2016 will be one of those years when all the superstars in the industry will release the biggest and costliest films of their careers. While Salman Khan has Sultan scheduled for theatrical release during his favourite Eid weekend, Aamir Khan will release ‘Dangal’ during his most successful Christmas weekend.
Hrithik Roshan returns after 2 years with the highly-ambitious ‘Mohenjo Daro’ which is said to be bigger than ‘Baahubali’ when it comes to scale and production values. ‘Baahubali’ didn’t have a superstar, ‘Mohenjo Daro’ has one!
We also have Ajay Devgn, who will be directing and acting in the super-expensive film ‘Shivaay’ which is scheduled to release in theatres during Diwali.
Akshay Kumar too is set to return in a franchise film ‘Housefull 3’, announced for theatrical release during the ‘Post IPL’ weekend.
There are three mega clashes next year, all between superstars, but the clash that is generating the most interest is the one between ‘Sultan’ and ‘Raees’. Shah Rukh Khan has never lost a big clash and Salman Khan never disappoints during the Eid weekend.
Akshay’s Rustom is set to release against Hrithik’s ‘Mohenjo Daro’ and Karan Johar has announced his plans to release ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ during Diwali – setting up a clash with Ajay’s Shivaay.
2016 will be a year of clashes, with the mother of all clashes taking place between ‘Raees’ and ‘Sultan’.
Ormax Media, India’s only specialised Media Insights firm, that tracks box office trends, has released their list of Top 5 films of 2016 (as of November). Sultan tops the list, followed by Dangal and Raees. Then there is ‘Housefull 3’ and ‘Fan’. ‘Mohenjo Daro’ and others, don’t find a mention in the Top 5.

Humble request. Pls indicine tell Salman too shift Sultan if not he will bear all the losses alone.. Tell Gobar if he wants he can shift his Rustom to Xmas day and tell Aamir to release a week after ,I bet you for sure Rustom despite best lucrative holiday will not cross 85 while Despite 1 week later Aamir will spin Gobar like a yoyo when box office collections are being recorded. In other words nobody will even notice a film like Rustom was released. Why I don’t want akki to clash with Hritik is because it will be a shame that a younger kid trashed Gobar so it’s wiser clashing with Aamir so that Akki fans can give that excuse that # oh yes our gobar failed because he clashed with mr perfectionist so no problem. #

Prediction for highest grossers of 2016 (Top3)
1. Mohenjo-Daro- Well most will agree on this. This one is big. Big budget, big team and above all the biggest Non-Khan actor who currently seems the lone man challenging the khans on every step.
Hrithik Roshan is always been there with good films (2014’s Bang Bang being one of the exceptions). But he definitely adds too much value. Also with a return to silver screen after 2 years is just too much curiosity. He needs to deliver this time. Not only with highest collections (should really be contender for first 400cr) but also awards. Historical roles are bound to get you critical acclaim and awards and he should not miss it this time. With Gowariker behind the camera this will be grand. Epic. Storm of records on box office are expected.
2. Dangal- Again the man is genius. He chooses different films and always treat for audience. He too is returning after 2 years with the success of PK. Dangal should get him the second highest grossers of the year. Now one can argue that why not Dangal on no. 1 but that has been done keeping in mind keeping 2 things. Firstly the response to Bahubali hindi version was extra-ordinary. And MohenjoDaro as being rumored is ahead of it as well make MohenjoDaro just ahead. Also wrestler movie will family come out in numbers, not sure if its a violent film.
3. Sultan/Raees- Well keeping it simple. The one to getter better WOM should be 3rd highest grosser. Cant predict a winner as both film are big. However if I have to choose 1 it will be Salman’s Sultan. Salma is in top game. He may have been contender for 1st and 2nd highest grosser but the clash with raees makes it little week for that spot. But still with Salman in it and keeping in mind his popularity he should win against SRK. You look even his PRDP getting such bad WOM is still nearing 200cr its no easy feat. It is all Salman magic. Still the WOM should be the decider for 3rd highest collection of 2016.
