The theatrical trailers of two keenly-awaited Christmas releases, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani and Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale, have been released.
Both films have been made on a budget of more than Rs 100 crore and recovery for one of the two films might prove to be difficult.
Dilwale was always going to be the bigger film, after all it had a massive star cast featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon. Varun himself is a bigger star than Ranveer Singh and SRK is in a different league altogether.
The added advantage for Dilwale is Rohit Shetty, one of the top directors in the industry, whose track record at the box office can only be rivalled by the likes of Rajkumar Hirani and Rakesh Roshan.
But the battle for box office supremacy has probably evened out after the makers of Bajirao Mastani have released a theatrical trailer that has impressed the audience, critics and the trade. Come 18th December, Dilwale will still have the upper hand, but Bajirao Mastani is a magnum opus and a film that the audience would want to experience on the big screen.

@The phenom If BM clashed with Dhoom 3, I will definitely go for dhoom 3 first but in that case I won’t bash Bajirao unnecessarily. I am not saying that everybody should watch BM, I am disappointed when whole media and trade were interested that somehow BM got postponed. Last year PK was supposed to release post IPL but than moved to Christmas release, that time Bombay welvet and Welcome back supposed to release along that movie. I didnt have any hard feeling for any of those film whether they clash with pk or not as it was Aamir who pushed the release to Christmas. Similarly I will definitely bash Bhansali if srk finalised dilwale for Christmas first, but it was Bhansali who booked the release date so if doesn’t want to move than why bashing him calling egostic. I will definitely wish that BM success at box office.
For me BM is not a movie for which I can go with my family as I can easilt predict from the trailer itself that it will have at least 3 bedroom/bathroom sex scenes(the one in trailer in which RS is pouring water on PC) so can’t say if it is a family movie. And after such a pathetic RAM Leela I don’t like SLB at all since he isn’t the same the director now who has mad Devdas Black etc. So BM is a big no. So DILWALE all the way. Im with bajirao mastani ..dilwal is a simple story we see that in allot of other indian movie ..and yea i love kajol shahruk coupl but i want see other coupl too new coupl with a new romantiq story and i think deepika ranveer ar really good with eatch other in acting
TBH i liked dilwale.
The trailer was satisfactory for what we usually expect in a rohit shetty movie.
And I want to see kajol and srk against each other.
Bajirao Mastani… Deepika and Priyanka do impress. But Ranveer fails big time in convincing the audience as the lead of the movie.
