As a 2009 New year special, we start this new section on our site called “Ask Us”. Its pretty darn straight forward.

Have any query / question about stars, movies, box-office or anything related to Bollywood? Ask Us! Just submit your question(s) below, in the usual comments section. We will try and answer as many questions as we possibly can.

Note – Questions should only be in English and try to be as clear with your question as possible, it will help us understand better.

    1.what no. of chances pritam will win the filmfare award for music?
    2.what u think about pritams music style of composition?

    Decent – Tum Mile, Ajab Prem Ki, Love Aaj Kal were all good.
    2. Hmm.. He’s good but always accused of plagiarism. Even his originals don’t get their due credit. Unfortunate, but he only has himself to blame for it.
    3. Blue hasn’t recovered its investment.

    1) it s said salmans MAMK collected 21cr on DTH. so is it termed a superhit?
    2) der r reports stating 3 idiots `ll be released simultaneously on DTH. if it happens wont it affect d collections?
    like in a family of 4, if al 4 go to a theater dey `ll pay lik 150X4=600rs but if dey watch thro DTH dey `ll pay only 100rs and watch dat movie for d entire week..

    it `ll help those aged ppl who cant walk to d theaters tats al.. or else it `ll be a loss rt…?

    1. Yes it has. But we do not know how it works. The tax, DTH providers share etc. If entertainment tax is 30% and the rest is shared 50 – 50 between the producers and DTH providers.. Then the movies actual nett gross would be around 7.5 crores.
    2. Wont happen. If it does, we are all set for another multiplex strike. One film should try this though, if the producers cant infact recover investment purely from DTH premieres there could be many films that benefit.

    Yes, it will help those who cant walk to theaters and also curb piracy to a certain extent. But a dth release after a week or 2 of theatrical release would be ideal.

    1. We don’t have much info on that movie. Dont think it was more than 10 crores.

    3. Possible. There is quite a lot of curiosity around it.

  • 1.In ur analysis of Kurbaan not working at the box office while New york did.both films had a core idea of terrorism.Kurbaan with highly competant actors like saif ali khan and kareena kapoor still did not make a mark at the box office.New york with much raw actors like Neil Nitin Mukesh ,John Abraham and katrina kaif worked at the box office because of the presence of box office queen Katrina Kaif.Even De dana dan will be a hit.

    Not really because of Katrina. The trailers of New York were fresh, colorful and it released just after the 2 month long strike. So a lot of factors were in favor of New York. Kurbaan was released with so many biggies back to back, also it was dark. Family audience stay away from such films.

    Yes, De Dana Dan most likely will be a HIT

    the main reason of flop were their huge buget?

    The budgets you mentioned are wrong..

    Blue – Yes, with lower costs would have worked.
    CC2C – No, it would have flopped irrespective of the budget.
    Drona – This movie was so bad even if its budget was 20 crores, it would have flopped.
    Love Story – No..

  • Why are people considering Blue and Kambakkht Isqh Flop when Kambakkht Isqh was declared an above average and Blue is considered an average?

    Since it stars Akshay Kumar and was expected to do much more. By his standards, its considered a failure.

    Blue was disaster. It will be aired on TV this sunday(Nov 29). Check out yourself..

    Almost all involved lost money because of the huge costs.

  • except Kunal Kohli and Khalid Muhammad did any other critic could make any single movie ??? leave a movie any single 4 min song video ???
    we have 100s critics who loved to give reviews on every single movie and most of them only see negative points of movie and they try to trash movies.
    but why they dont make any movie why they dont direct any movie. if they are too genius then they should take initial and start production or direction.

    Do you realize the cost involved in making a film? Critics aren’t ‘too genuis’ we are just a bunch of movie buffs who have watched a lot of films of different languages and genres.

  • @yashpal: get yourself checked Blue had huge opening which resulted in above average result not a diasaster

    It wasn’t a disaster for sure. Just fell a bit short of recovering its investment i.e overseas and India combined.

  • @indicine do u guys support any actors other than the khans and bachans because they always get good reviews even when the movie isn’t even any good and I would give D3 4.5 out of 5 stars because it really deserves it……

    Hera Pheri did well only in select cities. Unlike Phir Hera Pheri which on the brand created by the previous classic, did more than three times the business. Back then, it was considered a not-too-successful film.. like for example Blue..

    Q.3 I asked for Trailer of Hera Pheri and u said that u will find, did u find it ???

    1. DTH is a direct-to-home service. MAMK was released within the first week of its release on Tata Sky, Dish TV (DTH providers) etc and due to the early release and the subsequent ban in theaters, did well on DTH.. The verdict of films is based on its theatrical business, hence MAMK remains a box office disaster.
    2. Out of those we liked Dhamaal, Waqt, Aitraaz.
    3. Yes, we have managed to get hold of it. Will be posted tonight. :)

  • Ohh My God Indicine u didnt like Aankhien ??? how can it possible it was one of the best thrill in Bollywood and u didnt like . plz watch it again and give me rating plz.
    does akshay kumar has any thrilling movie in future like Race, Ajnabi, Humraaz, Bazigar, khiladi ???

    Aankhen was average.. Certainly not the best.. Amongst the thrillers our fav are Johnny Gaddar and the ‘infamous’ Kurbaan.

  • What was the reaction been from the audience for de dana dan because many reports are mentioning it’s been postive and critics was trashed the film? What if de dana dan only grosses 7 crores on the weekdays and takes a hit on the 8th day will still be a hit since it has groosed 30 corres which is the budget for the movie and how is de dana dan faring on Monday?

    It has dropped on the 8th day, but since the movie is still doing good business at single screens.. the distributors share will be quite high..

    One question at a time please. check the rules.. We cannot give detailed replies here.. To quickly answer some of your questions.. Best directors this decade – Anurag Kashyap, Vishal Bharadwaj, Rajkumar Hirani. Business overall has been poor in India too, blame it on the quality of films..

    2.Did Love Aaj Kal sustained well enough after it grossed 27 crore net over its first weekened?

    It was answered somewhere.. Anyway, 40 – 50% drop these days is acceptable for a widely released film. Love Aaj Kal did reasonably well after its first weekend.

    Not yet. Business of De Dana Dan is good at single screens, but the movie is a huge disappointment at multiplexes. The word of mouth for Paa is good. Radio is trash. How can you even ask a question like which of those will have the best weekend? De Dana Dan by a mile!
