For all Bollywood lovers, who loved Akshay Kumar in the 2012 blockbuster ‘Rowdy Rathore’, here is some good news. The sequel to one of the most loved films of 2012 is currently in its scripting stages and the film is expected to go on floors in 2015.
According to a source, the makers of Rowdy Rathore are planning the second installment of the 100-crore grosser. Akshay Kumar has been finalized for the lead while the makers are still looking for the lead female for Rowdy Rathore 2. Prabhu Deva who directed its prequel, will direct its second part too. Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Shabina Khan will produce the film.

Confirming the news, co-producer Shabina Khan said, “Yes, we are making Rowdy Rathore 2. We are in the process of locking the script.”
If sources are to believed, the film will go on floors mid-June after Bhansali finishes the shooting of his next film ‘Bajirao Mastani’ which will go on floors in October.
“Bhansali will start shooting for Bajirao Mastani in October and Rowdy Rathore 2 will being mid way next day. The sequel was in the pipeline ever since the film entered the Rs 100 crore club,” a source close to the development said.
There are also reports that the sequel is likely to be a original script.

Wow! That’s a great news. Akshay Kumar suits inn a role of cop. Rowdy Rathore had good story and great performances. I just hope they will take the next step and work on believable action scenes unlike South.
Rowdy Rathore is one of my favorite masala movies.
Even though one will argue that it is brainless,one can’t deny the fact that it is highly entertaining.Akshay sir’s comic timing and action skills made it a must watch.

Not a fan of Akshay…. but RR is his most entertaining film by a distance.. it was more entertaining than Dabang, Chennai Express and Wanted.

Maybe some will say I’m partial because I am an Akshay sir fan but to me Rowdy Rathore was an entertaining masala by miles.It was like a 2 in 1 affair,.And from a neutral point,this is true!!!

Though not a fan of Akshay Rowdy Rathore is very entertaining movie. But sequel of this movie is not needed btw asit is much more of a single entity then a franchise builder.
BTW have you heard about the title of our bhai next film ‘Bajirao Bajrangi’ for this our bhai has done special training to speak Bhojpuri properly as bhai wants to grow his fan base in bihar circuit
Only remakes and sequel of that remake and create a franchise from that..Masterplan from akki to save his drowning career

Looking forward to Warrior remake. Akki should do more original films or remake hollywood films instead of making sequels or south remakes.
The first one was good and entertaining.
I heard earlier that it would be a prequel, ie., story of Vikram Rathore.
But honestly, the entertainiing part of the movie was the story of Shiva (rowdy rathore).
It had a nice fusion of comedy, action and songs.
If this new movie is a prequel, i don’t think it would be that entertaining.
Instead they should continue with the character of Shiva and 2G’s new adventures just like Munnabhai series. The fun element need to stay.
