2012 could well be the year when the benchmark for Bollywood movies could go higher. Yes, we are talking about the 200 crore club!
Over the last few years, with the rise of multiplexes at every nook and corner of the country, the movie business in India has boomed. 2011 was a great year for Bollywood with 5 films (Ready, Singham, Bodyguard, Ra One, Don 2) crossing the 100 crore mark. Films like Bodyguard and Ra One did 100 crores of business in Week 1! Which makes us wonder, what if they were better films and carried good word-of-mouth?
As of now the 200 crore club belongs to Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots, but in 2012, there could be an addition(s) to the 200 crore club.
Possible 200 crore movies in 2012, as long the films are superior content-wise:
- Agneepath: Reason: Hrithik Roshan after ZNMD success, massy film, Chikni chameli song.
- Talaash: Reason: Aamir Khan after the super-success of 3 Idiots. First film after 2.5 years.
- Ek Tha Tiger: Reason: Salman Khan on a career high, Katrina Kaif, action thriller, first Salman film after 1 year, EID release.
- Dabangg 2: Reason: Salman Khan, Christmas release, sequel to a super successful film, massy action film.
- Chennai Express: Reason: Shahrukh Khan and Rohit Shetty (director of films like Singham, Golmaal Series).
Further narrowing it down, Talaash, Dabangg 2 and Chennai Express will most likely come close or surpass 3 Idiots.
2013: Too early to predict buttwo films as of now that could join the 200 crore club..
- Dhoom 3: Reason: Aamir Khan, the Dhoom series is probably the most successful franchisee in Bollywood today.
- Krissh 3: Reason: Hrithik Roshan and father Rakesh Roshan coming together after 7 years. They have a 100% success ratio together.
This does not mean, these are the only films that can enter the 200 crore club and nor is it an effort to bring down any other film or superstar. There may well be other films that can achieve this magical figure, as long as the whole package is great.
A movie with a superstar, a good script, director and great songs. For instance the untitled Yash Chopra movie with Shahrukh Khan in it and/or any other film releasing that is touted to cross the 100 crore net box office mark in India could well go on to set higher benchmarks.

Talsh is a dark movie.i don’t think all class will like it.ek tha tiger is only about action.dabang too if got a good story then the titel will work.Srk is with his main romance power in yrj film and in chenni express.so may dabang 2,chenni express and srks yrj film will creat a charm

I advice katrina kaif to reunion with sallu that would be in favour of both. or else she will loses the best chances and will face a decline in her career.

SALMAN will RULE 2012 both of his movie ETT n Dabangg 2 have strong chances to cross 200 Cr. I think Salman is competing with himself.
ETT, DABBANG2, DHOOM3 all have a fair chance of beating 3 idiots, but ppl out here are highly underestimating the power of HR. Before the salman mania hit …it was HR with dhoom 2 (80 crore in 2006) & krrish ( 2nd highest grosser for 2006 after dhoom 2). Also agneepath by now must have given a decent idea of HR power by now…..so guys dont know abt other movies..but mark my words…come diwali 2013 & 3 idiots record is definatly history..when krrish 3 storm hits india….

Afsal From Pakistan: Inshallh Salman Bhai will rule 2012. Ek Tha tiger and Dabangg 2 are most awaited movies in Pakistan…. 200 Cr possible… Request for producres of these films please increase number of screens in Pakistan. There are great chances of generating 30-40 crs from Pakistan itself for these movies.

Single screen audiences like action & love stories both.. but the fact is salman’s fans following & stardum is bigger than srk thats why his every movie will become blockbuster & gross more than srk movies.. salman’s fans are always loyal to him, if he will do any love story he will be successful in that also..
In 90’s salman & srk both are known for their romantic image. That time salman’s movies are more succesful than srk. Dont forget HAHK was top grosser to 90’s & even more hit than DDLJ & KKHH..

Salman has perfect in every role like romantic role(Maine pyar kiya, HAHK, Hum dil de chuke sanam etc), comedy(Mujhse shaadi karogi, Partner, Dulhan hum le jayenge etc), Action(Wanted, Dabangg, Garv etc).. Apart from love stories your srk don’t know anything & mostly his all love stories are same concept.. all are love triangles like Dil to pagal hai, veerzara, darr, Kuch kuch hota hai etc..
& For your kind information salman will be back again with his romantic image.. he signed a family drama with suraj barjatya.. Salman ek baar fir honge pyaar me deewane bcoz “Tere Naam2” script is almost ready..
