Brothers has shown a noticeably big drop in business on Day 3 at the box office. A small drop on Sunday was expected, as Saturday was a holiday for Independence Day. But the drop at some centres was as high as 30% from Saturday.
Given the costs, the target for the film was a 60 crore plus weekend, but the first weekend collections of the film is Rs 52.08 crore net.
Monday now becomes extremely crucial for Brothers. It has to collect in the 7-8 crore range to pass the ‘Monday test’ and go on to be a reasonably good grosser.
Expectations aside, considering the genre of the film and its limited appeal towards the family audience, Brothers has done well in its first weekend at the box office. The film is Akshay Kumar’s highest first weekend grosser, beating the collections of Rowdy Rathore.

- Friday (Day 1) – 15.2 crore
- Saturday (Day 2) – 21.43 crore (40% growth)
- Sunday (Day 3) – 15.45 crore (28% drop)
- Total collections – 52.08 crore

PK has to count amongst the best ever performances of Aamir Khan. To say he is amazing in and as PK would be an understatement. The type of commitment he has shown in the film is terrific. His mannerisms, his expressions and his hold of Bhojpuri sets an example for other actors to emulate
