Chennai Express is on a record-breaking spree at the domestic box-office. The film has collected Rs 28.06 crore on its second day, taking its cumulative total to 67.93 crore.
The Shahrukh Khan starrer has already broken all previous weekend records, and now has an outside chance of crossing the 100 crore mark today.
Chennai Express also overtook the second day business of Ra One, setting new records for the ‘highest second day’ and ‘highest Saturday’ collections.
The film is likely to collect around 95-100 crore in its first weekend (including paid previews), as Shahrukh Khan is set to be crowned as the box office king of both the overseas and the domestic markets.

This shows that Star Power is only one of the major factors for opening … Releasing Date is equally important. Salman was enjoying this date as many as 4 times and churned out blockbusters and this time was SRK’s turn and more or less his film performed at par with sallu’s. 1) Star Power ( SRK=Sallu=Aamir > Hritik=Akshay > Ranbir > ajay and others )
2) Film Genre ( MASS appealing MASALA ACTION COMEDY > Romance > Thriller > offbeat )
3) Film quality or Director ( Like Rajkumar Hirani is one of the best director in bollywood and like Barfi earned a lot)
4) Release Date ( Like EID is proving one of the best dates for big openings)
5) Release circumstances ( As Srk previous few films have adverse consequences and it affected.)
6) Marketing and promotion ( Now a days it is a must to big get openings)
7) Multicasting ( like welcome was )
