Bollywood mourns the death of People’s President APJ Abdul Kalam

Bharat Ratna, Missile Man and People’s President, APJ Abdul Kalam, passed away following a massive heart attack in Shillong on Monday.

Bollywood stars took to Twitter to pay their heartfelt tributes to the former President of India, a man who didn’t want his presidency to be extended because he wants to teach, educate and interact with the youth of the country.

RIP no longer meant ‘Rest in Peace’, but was now the short form of ‘Return If Possible’ for a man whose presence will forever be missed.

President: The passing away of former President of India, Bharat Ratna Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam is a deep personal loss for me. We have lost a great son of India who dedicated his entire life for the welfare of the motherland and its people. Dr. Kalam was a people’s President during his lifetime and will remain so even after his death. Dr. Kalam’s warmth, humility and simple ways endeared him to one and all. Dr. Kalam had a special love for children; constantly inspired youth through motivational speeches/personal interaction. Dr. Kalam will be long remembered for his contributions as an eminent scientist, administrator, educationist & writer. Dr. Kalam’s achievements as leader of India’s defence research establishment vastly enhanced safety & security of nation.

Prime Minister: India mourns the loss of a great scientist, a wonderful President & above all an inspiring individual. RIP Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. My mind is filled with so many memories, so many interactions with him. Always marvelled at his intellect, learnt so much from him. Dr. Kalam enjoyed being with people; people & youngsters adored him. He loved students & spent his final moments among them.

Salman Khan: Never had the opportunity to meet Kalam saab but always loved and respected him. As scientist and as president, Kalam saab was a true inspiration for many generations of Indians. When your heart says you should meet someone, don’t delay. I always wanted to meet Kalam saab and I should have made the effort. My loss. I will miss Kalam saab. India will miss him.

Shah Rukh Khan: So sad to hear about the Gurdaspur terror attack & now the news of Dr. Kalam’s demise. May Allah bring peace upon all.
