Q: Who is Bollywood’s Hero No 1? — We get this question in our mailbox way too often and the frequency has only increased as 2014 came to an end.
A: While we are not too sure if ‘Hero No 1’ means the best performance or the most dominant actor of 2014, we’d like to believe it is the latter. As far as star-power goes, all the three Khans are right up there. If Aamir Khan has delivered the biggest grosser of 2014, he was also helped by the fact that PK was directed by the best director in the industry – Rajkumar Hirani. Also the content of his films is in a different league altogether.
Shahrukh on the other hand, delivered the biggest opening day and single-day in the history of Indian Cinema. Star-power is more about opening numbers than lifetime collections. Factors like Diwali holiday (possibly the biggest day at the box office) and the presence of Deepika Padukone also helped.
And finally, Salman Khan. He doesn’t need much, does he? Jacqueline Fernandes wasn’t a top actress, Sajid Nadiwadala was a debutant, Kick released during the Ramadan period on a non-holiday, had lower ticket prices than PK and in terms of footfalls (number of ticket sold), KICK was way ahead of PK. At smaller centres, his fan-following is unmatched. Even some of his trashy films like Jai Ho, which poor production values, manages to cross the 100 crore mark. Salman is a true-blue superstar, probably comparable to Rajinkanth when it comes to craze with the masses of the country.
It’s too close to call between the three stars, but we’d go with Aamir as the ‘Hero No 1’ of 2014. For his script-sense, conviction and the blind faith that the audience has in his films.

Name the bollywood actor who is in industry from 30 years and has just 11 hits in whole career.
Everybody has their opinion and their point of view that who is best or better.Salman has a blockbuster in hand,srk had huge opening but winner is Aamir khan,Some non Aamir fans saying that its Raju behind the scene,some said good content.blah blah.But its never happen in history of cinema that An actor had given 4 ATBB in last 7 years.If 3i or pk has good content than who is back bone of that film who taken the film at highest level,we are not living in pre multiplex era when a good wom can give u huge grosser with debutant which happened with Rajiv kapoor in Ram Teri Ganga maili,Salman with MPK or hrithik with KNPH.Its a star responsibility to give you wholesome entertainment because if we paid for a ticket,its value should be worth.
Salman with kick was good as it appealed to non Salman fans,Srk with HNY has entertained srk fans but its restricted to his non fans but Aamir with PK appealed to all fans if respective star,there ate few who don’t like pk but majority loved the film.
So Aamir worthed his duty as Superstar to entertain at highest level so he is hero no.1 and mind that PK has expectation with 3i,Raju direction was not at his best and film also had similarity with omg but what hold the film against all tide was Aamir outstanding performance.
At last it is just foolish to know stardom with 3 days only because making a good film is much difficult than to get opening records.
It was Salman khan for me before watching PK but now its Aamir khan bcoz Stardom+Acting+Script sense=Aamir khan.

@indicine you said you pick Aamir for script sense,conviction and trust among the audience?what does this sentence mean.You simply can’t compare a film which is out if comfort for masses as per trailer suggest than how can you judge pk opening with kick and hny where both were Masala flick.When Ghajini and d3 released at that time Aamir also thrashed every possible record.At last you pick Aamir as no 1 but the way you answered this question it seems you forced to pick Aamir at 1 as you have no choice other than this.
As per boi they pointed Salman and Alia for top actor and actress for the year but they were specific with their thought and you turned a diplomatic way for the answer.

Currently I accept Aamir is hero no 1 . Though Srk can again claim his throne with fan , raess. And as far as third Bhojpuri bhaijaan is concerned just crappy masala south remakes can never make him no 1.

Yes amir is hero because he delivered his 2nd blockbuster exactly after 15 years from 1996(raja Hindustani) to 2008(ghajini).also he is hero because he made talash ATBB,also whatever raju hirani is today who didn’t have any hits before is because of amir only and the biggest brand dhoom never helped out hero amir a bit.

@indicine what about jai ho opening which is similar ek villain. If sajid nadiadwala was debutant but Sohail khan is not. If kick released on pre Eid then jai ho released on normal day. Don’t fool people like Boi salman won’t give big opening in non action masala movies.

I just don’t understand why u r comparing salman with rajni in terms of fan following. Rajnikanth is a regional super star. He has fan following only in tamilnadu. His movies also get good collections in other states of south india but he doesnt hav as much fans as he has in tamilnadu. Tamilnadu population is jus over 7 cr. and u r comparing indian superstar salman with regional superstar. salman has fan following almost all states in india. salman easily has minimum 10 times more fans than rajnikanth.
Rajnikanth movies never collected even 100 cr worldwide gross except ROBOT. sice 2000 his movies grossed maximum 80 cr worldwide. Its jus north people think that rajni is biggest star etc., but he is nothing compared to any bollywood super star.,
@Sravanam Rajni is just a regional superstar what a joke.His 2007 released movie Shivaji collected more than 150 crores worldwide on par with Salman’s 2014 release Jai ho.His fan following extends to various overseas territories where he is one of the most popular stars of India.He still has a far greater fan following than Salman’s.
@ indicine- what happen if ticket price of all theaters are same i mean 50 rs only than kick – 170, pk -95 and hny – 80 crore. no.1 choose by majority so Salman khan is no.1 and what i said only true superstar of current hindi cinema.
Obviously its Amir. Whether we consider the collection of his movies or content, he topped the chart this year. So it’s very easy to conclude that he is the hero no 1 for 2014.

From 1992-2007 srk had given ddlj,Ka,k3g and kkhh in all movies its was srk-kajol dude.Now from 1998-2014 our king had not given any atbb even if I count CE an atbb that it exactly 15 years from 1998-2013. By looking at opening numbers srk is miles ahead which shows the star power. But we to admire Amir too he is mr perfectionist almost.
Hny got huge opening just because of high expectation, high promotion and high ticket price. And after that it lost audiences because of negative word of mouth and senseless climax. Even starpower can’t hold a film if it has lack of good content. Kick opened less that hny and hold very well because of good wom and continued it’s good run. P.k has similar opening like like kick and continued to collect well because of good wom. Who says wom doesn’t matter for khans. Salman movies have lot’s of entertaining content where a normal guy want to watch in movies.salman is like ‘will smith’ and rajnikanth of bollywood. His movies r stylish and entertaining. Beside this he has great fan folling then any khan in bollywood. Sharukh is like ‘johnny deep’ if he chooses the best it is best out of best if he chooses worst it is like a nightmare. And aamir before ghajini nobody thought he will rule bollywood. In the 90’s he had only one blockbuster now a days he gives back 2 back blockbusters. He’s like ‘tom hanks’. One good thing about aamir is that aamir chooses only good content which is rare among khans. Have u read tom hanks biography it is some how similar to aamir khan infact both r married twice and have same physical resemblence too. I like ajay devgn but he’s just focuing on good performance rather then doing good commercial movies. Akshay kumar is mass favourite after salman khan i think he has a potential to beat any actor in multiplex and mass circuits. He can do great movies and give back 2 back flops within a year. How funny? If akshay start 2 choose good movies he would be next khan=kumar.don’t u think.ritesh is underrated actor. He just need a good director and producer and the rest is a miracle.
