Brothers has fared poorly at the box office on Monday, giving the film little or no chance of crossing the 100 crore mark – which was the least a film of this size should have collected.
The Akshay Kumar – Sidharth Malhotra starrer had to collect somewhere around 7-8 crore to give the film any chance at the box office, but early estimates suggest that the first Monday business will be around the 5.5 – 6 crore mark.
Since Brothers had to collect more than 130 crore to be a clean-hit at the box office, the Monday business has sealed the fate of the Karan Malhotra directed film. The 4-day collections of Brothers is at around the 58 crore mark and the film will end Week 1 with net box office collections of around 70-71 crore.
Abhishek Bachchan’s All Is Well and Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Manjhi releases in theatres next week, both are small films that are not expected to take a huge initial but will rely on word-of-mouth publicity. It remains to be seen how well Brothers holds up in its 2nd weekend.
So what went wrong for Brothers? A section of the trade / industry has already put the blame on critics for thrashing the film and thereby creating negativity in the media. While that could be one of the many reasons why Brothers has failed to sustain at the box office (other reasons being lack of interest among the family audience, Akshay Kumar films consistently failing to take a decent initial at multiplexes, economics etc), the trade also needs to be reminded that most 100 crore plus grossers in Bollywood were also panned by the critics. Bang Bang, Bodyguard, Rowdy Rathore, Happy New Year, Housefull 2, Grand Masti, Ready, Son Of Sardaar.. the list of critically panned films that were successful at the box office is endless. The audience is smart enough to decide if a movie is worth a watch in theatre or not.

Real victim here is Sid..! He was misled by the two karans- he must have thought that with it being a remake then he would get a sizeable role but no he didnt n in the end that greedy gobar was allowed to ruin this film…! Poor Sid
This year Akshay Sir’s all three movies was excellent.
My favorite was Gabbar Is Back it could be release on 15th August I am sure Gabbar definitely achieved 150 crore +
For Brothers its good movie for me because of Akshay Kumar and MMA. Reason behind movie’s failures its genre which is not suitable for couples and family audiences

i as akshay fan am really disappointed with brothers. Seriously akshay needs to choose his films wisely now. Akshay is himself to blame for this. There was a time during 2006-10 when his movies took record breaking opening be it welcome, singh is king, kambhakt ishq, blue and even tees maar khan are a few among those, however, he also starred in craps like joker, thank you, boss. Multiplex audience are fed up of akshay now, this is denting the prospects of genuine good films like special 26, baby, holiday, gabar etc otherwise all these films would have easily crosed 120 crore mark

as babaji said boycott bb but people r boycotting brother, too much fun. I just want to say that due to successful run of bahubali and bb people do not have enough penny in their pocket to spend for brother . Had drishyam not released in the middle of this movies then there was a chance to earn slight higher collection. As one can count the total collection of bb and bahubali(which affected bb by 20-25cr, had it not release in hindi dubbed then bb would have surely beat pk) which will be almost 440-450cr. This is the only reason, had bahubali and bb not done well in the boxoffice then there was a chance for brother to earn little higher collection even with negative word of mouth. Even jai ho failed bcas d-3 had collected huge amount but agneepath collected well as dabang-2 had not collected huge amount and agneepath trailer was well received by audience. From this one can know that atleast one month gap is needed for a big film if the other big film perform well in the boxoffice.

I m feeling bad for akshya sir,he is very hard working actor and always experiment ,the fact is akshya loosing his star power because of some stupid films and banner .also he needs to act in less movie ,2 movie in a year is good thing but 4 movies in a year is not good,still he is a superstar and command huge fan following , now on he needs to select script carefully and dynamics of business in bollywood has been changing , he needs to compatible with today’s business prospective .I hope he will come back with sib and regain his star power again like he used to have in 2007-2008

And yes, about Drishyam, a movie outing costs about 2000 bucks for an entire family. The Hindi version of the film had absolutely nothing new to offer for the audience who had already seen the other versions. Ajay fans would watch it anyway.
Comparison between Brothers 4th day and Drishyam’s 10th day makes no sense either. Drishyam Day 4 3.65 crore, Drishyam Day 10 5.04 crore. 2nd Sunday is a holiday, which gives the collections of WOM films a huge boost.

to all akshay fans!! i noticed one thing since quite long time about salman and aamir fans. they always create negativity about akki’s movies. So i request all of you to stop watching salman and aamir films and let all akshay fans who don’t have access to internet to avoid their films as well. after this we have to support SRK and R Roshan films.

No doubt movie was awesome i watched 2 times i am saying it because i am a MMA UFC WWE fan so i enjoyed very much.
But genuinely Public don’t want to see Blood therefore Brothers did not worked and did not picked up collection in Monday.
I guaranteed Brothers will achieve at least 100 crore.
