Brothers has shown a noticeably big drop in business on Day 3 at the box office. A small drop on Sunday was expected, as Saturday was a holiday for Independence Day. But the drop at some centres was as high as 30% from Saturday.
Given the costs, the target for the film was a 60 crore plus weekend, but the first weekend collections of the film is Rs 52.08 crore net.
Monday now becomes extremely crucial for Brothers. It has to collect in the 7-8 crore range to pass the ‘Monday test’ and go on to be a reasonably good grosser.
Expectations aside, considering the genre of the film and its limited appeal towards the family audience, Brothers has done well in its first weekend at the box office. The film is Akshay Kumar’s highest first weekend grosser, beating the collections of Rowdy Rathore.

- Friday (Day 1) – 15.2 crore
- Saturday (Day 2) – 21.43 crore (40% growth)
- Sunday (Day 3) – 15.45 crore (28% drop)

Akki need to take a break of one year. Do only one movie a year. Audience is getting too many movies from him hence nobility factor is missing.He is a brilliant actor and a superstar but 4 movies a year is way too much.

The weekend collections of Brothers are decent . I expected Brothers to do 60 CR but it is less than 8 CR . Today is a very important day for Brothers if the film sustains it can do good for itself but if the drop is big then it will be Average or Above Average . I have not seen Brothers . I am hearing mixed reviews . Some people are praising the movie while some are criticising . My friend saw Brothers and he did not like the movie . He is a huge fan of MMA . He said the movie is disappointing . He said the movie was too sentimental . He also said he expected lot of action but he said the action is not enough . Few points i said before but Akki fans not agreed with me on them before release of Brothers & now they saying it…
1.Siddhart Malhotra cant act.
Ek Villain success was due to music & Ritesh’s superb performance.
2.Karan Malhotra is not a good director.
His screenplay pace is very slow & it makes films boring.
Agneepath was also a boring film.
But Hrithik fans always defend that point but Brothers proved it.
Agneepath was also had slow pace but it worked due to Sanjay Dutt & Rishi Kapoor’s brilliant performances & chikni chameli.
I really failed sad when i heard Salman leaves Shuddhi but now i am happy for that because you cant expect anything great from Karan Malhotra.
So what ever Brothers collect is only due to Akki & no other plus point is present in film rather than him.
Budget: 115 CR
Business: ~100 CR.

Feeling bad for AK as I belive he can do better and can give blockbusters. But the ground reality is now in bollywood only Hrithik n khans can carry a film solely on their shoulders. Other senior actors have lost touch and juniors are not matured enough to deliver big films.

Brothers has not performed well in Overseas, the collections will come in at around the $2.25 million mark as business in Gulf (850k apprx) and Pakistan is pretty good but with US at $400,000 apprx and UK at £175,000 apprx, the film wont be going anywhere

It was Singham Returns first day & it minted 32cr. Here with Brothers it would b approx 15+21=36cr. if it released on 15th.

Seems I have missed alot here @indicine! I intentionally avoided commenting till I watch d movie which I was supposed to watch yesterday but I guess am no longer watching it. Oh congrats Akshay for breaking your previous records! Now that’s an achievement! 21- 22 crores highest single day awesome yaar awesome!! Welcome to d club of 20 + crores? hop to see you in the 30 crores club sooner. Will I really see u there?? May be I have to wait for next independence day,with Varun or Ranveer in the movie and directed by either a Hirani or Shetty!!
to all akshay fans!! i noticed one thing since quite long time about salman and aamir fans. they always create negativity about akki’s movies. So i request all of you to stop watching salman and aamir films and let all akshay fans who don’t have access to internet to avoid their films as well. after this we have to support SRK and R Roshan films.

Why? Is it promotion ? Release date ? No chartbuster? Its just that off beat suspense thriller are only appreciated by matured minds in india case I think you guys call it family audience . So collection of a megastar who did around 200 crores record breaking 3 idiots next release is 93 crores so 32 crores for SR to 5 crores off beat Drishyam shdnt be a suprise.
Dharma was a huge banner even before a common director came into limelight but does all the actors that do their movies attain 100 crores or record breaking?? No!! Mind you Rohit shetty has only done two movies …1. Ajay 2. Shah rukh. These are big household names any day, talk more of Srk! In other words he is such a bankable superstar with *just a good script*to carry along a movie on his shoulder. For the 3 khans even an average script is okay. So getting a predicted lifetime for a suspense thriller in Bollywood like drishym at 70 crores after Aamirs talaash 95crores is a very very bold statement. Yes going shy of Srk jthj collection or having lesser 100 crores movies than a Salman or coming runners up to an Amir same genre type of movies shows definitely the 3 khans are on a league of their own but how many actors can really give a go @the khans or come just outside the khans zone ? it's only an Ajay or a Hritik.
