The last highest grosser of the year (HGOTY) that did not feature Salman Khan or Aamir Khan in the lead, was Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Om Shanti Om’ back in 2007.
In other words, for the last 8 consecutive years, Aamir or Salman have topped four years each – Ghajini (2008), 3 Idiots (2009), Dabangg (2010), Bodyguard (2011), Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Dhoom 3 (2013), PK (2014) and Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015)!
With Sultan all set to touch the 300 crore mark, 2016 is likely to be yet another year when the battle will be between the Top 2 superstars for the ‘Highest Grosser of the Year’.
The other big releases of the year have practically no chance – because of clashes or unfavourable release periods – to get anywhere close to the total of ‘Sultan’.
While there is very little to differentiate between Salman and Aamir, there is one interesting point that shows Aamir has held the upper hand in the last few years.
Since 2008, each time Aamir had a release ready for Christmas, he has achieved the following:
- All his films have become the highest grosser of the year
- All his films have gone on to become the highest grosser of all time (a record that has eluded Salman for the last many years, inspite of his super stardom)
- All Aamir films have also crossed a major milestone - Ghajini was the first film to 100 crore, 3 Idiots first to 200, Dhoom 3 was the first to 250 and PK in 2014 became the first to go past 300.
With plenty of open weeks and the best release period of the year – the odds will be in Aamir’s favour once again. However, he doesn’t have a top director like Rajkumar Hirani or a major franchise like Dhoom this time around – much like Ghajini in 2008.
If Dangal tops, the gap between Aamir (6 career HGOTY) and Salman (9 career HGOTY) will reduce to 2. Otherwise, Salman will earn the 10th highest grosser of his career and the gap between him and the rest will be 4 films or more.

Even 2007 may not have belonged duniya ka sabse chota star if Welcome and Taare Zameen Par hadn’t clashed. Otherwise it would have been Akshay or Aamir.

In 1998 a Black Buck & 2 Chinkaras (that are endangered species & therefore cannot be killed) were allegedly killed on a hunting trip that included Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Amrita Singh, Tabu & Sonali Bendre. Somehow while the ‘mor’ was ‘naaching’ in their ‘hivdas’ they wanted to shoot some endangered animals. And they did & ate them too. But did they? Out of all only Salman was charged for killing a black buck & a chinkara. He also served time for the same in Jodhpur jail. No charges were framed against the others. The case carried on & on & on as our cases do for two main reasons 1) Having big bucks (sometimes even blackbucks….different from the Black Buck who passed) or 2) Not having big bucks. Salman of course falls inthe 1st category of big bucks ( I don’t know their colour & we should not be racist by commenting) Sonow after 18 years he has been acquitted of chargesin both cases. Some questions come to mind 1) Who killed the Black Buck & the Chinkaras? 2) Did the driver kill them? 3) Did nobody kill them? 4) Do judges decide according to Buckworth-Lewismethod? ( What? Er…it’s Duckworth-Lewis?) Sorry! 4) Who will pay for the mental torture that Salman has had to go through now that he has been declared not guilty? 5) Doesn’t the nation want to know the truth? ( preferably very loudly) What? The nation doesnt want to know? No? Why? Oh you don’tsay…..busy spending bucks on Sultan….Er….then let it pass….yeah the Buck, what else? Dear, deer! Surreal!!!??

No worries for dangal…as sultan is a story of a romeo-wrestler..dangal can provide diffrnt xperience to the viewers..if it has entertainment like sultan then 300cr easily

mohenjo daro and dangal
REASONS:-
1.) mohenjo daro —–> hr-ashu combo is the enough reason to watch mohenjodaro & after watching the trailer my expectations from action scenes of md increased very much and hritik never dissapoints when it comes to action be it krrish ,dhoom 2 or bang bang
and i have full faith on ashutosh he is a great story teller yes a bit dissapoint by the vfx but its okay bcoz it dont have a budget like bahubali or robot 2
2.)DANGAL —-> the reason is simple Aamir khan .He is master in making a normal movie amazing i have full faith on him and he never dissapoints .
V want andaz apna apna 2/ a movie featuring 2 mega khans…b4 they loses there grip @boxoffice becoz of ageing

SRK did not give HGOTY after 2007.but he have both highest success ratio and hit ratio among khans or every actor .this shows he is the most consistent actor of Bollywood.

1st point xmas fall on sunday …so it is very difficult to maintaine the pace of movie ..on weekday ..!! Weekend surly huge but after weekend ..no hirani / no big brand ..!
So first week around 170 cr ..2nd week 60 cr third week 27 rest 20 cr ..! 277 cr maximum ..may be 285 cr ..!
But mixed word of mouth ..first week 167 cr 2nd 52 cr third week 24 cr forth week end remaing week 15 cr ..!! Lifetime 258 -265 cr…!!
But let see he is a Aamir ..everythink possible ..for him..!
Both are respected and great actors.
But I think dangal will beat sultan.
Aamir Khan itself is a brand..

Don’t worry Raees will beat every record if release date is good. so indicine has written clearly with clashes and without favourable release date one cannot have good collections. These other Khan are basically depend on good releases dates to become big stars what a shame .
