They say star power is all about the opening day and opening weekend collections of a film. So we decided to list the first day collections of every lead actor’s last movie release, along with factors surrounding the release of their film.
With a solo Diwali holiday release, Shahrukh Khan leads by a distance. In fact, the first day collections of SRK’s Happy New Year is higher than the combined first day collections of films starring Emraan Hashmi, Saif Ali Khan, John Abraham, Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor and Varun Dhawan! Same goes for the opening that films like Ek Tha Tiger, Kick, Dhoom 3, PK have taken.

It also goes to show that the Khans (SRK, Salman, Aamir) are the biggest crowd pullers in the industry and festive holiday releases have a huge advantage over normal releases.
Hrithik Roshan comes second in the list, the only actor who can consistently deliver a 25 crore+ opening day, even though his film released with another keenly-awaited film like Haider. Bang Bang also had lower ticket prices as compared to Eid, Diwali or Christmas releases.
Akshay Kumar needs to up his game and take PR / Marketing of his films more seriously. His latest release Baby was trending non-stop on social media websites like Twitter, but there was hardly any real buzz outside the internet world. The opening day business of Baby has sent shockwaves in the trade, as it was among 3 of the biggest releases in the first half of 2015. A 9 crore opening is simply not good enough, considering the costs and what Akshay charges for his films.

@myanmar.yangon,if KING SRK would have done pk,then it would have collect 400cr.If HE would have in south remake kick with good songs then it would have cross even 280cr,but unfortunately HE is busy in saving FARAH’S career.

Opening day figures of SRK films are highly exaggerated. The industry knows the truth. Very conveniently Chennai Express grossed just a few lakhs more than Ek Tha Tiger on the first day. Happy New Year’s 44 cr is a laugh; it’s inflated by 20%. Real heroes are your second week top grossers like PK, 3 Idiots.
HRITHIK ROSHAN always surprise us every time in spite of BANG BANG ! not release in good day ( crowded days like eid, diwali or Christmas period) with not solo release ( clash with Haider which wasn’t a small film at all ) and another bad things happen with BANG BANG ! was the black days of Pre-Diwali period ( before two weeks of Diwali is not a good period for films or Hindi Film Industry and films always not do well at BO during this period) But BANG BANG ! not just open well but manage well enough to make BIG 182 crore at BOX OFFICE.

And people are saying Aamir runs boi the fact is that still people in industry who know real truth accept their figure, Komal Nahta is in trade from years.They know what is right.

Its all depend on film genre,overall the production value as well as strong cast and supporting cast with great marketing if that movie released on holiday any big star including Akki and Ajay give huge opening.Ajay-Rohit did with Singham Returns.
Overall the huge weekend ensure success of a film. But better trending shows how movie liked by people.
This year pk and kick along with holiday,2 states,queen etc proved, last year d3,k3 and CE trended well in second week.
While Dabangg2,Ra1,Hny,bb failed in second weeks.
Forget to mention that SR also failed in trending in 2nd week onwards.
SRK-Abhishek-Sonu-Vivaan-Boman-Deepika topped the list!! Congrats! But Salman bhai is the one that takes his movie on his shoulder alone!!

@indicie, that’s not a fair list. you have to make analysis of all equal release dates openings. srk has n’t released any of his film on non holiday post my name is khan. so of course he would top the list. and aamir and salman’s kick and PK both released on non holiday. so that way the stardom can not be judged. again I would say that not just opening day but opening weekend and opening week decides the real star power. because opening depends on how big festival release it is. and new year after diwali is undoubtedly biggest festival releae. imagine if ek tha tiger released on new year holiday, than it would have opened with more than 35 crores at that time in 2012. and dhoom 3 on new year day also could have opened with more than 45 crores. so dhoom 3 and ek tha tiger are winners as their foot falls were more than happy new year.
