Emraan Hashmi’s Azhar has just completed an average first weekend at the box office. Given the huge marketing campaign and the fact that it was a biopic on a former Indian cricketer, Azhar was expected to touch the 25 crore mark in its first weekend. But the film has collected less than 21 crore in 3 days.
On Monday, almost all centres have dropped by around 50-55%. So both the weekend trend and the hold on Monday doesn’t seem to indicate that the film will have a long and successful run.
Azhar has to hold to around 3.5 – 4 crore on Monday to have any chance of becoming a decent grosser.

Watched Azhar!
The clumsy screenplay makes it an easily forgettable flick! It is based on some serious issues, but I didn’t feel any genuine tension! The BGM doesn’t support the film either. I also couldn’t feel the characters.
Emraan and Lara Dutt are honest with their role. But enough of Azhar is not found within Emraan. In many sequences, the actor reminded me of himself. He tried and succeeded to some extents, but in the past we have seen better performances in biopics and hence, we would always expect better! Kunaal Roy Kapoor and Gautam Gulati are poor in their performances. Nargis is the another weak link in the film. Prachi is decent.
Azhar certainly keeps you engaged, but it disappears from your mind within 10 mins as you finish watching it.

What audience and commentators have to understand first is the meaning of biopic..
Biopic depicts the whole life story of a person from birth till death
This movie just focuses on 1 event
And those allegations of match-fixing were never proven, so there is more than 80% chance he is innocent..
Yet the people who are talking against the movie are the real biased people..You guyz have already declared Azhar as guilty and not watching the movie without hearing his side of story
This was always supposed to be about what Azhar went through during those hard times, not what the media made him out to be…
You are calling movie as biased, tell me 1 movie other than talvar that actually showed different accounts of the same event..?? And for all those who have watched Talvar, I urge you to watch the movie Rahasya as it shows only 1 account and handles the subject better…

still Emraan is a better actor than floppy Kumar, who is smaller star than Rajpal yadav now. Houseful 3 will be a flop.
hasmi doesn’t look like azhar anywhere. the film is very juvenile with below mediocre dialogues.. the cricketers shown are nowhere close to their real self especially kapil dev and ravi Shastri… they are shown in poor light for not supporting azhar but not azhar !! he is the hero!! just how he managed to have a house in bunjara hills and super beautiful bijlani will never be known.. those days test cricket was not so paying and for him to rise to riches was quite strange
I don’t hate emran but I hate azharduddin the fixer. He sold himself and country to bookies, he’s a disgrace to India
