Two films released last week, Citylights and Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi, both failed to make much impact at the domestic box office. Vishesh Films’ Citylight has collected around 4 crore in 4 days, while Ekta Kapoor’s Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi has collected less than 2 crore.
Heropanti remains the first choice this week too, as the film is heading towards the 50 crore mark.
But all eyes are now on the second biggest release so far this year, Akshay Kumar’s ‘Holiday – A Soldier Is Never Off Duty’. The pre-release reports are fantastic and even if Holiday doesn’t open as well as other ‘Post-IPL’ releases like ‘Rowdy Rathore’ and ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, it should do well in the long run.
The trade expected ‘Holiday’ to be marketed on a much larger scale, but the promotions over the last few weeks leading up to its release, has been surprisingly low-key. Akshay has been spotted promoting the film at a couple of different events, the usual television appearances, but nothing extravagant so far. Given the positive pre-release reports (almost everyone who has seen it has loved it), it could only mean that the makers are extremely confident of their product.

Maninderjeet Singh Bitta, chairman of the All India Anti-Terrorist Front, is planning to seek tax exemption for ‘Holiday — A Soldier Is Never Off Duty’. “I’ll be writing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to exempt it from entertainment tax across India,” he says.
The film, presented by Reliance Entertainment, has been directed by AR Murugadoss and stars Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles. Having lost both his legs in terrorist attacks, Bitta says he could relate to the movie, which he saw at a recent screening. “If someone like me can get emotional and feel ki desh ke liye kuch karna chahiye, I am sure it will trigger a similar reaction in the youth as well,” he reasons. He is also all praise for the film’s storyline. “As a nation, we get demoralised when we see how the political system works. So, it feels great to see a movie that talks about eliminating terrorism. It shows how an army officer rises above his call of duty for the country,” he says.
Vipul Shah, who is co-producing the film with Akshay, says, “With someone like Bittaji getting emotional, I feel Holiday… has reached somewhere. If it is declared tax-free, and everyone, irrespective of whether he wears a uniform or not, loves it, we’ll achieve our purpose.”

Though i don’t like shaayrana,but blame the night and Tu hi toh hai are good songs,though they are not the type of songs which can be liked by masses like Chinta ta ta…

Holiday created lots of hope from well made trailer and because movie is directed by A.r. Murugodas. I think movie will collect close to 50-55cr in weekend and if wom is good than first week end close to 80-85cr, and lifetime 125cr. But i think it will definitely have very good response so expecting 150cr from the movie. I haven’t seen and listen the music of Holiday, as i used to skip channel whenever i see Akki-sona together. They are very irritating. I wish Akshay will do movie with different actress. And will do a movie with Kat as they both look great together. Wish good luck to Holiday team.
