2016 will be one of those years when all the superstars in the industry will release the biggest and costliest films of their careers. While Salman Khan has Sultan scheduled for theatrical release during his favourite Eid weekend, Aamir Khan will release ‘Dangal’ during his most successful Christmas weekend.
Hrithik Roshan returns after 2 years with the highly-ambitious ‘Mohenjo Daro’ which is said to be bigger than ‘Baahubali’ when it comes to scale and production values. ‘Baahubali’ didn’t have a superstar, ‘Mohenjo Daro’ has one!
We also have Ajay Devgn, who will be directing and acting in the super-expensive film ‘Shivaay’ which is scheduled to release in theatres during Diwali.
Akshay Kumar too is set to return in a franchise film ‘Housefull 3’, announced for theatrical release during the ‘Post IPL’ weekend.
There are three mega clashes next year, all between superstars, but the clash that is generating the most interest is the one between ‘Sultan’ and ‘Raees’. Shah Rukh Khan has never lost a big clash and Salman Khan never disappoints during the Eid weekend.
Akshay’s Rustom is set to release against Hrithik’s ‘Mohenjo Daro’ and Karan Johar has announced his plans to release ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ during Diwali – setting up a clash with Ajay’s Shivaay.
2016 will be a year of clashes, with the mother of all clashes taking place between ‘Raees’ and ‘Sultan’.
Ormax Media, India’s only specialised Media Insights firm, that tracks box office trends, has released their list of Top 5 films of 2016 (as of November). Sultan tops the list, followed by Dangal and Raees. Then there is ‘Housefull 3’ and ‘Fan’. ‘Mohenjo Daro’ and others, don’t find a mention in the Top 5.

sultan will get postponed i feel but the big question is when will it release…..both raees and sultan sound like festive releases, so release dates could be an issue
as for Mohejendaro, its not easy to match the benchmark set by bahubali……if it indeed does, not only in terms of production values and scale but also content, with hritik in it, sky will be the limit!

first of all nice observations by @sk bro.now i dont think rustam will clash with Mohenjodaro,rather will release in 2nd oct with rangoon.and ashutosh gowarikar is one of the finesh directions of india.his movies are combination of class+repeat vakue+entertainment.lagan,swadesh,jodha akbar are all legend movie in indian history.what ur rashey is not typical ashu’s movie,rather he experiments here.and the bo failure khele hum ji jaha se is not a bad movie either.i think it was flop because jn bachchan and thus it was destined.so without MD,top 3 spot is just incomplete.

SOS outperformed JTHJ with less number of screen and it emerged big hit…and for Blue vs All the best..well, wouldn’t mentioned that clash if I was Makhian..Ajay beat and destroyed Akki’s most ambitious project at that time and dont forget Golmaal 3 also DESTROYED another expensive movie of Akki called (honestly I forget the name but remember the heroine was Aishwarya). .so basically Ajay clashed with Akki two times and the result was just one sides victory. Lol

Even with negative WOM nd reviews, Blue > 44 cr nd ATB > 50crs. Nothing big difference but huge difference in opening .

Aamir khan is coming on Christmas it means you are witnessing the biggest film of 2016 from Bollywood. The only film which I think give competition to Dangal is Bahubali-2. I agree that Dangal content matters alot, it has to be made in the way that I appeals wider section of audiences. Regarding Raees and Sultan, Sultan has clear edge as far as opening concerned. Fan will be interesting but I think Housfull 3 had high chances to be in top 3 & 4, as it releases solo most probably, and post IPL weekend is the best after three festive season. You have 2 festives who booked for clash so house full 3 has high chances. Mohen Jo daro is also big contender to make it top 2 if it release solo.
