Kites has been postponed by a week and will now arrive on May 21st 2010 which will mean the Roshan’s most ambitious project with clash against Sajid Khan and Akshay Kumar’s Housefull, slated to release on the very same date.
Its too early to confirm if the two would indeed clash and either Housefull or Kites could be postponed by a few weeks as Prakash K Jha’s Rajneeti too is slated for release a week later on May 28th.
With increasing number of multiplexes and screens though, there is enough space for both Kites and Housefull to witness a same day release, yet survive the clash, as both films belong to different genres – Romance / Action and comedy.
In the past, biggies like Gadar – Lagaan, Taare Zameen Par – Welcome have clashed and all four films have made heaps of money at the box office.
If the clash does happen, it will be very interesting as both films are very important for both the industry and the stars. Kites would be Hrithik’s first release in 2 years and Housefull would be Akshay’s first release of the year, after a rather disappointing 2009.
Well It’s not a good idea. I think both the movies will affect each other’s business. Anyway, Housefull is more likely to win the battle if both the movies get released on the same day… I know it would be a stupid Comedy movie but the people want to watch the movies like it these days…
Il c both of them….but my first preferance will be Housefull coz i really like Akshay and sajid’s humour than next day il c Kites…i think both of them will be

Audiences have enough of stupid akshay kumay comedies….what did u meant by slow winner, slow winners are those movies which have steady collections on weekdays, 2nd week 3’rd week & so on & for that the movie has to b rich in content & akshay miserably fails in that criteria. Kites will open big & if the content is good it will the winner in the long run.
so looks like kite will settle for a semi hit status nothing more than that because of the genre so hrithik fans go watch it your star need your support because nobody except hrithik fans will go and watch this muvi
mind it it can be disaster too because the high price taging it have to earn 120 crore to be a profitableone

@Rex I know wht d slow winner means and I said that bcoz 1st wekend is gng 2 be for kites but after that HF is gng 2 bask in glory as d hype of d movie suggest that kite is more awaited but dnt forget that comedy is always favo flavor of d audience and whn u add akki 2 it firework is gng 2 work yaar ddd was not a great movie but still it gets AAvg tag then just thnk if houseful is 25% better than ddd u can predict it’s fate on other hand we wait to see even kites get U/A Certificate from censor board but I wish both d gd luck
@Rex: y u people always say about JA we know that hrithik has only 4 hits movie outside his own banner but why u people forget ashutosh whn it comes to histroy he is d best no question on hrithik capability but ashutosh has creativity was also there and whn u come to d content dhn even movie like golmaal 1,jaane tu,kalyug etc which didn’t had any superstar in it yet they were higly sucessful movie in their respected year

ja worked because of the quality muvi mind it doesnt opened hugely besides i am not ahrithik hater i was just saying kites is not the kind of muvi which works big time in india maybe it can be hit in overseas but after the 1st weekend it doesnt have the masala material to be a huge hit

JA proved that hrithik is the biggest star today, because srk and aamir both have tried their hands on history based movies in asoka and mangal pandet and both failed miserably.
Please dont say that JA had a poor opening, it opened at 70% which is huge for a periodic movie. With kites you will see how big a star hrithik is. Just wait and see.

Basic Thing is Script , if script is not good story , screenplay is not up to the mark then none of any director make it good.
Ashutosh got good idea and screenplay in Lagan and Jodha Akbar , so he made good movies , but script of Baazi , Sawades , and WYR didnt hv attractive stories so he Floped.

Hrithik is no doubt a wonderful actor and he proved d same by doing the major blockbusters like JA, Dhoom 2, Krish, KMG etc. But on the other hand success of kites totally depends on the acceptibility factor of Indian audiences. Of course it may rock Metros because of demand among growing uraban youth but its success also depends on revenue generation from other cities and towns across India, which again remains a question mark for the film!!!!!!!! But of course if the film is getting good response at global level , it will prove that Hrithik has got the capabilty to cater the need global audiences too.
I think “Precision never goes unnoticed”. His honest and hard work will surely bring the positive result.

As far as starting Krissh 3 goes Rakesh Roshan admits there’s no immediate chance of it taking off. “I am not even thinking of directing my own film until our production Kites is released on May 14. Only then will I seriously start planning my directorial project. For now the next film I direct is Krissh 3. But it may change if I’m unhappy with the script.” reported by Subash K JHA source Times of India.

I agree with you that inspite being a historic movie jodha akbar was hit and I said that No question on hrithik capability and if u r comparing it with akshay then I can say Akshay is more bankable actor then Hrithik and if u want to no that compare the opening given by both the actors for their respective movies and I have even said that KITES may get better opening then HOUSEFULL as hrithik is returning to silver screen with a long gap and hype of kites is more then Housefull.
