Akshay Kumar’s Baby Day 1 (Friday) Official Collections

Akshay Kumar’s Baby has collected Rs 9.3 crore, according to official figures from T-Series. The film has done well at multiplexes in cities, but was below-the-mark at other places.

The next 3 days will be crucial for Baby as films that perform well at multiplexes tend to show excellent growth in business Saturday evening onwards. Sunday and Monday (Republic Day) are national holidays, which will help the film big time. Baby also has tremendous potential for growth at smaller centres as the occupancy on Friday was low.

Released on 2650 screens, Baby was competing against a smaller film like ‘Dolly Ki Doli’ which has collected Rs 2.5 crore on Day 1.

  • Decent collection and the WOM should help the film to grow over the extended weekend. One of the best action thrillers made in bollywood.

  • OM it’s too bad for Bollywood. Minimum 10cr was expected. Its ok for Bollywood. BTW Baby saw a good jump today. Expecting 12cr today.

  • it is below than entertainment in terms of boxoffice but it is much better than entertainment this movie shows that all muslims are not terrorist and without muslim,s help terrorists can,t finish.

    • BOI is the wost site..They only track Aamir khan’s films collections… They dont have enough reach to track accurate collection. but when Aamir movie releases they hire more staff and give parallel collection with producers…

    • @Fake: It’s not true because Dhoom 3’s collection difference was 21cr. In case of pk & 3 Idiots the producer is Vidhu Vinod Chopra who is not known for manipulating collections……..
BOI only believes in actual figure which they show after adding collections of all indian region……
All other sites believes in collection given by the producers….

    • No not at all.. .. What I’m trying to say is BOI is not authentic.. u may compare BOI vs Box office trade figures..

  • I really like the film baby is must watch film.

But boxoffice don’t work in our wish,

    – first day OFFICAL are 9.3core

If weekend cross 30+ mark then will be hit.

If film does weekend less then 30 cores then it’s only avrg – flop.

  • Waitingg for b bhaijaan..feels like a story I read in in childhood..as per that story Salman will be a Muslim and patterns a Hindu girl will fall in love….but she will marry some Hindu guy under family pressure….I knew what will happen next but won’t reveal it…..but it’s such a awesome human love story but question is will kabir be able to portray it beautifully on big screen..Really waiting for be bhaijaan…tere naam part 2 on its way with better story

    • @babaji the WOM is phenomal dude, the collections will definitely grow over the weekend and the weekdays will be super steady too.
if 1st week is around 60-65 cr.+ then 100 cr. should be an easy task.

  • This is the ‘starpower’ of Akki. Even with great buzz and reviews he cannot cross 10 crore.
And some Akki fans insult Ranbir inspite of the fact that he has given huge openings, even Besharam had bigger opening day than Akki’s biggest opener Rowdy Rathore.

  • He might not make it that apparent but Neeraj Pandey is very much like Rajkumar Hirani, making the same format, film after film. If Hirani is on an internal cleansing mission through his social comedies, Pandey’s thrillers are plotted around missions. Everything from stealing jewellery from different parts of the country to stealing terrorists from faraway countries. That’s Baby, an assassination plot which turns into a very Argo-esque runaway project. And yes, there’s quite a bit of cleansing, of the patriotic kind.

The film runs the all-is-fictional disclaimer but talks about real events that have shaken India in the last decade or so. And it talks about one super-secret super-intelligent anti-terrorist unit named Baby which has foiled many Pakistani terrorist attacks in India. Danny Denzongpa’s Feroz Ali Khan leads the team which has a Tarzan, Ajay Singh Rajput (Akshay Kumar), a Hulk, Jai Singh Rathore (Rana Daggubati) and a wig-adjusting senior hacker Shuklaji (Anupam Kher).
Baby’s project is to take out dreaded terrorist Bilal Khan (Kay Kay Menon), who escapes the Mumbai Police from an Italian Job-like hanging truck situation. Now after killing and arresting quite a few informants, which takes us everywhere from Turkey to Nepal, Team Baby has to go to Saudi Arabia and kill Bilal. While Chief Feroz will be on the phone, Ajay, Jai and Shuklaji will have to travel undercover and carry out the operation.

Everything goes according to plan except the fact that Bilal is not alone in his hotel room. With him is Maulana Mohammad (played by Pakistani actor Rasheed Naz, seen in Khuda Kay Liye), the India-bashing Mullah modelled on the real-life Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, who has links to the Mujahideen Lashkar-e-Taiba jihad group. Now the last hour is about how the Baby trio manage to bring Maulana back to India. Alive.

From A Wednesday! to Special 26 to Baby, Neeraj Pandey’s craft has become better and better and it is the craft which is at the forefront in Baby, a pulsating thriller that manages to keep you hooked for close to three hours, a mission impossible these days. Whether it’s the stunts or the shots or the cuts or the background score, Pandey’s able to create an urgency that overrides the misplaced politics or the plot loopholes.

It’s only the romantic track again which lets Pandey down. Just like in Special 26, Akshay’s domestic situation brings everything to a crashing halt. This time it’s the Airtel girl Madhurima Tuli who plays his wife and has lines like “Bas marna mat”. To make up for it, Pandey does have a great setpiece where the special female agent (Taapsee Pannu) completely pulverises the bad guy before Ajay can reach the spot to save her.

After his usual round of inane films like Boss, Holiday, Entertainment, The Shaukeens and what not, Akshay is in a much more acceptable no-nonsense avatar here in Baby. Besides all the jumping around and daredevil stunts, he lends his character true grit through quiet stares and a body language which means business. He too can pluck a tubewell out of the ground but doesn’t need to scream his lungs out to prove his love for his country.

Pandey’s found a great mix in his screenplays — of relentless thrills, understated humour and clap-trap lines. As is evident from his first film, he knows the pulse of the aam aadmi, and not just on a Wednesday. He’s even got a top-drawer star to lead his missions. All he needs to do now is to take out the romantic track from his films and maybe spend a little more time on the title. Got that, Baby?

    Rating-8/10

  • 9.3 cr which is good today will be 12 cr…bcoz of strong wom
    look at ticket price…
yesterday I watched baby at citypride multiplex which is one of finest multiplex in pune….my Showtime was 12.30 pm ticket price was 140 rs… Which Is normal rates but same time n same place just a month ago I watched pk at the rate of 200 rs much expensive…huge difference in ticket prices…

  • WOM is extra positive……
    2nd day 13cr..
    Weekend will be 38cr..
    Till Monday 60cr..
    1st week 85cr… Lifetime 120cr… Superhit..

  • Relax all..Baby will grow by leaps and bounds..just now finished watching this movie. Baby review coming up from me..

  • I’m extremely disappointed. Below of my expectations. With huge 2900 screens across the country Baby should do more than 15 cr in day one.

  • Look at our @babaji ka thullu clearly obsessed with hrithik Roshan…
@babaji u gave bang bang for 4/5 and baby for 3.5/5 then u watched again bang bang and calling it worst movie….LOL
then tomorrow u will watch again baby and then u will say like this ohh I was wrong baby deserve 4.5/5….
    well come to next point…
@babaji…. That saudi police leave them bcoz he understand that all these 3 r agent….

    • @thullu dubai police chief says no in the end after he realizes that the terrorist is in the correct hands of indian agents and as an officer his duty is to eliminate such terrorists from the society even if that

  • well if ticket price cud b same as pk baby cud collect 15-20cr on day 1.. Ticket rates at most just 20-50rs extra in plexes compare to 2012release agneepath, let see how baby will trend on box office and what it wud collect on 26 jan a national holiday hope is high as +ve wom, reviews. I m not sure but this movie cant go over 115cr lifetime… N if this movie wud b cast any khan or hrithik then i can say this movie definately gonna collect 200cr even in jan month… By the way supb movie…. Finally i can say any montj, any festival, any day hrithik is much bigger crowd puller in weekend weathr its clash, non holiday, or pre festive release even with less price of tickets compare to 3khan movies ticket rates… I dnt think so any 1 wud pull the big crowd after getting mix to negative reviews n wom unless they r salman, srk n hrithik…

  • One of the best movies ever made in Bollywood. Donot go by box office collection. Even Grand Masti collected 100 crores.

  • BOI is now under-reporting Baby’s figures too.
Its a crap website and should be banned, but still some section gives importance to that crap website including some useless user’s here on indicine.
Anyways, Baby is a lovely movie, my friends have recommended me to watch it, reports are phenomenal, ImDb ratings are spectacular for a Bollywood film.
‘Baby’ seems to have nailed it ?

    • @zeeshan: BOI only gives the actual figure of the movie…..
But I don’t know why producer’s figure is considered as official, since there is maximum chance that producer’s collection can be manipulated.

    • @swades : because producers will pay tax on the profit they make, not BOI. So why producers will give higher figure if they don’t get the money?. BOI has always under-reported collections. but what media telecasts and popular sites like bollywoodhungama, koimoi shows reaches to the general public. i.e why Krish3’s collection is still counted as 230+Cr whereas BOI showed 170Cr. A huge gap. So please don’t go by BOI figure.
Note : The only movie for which BOI’s figure matches with producers is PK because , here the tracking was made by an external agency hired by Vidhu Vinod Chopra & Hirani.

    • What will they get by manipulating?
      Here is a simple example

If someone gives you 110 rupees, you will know that you have gotten 110 rupees. If someone witnesses this exchange, he may not see the 10 rupees note and think it is just 100 rupees being exchange. He may also see a piece of the 10 rupees note and mistake it as another 100 rupees note,Thus, he thinks 200 rupees are being exchanged.
