After all the euphoria following the release of Chennai Express last weekend, its time for the most dreaded day in movie business – FIRST MONDAY. A day that more often than not decides a films fate the box office. After all, for a film like Chennai Express, Monday would decide if the film has any chance of crossing the magical 202 crore figure set by 3 Idiots way back in 2009.
So, has the film sustained well on the Monday? Good news is, it has. The drops are normal all over. The occupancy for the morning shows was around 30-35%, which is pretty decent for Monday.
All India drop from Friday seems to be around 50-55%, which would mean Monday collections of around 13-14 crore.
Ticket prices are usually slashed during the weekdays, but given the response that Chennai Express has received over the weekend, a few exhibitors have decided not to reduce ticket prices today. Tickets are still selling for weekend rates, or a little cheaper. For example, prices were hiked from Rs 150 to Rs 200 per ticket at a BIG Cinemas multiplex for Chennai Express last weekend. Today, a ticket is being sold for Rs 180, which is slightly lower than the weekend rates, but still higher than what was charged for normal non-holiday releases.
15cr plus may be possible be lets see what will happen.

There’s nothing more to prove.. Even in his so called lowest phase of his career Srk was constatly giving 100+ movies.. Whereas Salman delivered 7 flops in a row (yuvraj, mr. &mrs khanna , veer , god tussi great ho etc) …. Then SK discovered his mojo by doing masala pot boilers and tasted maximum success domestic (overseas no one could ever challege srk).. Now SRK has done a masala film and the results are for everyone to see.. Beating sallu in his own game … Victory never tasted so sweet.. Even if in coming times Sallu manage to break CE records (I know not going to happen but for argument sake)he will never get near the global collections of CE.. Srk rocks
Earlier in early 90’s Srk was pitted against Aamir and sallu den late nineties with Hrithik and den due to lack of competion Amitabh bachhan.. Den Aamir again followed by Akshay and now Salman. Its for everyone to notice SRk has been the only permanent barometre of comprasion.. Give it to him guys (even the haters) he deserves it .. He’s the supreme one the biggest bollywood will ever have…
Even wen Great Sachin walks in to bat the pressure on him is to score a 100 but with Srk 100cr is not enuff he’s expected to cross the higgest 202 cr (3 idiots) everytime (every release) and with dis he seems to hv broken dem all .. Love u Srk..

and at the same time some of srk fans are claiming that CE will break 3 idiots record, but they forgot some important points, i will mention some of them.
1- 3 Idiots released almost 4 years back. CE released in 2013.
2- 3 Idiots was released on 1150 screens. CE released on 3400 screens.
3- ticket price has changed a lot since that time.
So please don’t compare CE with 3 Idiots. and at the same time 3 idiots is one of the finest movie of Indian cinema
@Ahsan Khan, valid points. But the reason behind all the hype behind breaking the 3 Idiots records is because no film has managed to do it in the last 4 years. If 3 Idiots released today, it would easily collect 250-275 crore.

Now i want to see more class movies fron srk like vhak de india and mnik. For i always know that if i want a masala film i can root to salman or ajay or akshay. I would love to see good cinema from srk and aamir. When everyone performs well its good for us audience. We get more goodies.

Both were iconic, path breaking, anti-hero movies unlike any Bollywood have ever seen.
Hell, Even Anjaam will collect 130 crores on SRK Madhuri star power alone.
DDLJ will probably collect 400 crores & so will HAHK.
3 Idiots is not in the same league as Baazigar, Darr, HAHK, DDLJ as far as CLASSICS are concern.
I can imagine Andaz Apna Apna collecting more than 3 idiots today.

I congratulate all the SRK fans, but:
1. Each year prices are increasing, due to 10% inflations. This year even Aashiqui 2, BMB, Ranjhana did great business due to the factor, which was unthinkable in earlier years.
2. The nos. of screens are increasing.
3. Amir Khan is the creator of 100 crores and 200 crores club. Even after 4 years nobody have beaten it.
4. Similarly, Salman is the creator of 1st day 10 crores [or may be Amir-3 idiots], 1st day, 20 crores, 1st day 30 crores.
6. Salman is only actor to give 5 back to back blockbusters [still counting].
5. SRK, is too creator of 1st weekend 100 crores, which is tough to beat in next 2-3 years, provided there is big holiday on friday in the weekend. My love and best wishes to him.
6. We do expect Krish 3 of Dhoom 3 to break the 1st day record, and which eventually will be beaten by Salman himself in next Eid, with KICK by a big margin.
Chennai express was the most fun i have had in years. Most movie have 1 or 2 hillarious dialogues but with chennai express we were laughing all throughout the movie. If it makes it better than i am not even a srk fan but still liked the movie

DCH will never get close to even 200 crores. Even in 2001, it was a SEMI HIT. its a ideal, typical MULTIPLEX movie only for niche audience.
It will be rejected on SINGLE SCREENS because it lacks mass entertainment. Its too wannabe, preppy, western movie for chaiwalas, rikshawalas & paanwalas.
DCH will collect Bhaag Milkha Bhaag like 104 crores at its very best.
Even if CE makes 15 crores per day next 7 days, it will break 3I domestic record. Anyway, worldwide collections of CE will be unbetable for many many years to come.
