Brothers has shown a noticeably big drop in business on Day 3 at the box office. A small drop on Sunday was expected, as Saturday was a holiday for Independence Day. But the drop at some centres was as high as 30% from Saturday.
Given the costs, the target for the film was a 60 crore plus weekend, but the first weekend collections of the film is Rs 52.08 crore net.
Monday now becomes extremely crucial for Brothers. It has to collect in the 7-8 crore range to pass the ‘Monday test’ and go on to be a reasonably good grosser.
Expectations aside, considering the genre of the film and its limited appeal towards the family audience, Brothers has done well in its first weekend at the box office. The film is Akshay Kumar’s highest first weekend grosser, beating the collections of Rowdy Rathore.

- Friday (Day 1) – 15.2 crore
- Saturday (Day 2) – 21.43 crore (40% growth)
- Sunday (Day 3) – 15.45 crore (28% drop)
- Total collections – 52.08 crore
not huge drop on sunday considering independence day and next was sunday so night shows and late night show was huge but on sunday next day is a working day so last 2 shows saw huge drop so 20- 22% drop is normal. hope monday see 50% drop from sunday

I am an Akki Fan and i accepted these collections because i have no reason to defend it and i don’t blame Critics.
Because i know these kind of movies are not for family audiences Brothers low collection’s reason is the genre of a movie and majority of audiences are not like blood. If Gabbar Is Back was released on 15th August i am damn sure that Gabbar makes more than 170-180 crore because that genre se suitable for Independence Day.
Anyway i watched Brothers and totally i liked the movie because i am huge fan of WWE / MMA / UFC.
For me Thumbs Up for Brothers and Akshay Sir.
Indicine predicted perfectly alright 100-105 crore, but after sunday now i am expecting below the 100 crore mark because i don’t think that brothers will pass the monday test and grow up in 2nd week.

Brothers was good movie but its reality Akshay Sir lost Multiplex audiences trust. The director spoiled the movie totally.. Why he tried to change the script somewhere if he has not talent. If he copied same to same scenes, i do hope the fate of movie might be not so unlucky..
i as akshay fan am really disappointed with brothers. Seriously akshay needs to choose his films wisely now. Akshay is himself to blame for this. There was a time during 2006-10 when his movies took record breaking opening be it welcome, singh is king, kambhakt ishq, blue and even tees maar khan are a few among those, however, he also starred in craps like joker, thank you, boss. Multiplex audience are fed up of akshay now, this is denting the prospects of genuine good films like special 26, baby, holiday, gabar etc otherwise all these films would have easily crosed 120 crore mark
