant compare 3i to CE.
In this 4 years each n every superstar deliver many movies but none of them cross 3i lifetime record so now CE should set atleast 230 to 235 crores so that we can say that now its very difficult for coming movies to break CE.Lets c wht going on in coming months then we have a clear picture that who really superstar is . . .

3 Idiots was the most liked film with excellent word of mouth, also it released on about half the screens so the number of people who watched the film in the first 10 days was much lower. The way 3 Idiots trended, none of the other movies have. It put up record collections in its second week (46 crore) and third week (21.65 crore). The word-of-mouth for Chennai Express isn’t close to as good as 3 Idiots, and the drops during the working days was also much higher
200 crore is great as srk is great. I think lifetime total will be 220 crore.

He is excellent in comedy and Second to govinda only. He need to act in those kind of movies. Cant say abt boss but it’s entertainment and gabbar looks promising. Hope all goes well. Akki is better all rounder actor than salman, Amir, hritik. But these 3 r far bigger star than Akki. Srk is in different league along with dilip kumar and bachchan. These 3 actors have maintained both mass and class with ease. That y they ruled longer period and destroyed their opponent.

3 Idiot is an iconic movie no matter where in the record book it is placed. It looks bad only when you try to de-glorify other films in the name of it with such silly logic.

“Chennai Express” looks unstoppable and already crashed almost every record possible. Film crossed two huge milestones today at domestic box office and overseas.
Film was extraordinary in overseas and added 11 more cr on weekdays in 2nd week. Film has collected 100-100.50 cr in 2 weeks which is not only record but a tough one to break anytime soon.
Film did exceptionally well today at many places in India. CP, Delhi, Bihar, Bangalore and Mumbai were close to 40% overall and few cinemas recorded close to 70% occupancy which is unbelievable for a film in 2nd week.
As per early estimates, film should collect 3.65 cr nett today which means film has collected close to 44 cr nett in 2nd week which is 3rd highest ever 2nd week only behind 46 cr nett of YJHD and 56 cr nett of “3 Idiots”. Thus film has collected 201 cr nett plus in 2 weeks straight and now only 2nd film to do so.
Film will cross 202.45 cr nett of “3 Idiots” tomorrow and that is a historical moment at box office for any film that too in 15 days. Film has also crossed 370 cr gross which means 400 cr gross is possible. It seems that this express will stay in cinemas for some more time.
