Bang Bang Worldwide Box Office Collections

Bang Bang has recorded the best ever weekend collections for a Bollywood film released this year. The film opened very well in the domestic markets and the response overseas was equally good too.

Fox Star Studios has officially announced that the Hrithik Roshan starrer has ‘grossed’ more than Rs 175 crore (4 days) at the worldwide box office, making it the highest grosser this year ahead of Kick which collected Rs 158 crore in its first 4 days worldwide.

The overseas collections of the film is way ahead of the first 4 day business of Kick, which grossed Rs 33 crore. However, the film was affected by the pre-Eid period in muslim-dominated markets like U.A.E, Pakistan and even in UK.

A Hollywood website, Deadline, reports (Note: the collections are for 3 day weekend between October 3rd to October 5th)

Bang Bang stars Bollywood heartthrob Hrithik Roshan and the increasingly successful Katrina Kaif in a remake of Fox’s Knight And Day. It took $25.4M (Rs 152 cr) worldwide from about 4,700 screens in more than eight markets. Notably, in India, it earned $19.3M from 4,200 plays. That’s the 3rd highest-grossing opening weekend ever for a non-franchise title and the biggest and widest opening weekend ever for FoxStar. In North America, the FIP financed and produced film scored $1.35M from 271 screens and in the UK earned $922K from 116. Those are each the biggest Bollywood openings of 2014 in those markets. The Middle East is led by the UAE and its $1.8M from 44 screens. In another milestone, that’s the 3rd highest grossing opening weekend ever for a Bollywood title in the region. Impressively at release on Thursday, it grossed approximately $7M worldwide, a huge turn. Further, the U.S. debut bested that of Kick from superstar Salman Khan which bowed in July.

Bang Bang has also performed outstandingly in equally important overseas markets like Pakistan, Australia and New Zealand.

According to Fox Star Studios, the worldwide collections of Bang Bang is as follows

  • India gross – 123 cr (net collections after entertainment taxes is 94.13 cr)
  • Overseas gross – 41.14 cr
  • Worldwide total gross – 164.14 cr (4 days India, 3 days overseas)

  • @sachin1495
    Bang2 broke CE record..
    U r joaking..right?
Bang2 released in 3350 screen whereas CE in 3600..only 250 more than B2
that can hardly make any difference…& if the bang2 was well made,it could have collected much more in 4 days due to decen WOM..dnt talk about clash…let’s see whether Bang2 can cross 422 figure of CE with open 3 weeks or not..if it can, then u can say whatever u want.

  • @sachin1495
    &
CE had a budget of about 75 crore whereas Bang2 was made up by 140 cr.. almost double of CE..

  • Bollywood Hungama @Bollyhungama 17m
    . #BangBang (14.48 cr INR) records 2nd highest
opening for Bollywood film ever in UAE/GCC after
    #Dhoom3 (17.37 cr INR)

  • @Optimus…
Budget of a film hardly decided a viewers choice to watch a film… Morever read the first line if the comment.. I just wrote for haters who r burning with jealousy.. Coz they bash HR & BB…
I have Nothing against srk or ce… BTW i saw CE FDFS myself…

@Sht, Only dubbed Versions of hindi movies are released..? Looks like you never visited south india.. All hindi movies are released in Hindi nly.. Only few screens show Dubbed Versions… Coz audience for dubbed versions is very low…. No one prefer dubbed Versions unless they cant Understand Hindi… And very small share of such people exist… Get some sense dude…. I know coz i am from South India… Hyderabad…

@Saky, we dnt knw more than Producers but it is a fact that film got less screens… Even trade analysts havd confirmed it… Producer may be ryt coz it might have got 4000 screens but are those playing nly Bang Bang.?? Many of the screens, Specially in Multiplexes are dividing a single screen btwn Haider & Bang Bang…. In Hyderabad many are screening 3 shows of Bang Bang & 1 show of Haider… So u can say effective screen num is just 3600…

  • All those who are trying to go gaga over Bang Bang collections, here are some facts:

    1. Each and every one knew that there is a clash of Haider and Bang Bang, but before release people outright rejected Haider. Everyone was like “bang Bang would be biggest opener” and bla bla…. So these people did not care for clash but post opening same people “Bang Bang clashed with Haider hence collections are low” Why so Hypocrisy…..

    2. Before Release: 5 days weekend wow great collections guaranteed. And now: It was partial holiday. Man a film is getting best ever release date of the year and it has been accepted by each trade person and still you crying….

    3. Bang Bang Official figure of 94 crore is accepted by everyone (it includes non-Hindi collections also) but the official figure of 4200 screens is not accepted (again it is not for Hindi but includes all languages) . Again Wow..just choose numbers that favour your claim…..

    4. Now people saying that with such low scree counts (3300-3600 as per these claims) bang bang has done fabulous business. To all these people just check these stats:
with 3200 screens ETT had 33 crore opening in 2012 at lower ticket price
with simila clash in 2012, SOS and JTHJ collected 36 crore together

    5. Still the first day of Bang Bang is its highest day…

  • I am making it simple to mentally retarded person
In Mumbai ETT GOT 1200 SCREENINGS
WHILE BANG BANG ONLY GOT 1050 screenings
Number of screenings per day matters not no screens
BOI lovers can check it on their favourite site
I think this is clear enough to make you understand
So considering these facts bang bang collections are good but not as much as expected
Tuesday will be the real test for movie

  • @Dev, bigger than Chennai Express in a Muslim dominated country like UAE? He’s also shattered all the records in Pakistan, too. It’s at least in top 3 openers of all time in overseas market along with Dhoom 3 and Chennai Express. He’s finally back where he belongs in overseas market.

  • Bang bang is my fav movie of 2014.. Collection is not a big matter bt its peoples choice…. Bang bang my superstar HR….

  • @Number Game

Here is reply to ur so called facts..

    1) yaa we knew that there is a clash but we didnt knew that People will start comparision between an Action-thriller and a critic friendly movie..

    2) We said it has got 5 day weekend & we still say it.. But we didnt knew that Modi will turn a National holiday into a Partial holiday… We thought if Fri & Sat are effected by dussehra & navratri it will do well on sunday but we never expected that khantards & critic will try to spread so much negativity by that time…

    3) We accept the official figure of both BO & Screen count but on many screens of Bang Bang, Haider is also getting one or two shows.. So trade analysts & we said its 3600 in India effectively..

    4) FYI in India prices are inflated nly during Christmas, diwali, n Eid… Not on Dussehra…
So ETT tickets & BB ticket price doesn’t have much difference… If it was a full holiday, No clash it would have equalled ETT & with Inflated prices & Higher screen count would have matched Dhoom 3…
On Diwali, Despite a pure holiday JTHJ did 12.5 & SOS did 10.7 A total of 22.5 cr not 36 Cr as u speak of…

    5) That is bcoz of the Negative reviews & Negativity by Haters….

  • Good to know that BB has created some records i.e. in Pakistan, Kerala, top weekend worldwide grosser of 2014 etc…But as a HR fan the collections in India are still very disappointing. I expected it to collect 300 crs, but unfortunately it is not in a position to touch 200 crs…There are many factors that affected this:

    1) Citics’ Reviews: Totally disappointed with the critics reviews. When a movie has lot of things to offer which are very new and international. There should be some value to it. This remainds me of HR dialouge in Bang Bang – ” Kohinoor churiya hoon, kuch tho izzat karo yar”. You have never seen the stunts before, HR dance so wonderfully, Super hit songs. It deserves a min of 3 star rating. Critics rating do affect business worth of atleast 20 – 50 % of daily collections.

    2) Screens: 3300 screens is very less. With screens of 3800 atleast it could have collected atleast 15-20 crs more in first 4 days, when movies run generally in hype.

    3) Release of Haider in Hindi, Ram Charan movie in telugu and many medium budgets movies in Tamil has seriously dent its business by atleast another 20 crs in first 4 days.

Overall, for those morons who say it is failure – Bang Bang seems to collect 108-110 crs in 5 days, another 28-30 crs in next 3 days, making it 140 crs first week. Which is the budget of Bang Bang. So there is no scope of it being called flop or average. the movie will attain semi-hit status by end of 1st week. Now 2nd week and 3rd week collections will tell if the movie can attain Hit status (170 cr) or not. I think the movie will end up in 170 – 180 crs if Monday (today) collections are not more than 18 crs…If more than 18 crs than it has good chance to touch 200 crs (Super -Hit Status).

  • film is going houseful for 5 day at jaya kolkata…people loved it still people crying it is flop
…some srk sallu fan did not watch but spread negetive

  • Salman and HR fans before the release of KICK and BANG BANG – CE has no record….So our target is D3 and 300 crs.

After the release of KICK and BANG BANG — Yeeee…we broke CEs record.

Trying hard to shield their failures.lol

  • @rohit, exactly producers fig is right b it movies collections or screens count. But sum people trust producers only for movies collections nt for screens count…isn’t it double standard?

  • I think critics nd their unfair review has cost this film big time. Negative reviews have taken away the enthusiasm from common people to watch the movie in theater. Word of mouth is old term to set trend of a film, TV and other medias are the primary trend setters now.
These morons never dare to criticize any khan film instead Akshay & Hrithik’s films often falls as their prey.

  • “Bang Bang has done remarkably well and has become the highest opening film in hrithik’s career sofar. A 4-day net total of Rs. 94 crore is huge! What’s also very creditable is the $6 million weekend Overseas! B.O. figures like these are not seen very often.” – Komal Nahta…
And there is no doubt he is one of the best trade analyst & Most trusted…

Now Haters will say his figures are also fake…
    Height of Insecurity…

  • Bang bang has collected very good amount in 4 days, though it could have been better if it had solo release.
@nipun when did I bash bang-2,why are you point out only me,I just talking about it critical expectation not about public expectation. Yes I agree there are too much unnecessary negativity surrounding bang-2, but there are also some flaws in content and that happen almost every big commercial film.
I think what went wrong with bang-2 in critics rating as this is the Knight and Day remake and mostly critics perhaps seen KND already. So comparison may be dent bang-2 rating because my friends who didn’t seen KND liked the film but those who had seen KND were not impressed.
Never the less Bang-2 will collect respectable amount but negativity will harm its about 15-20 cr max.
Regarding Martin Dsuza yes I have been following him from longtime, most of the time I found his review satisfactory but some Time not,he given bodyguard good rating as he liked the film and other reason is that he said its baseless to review Salman film as audience won’t care about it,that’s why he given ETT-5/5 andDabangg 2 4/5, while in other actor case I found his rating satisfactory but doesn’t mean I agree with him every time.
@babaji I also rated holiday 4/5 and for SR the reason was its falling collection after 1 week, is that 3 week earlier Kick had released who collected huge money in 2 week,so SR was expected to collect around 140-150 cr by most of the trade and fans but because film collected record opening day so expectation was more collection, but practically those who were interested in the movie they seen it but because of holiday weekend most of them watched in 3-4 days and also its wom wasn’t negative but because Ajay has limited stardom and its not matched with Prequal resulted the expected lifetime not more than that which should after first weekend.

  • @kingshuk lol kick is failure, hahaha yes the expectation of fans is always high but the release date which kick had its required a very food wom to surpass dhoom3, but yes kick surpassed CE,I think you forgot your fellows old days that MNIK,RA1,Don2 will cross 3i but it didn’t happen,it was only CE pre release time when srk fans doesn’t shout more because it had competition from coming week but CE surprised every body.
regarding bang-2 yes the buzz was quite high but negativity and clash with hugely accepted haider effected it,still 150cr + figure is good especially for those who were satisfied with Ra1,Don 2 and MNIK domestic collection

  • @sky, i agreed that you reacted on critics reviews. But somewhere I found your hypocrisy. You bashed indicine and critics for underrating holiday. But you called bang bang a disappointment by seeing at critics rating only, that too without even watching it.

  • Earlier fox star said bang bang got 4300screens in india but jadoo fans did not believe them. Now, fox star is saying it surpassed kick’s collections worlwide, all jadoo fans believing them blindly……too much double standard.

  • @Tiger – If we are to believe 4,300 screens for Bang Bang and 1,250 for Haider, then it will be over 5,500 number of total screens, which is not possible today. Hindi films can get about 4,500 screens at one time as of now, which is being divided by two films like Bang Bang and Haider. HNY will also get less than 5,000 screens. Since, Haider is released in 1,200 screens, that leaves us to around 3,300 screens for Bang Bang (maybe be little bit more if we include Tamil & Telugu version). It’s about common sense. Don’t know if Fox Star was really sure about it, or they meant total number of screens all over the globe. Whatever it was, but it is clear that it can’t get over 4,000 screens.

One more thing, during a clash, two movies are divided in multiplexes. For example, in my area, there were 20 shows for Kick a day in a multiplex, but now they are divided with 12 shows for Bang Bang and 8 shows for Haider. I checked BookMyShow, and it was the same case with many multiplexes all over the country. Even some of the single screen theaters are showing 3 shows for Bang Bang and 1 for Haider, which are rarely seen.

So, it played a big role, maybe it did get 4000+ screens in India but shows were divided with Haider, it could be a possibility. Singham Returns was released in 3600 screens and it collected 32 crores on its opening day, but as Indicine had said, Bang Bang recorded highest % of occupancy show far this year on its opening day, so it should have been definitely 35+ crore if it was released in over 4000 screens as it recorded better occupancy than Singham Returns, but it didn’t, which means screens/shows were obviously lower than Singham Returns. Even Mary Kom got more number of shows than Bang Bang in many centers according to Indicine. No wonder why we don’t see clashes very often.

    Hope this helps you.

  • Those SRKians bashing Bang2..beware.. 24th October..the day when all the Mithaiwalas, Chaiwalas and Lungiwalas will hide themselves in the shouchalay of Chennai Express.. :D Remember..if Bang2 is crap..then CE is even more crappier.. :D As @Navin shivers said as you sow shall you reap.. :D Too much fun!!!! :D

  • pgl frm india should b proud dat they had got actor lyk hrithik,…m frm nepal n while watchin bangbang ppl were sayin wish we hav actor lyk him who iz totally hollywood material..
