Last Box Office Flop of Bollywood Actors

Aamir Khan (16 years ago, Mela in January 2000) – Aamir’s last flop was nearly 16 years back when Mela released in theatres. Mangal Pandey didn’t do too well at the box office, but managed to recover its investment due to the bumper opening that it took. While many consider ‘Dhobi Ghat’ to be a failure, the film was profitable for its makers as it did reasonably well in India and performed very well overseas. Those two films apart, the most dependable superstar in the industry holds the record for the most number of all time blockbuster – Ghajini, 3 Idiots, Dhoom 3 and PK. He also has mega grossers like Lagaan, Fanaa, Rang De Basanti, Taare Zameen Par (as director and actor).

Shah Rukh Khan (10 years ago, Paheli in June 2005) – Shahrukh’s last failure was 10 years ago when Paheli bombed at the box office. Since 2005, every single SRK film has managed atleast ‘HIT’ status. Films like Om Shanti Om, Chak De India and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi were ‘Blockbusters’. Chennai Express is his biggest grosser ever. While his fans have a lot to look forward to in the next 8 months (Dilwale, Fan, Raees), do read – Shah Rukh Khan Consistency Redefined

Salman Khan (6 years ago, London Dreams in October 2009) – Veer didn’t do too well the box-office, but didn’t ‘Flop’ either. London Dreams failed, but since 2010, Salman has been unstoppable at the box office. 5 back-to-back blockbusters, followed by an average grosser Jai Ho. But the comeback from ‘Jai Ho’ has been stronger with ‘Kick’ being his first 200 crore grosser and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ his first 300 crore film. 7 of his last 8 films have been blockbusters or better!

Hrithik Roshan (5 years ago, Guzaarish in November 2010) – Hrithik has tried his hand at different genres – a coming of age film (Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara), revenge drama (Agneepath), superhero film (Krrish 3) and an out-an-out action film (Bang Bang) – all have done well at the box office. His last two films managed to gross 300 crore worldwide. Again, consistency-wise, it’s the Khans at the top followed by Hrithik at No 4.

Salman SRK Aamir Hrithik

Salman – SRK – Aamir – Hrithik

Varun Dhawan (no flops so far in 3 years) – Varun also made his debut in Student Of The Year. His films that followed have all been successful – Main Tera Hero (Hit), Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (Super Hit), Badlapur (Hit) and ABCD 2 (Super Hit).

Ranveer Singh (1 year back, Kill Dil in November 2014) – He is one of the most promising stars among the younger generation of actors. Kill Dil didn’t do well at the box office and Dil Dhadakne Do was an average grosser. His big test will come later this year when he takes on the might of SRK/Varun/Kajol with his much-awaited film ‘Bajirao Mastani’. It’s easily the most expensive film of his career too.

Ajay Devgan (11 months back, Action Jackson in December 2014) – Ajay has been successful, but not very consistent at the box office. More often than not, Ajay has delivered one hit, followed by a couple of failures. However, the actor will be working in big films like ‘Shivaay’ and ‘Sons Of Sardaar’, both scheduled to get Diwali releases.

Arjun Kapoor (10 months back, Tevar in January 2015) – After films like Gunday and 2 States was a huge hit, Arjun followed it up with ‘Tevar’ a film that didn’t do well at the box office. Since then, he’s been missing from action. He is currently shooting for R. Balki’s ‘Ki and Ka’ with Kareena Kapoor Khan as his co-star.

Ranbir Kapoor (6 months back, Bombay Velvet in May 2015) – Ranbir looked unstoppable after back-to-back successes in Rockstar, Barfi and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Then came Besharam from the director of Salman Khan’s Dabangg. It took a huge start at the box office recording nearly 20 cr on its opening day, but the crash was equally big. He followed it up with films like Roy and Bombay Velvet – the latter was the biggest loss-making film of all time.

Emraan Hashmi (5 months back, Hamari Adhuri Kahani in June 2015) – Emraan was enjoying the peak of his popularity and stardom when he decided to take a break from Mahesh Bhatt’s brand of cinema. He instead opted to explore different genres and work with bigger banners. What followed were films like Shanghai, Ek Thi Daayan, Ghanchakkar and Raja Natwarlal. Nothing worked. Unfortunately, the return to the Bhatt camp hasn’t worked either – Mr X and Hamari Adhuri Kahani, both released in 2015, have been rejected by the audience.

Akshay Kumar (3 months back, Brothers in August 2015) - Akshay’s films are never washouts. Even in the worst case scenario, his films manage to collect 70 crore plus at the domestic box office. Brothers, though, was a biggie. A film that was expected to do 150 / 200 crore, finished with lifetime business of 80 crore.

Sidharth Malhotra (3 months back, Brothers in August 2015) – Sidharth’s debut film Student Of The Year released in October 2012. Since then, all his films have done well at the box office, except the most recent Brothers which was one of the biggest disappointments of the year so far.

Saif Ali Khan (2 months back, Phantom in August 2015) – Saif’s box office struggle continues. His career as a solo star is going nowhere as even Kabir Khan’s Phantom didn’t work. His films before that were Bullett Raja, Go Goa Gone, Humshakals and Happy Ending – all were loss making films.

Imran Khan (1 month back, Katti Batti in September 2015) - Another actor who has been rejected by the audience. Katti Batti didn’t even manage a face-saving opening at the box office. Kangana Ranaut’s presence didn’t help either.

Shahid Kapoor (This month, Shaandaar in October 2015) – Shahid’s good run that started with films like R.. Rajkumar and Haider, has come to a screeching halt with Shaandaar failing at the box office.

  • Also make an article for ‘lowest grosser since 2000 of top actors’
Shahrukh will top for sure, YLHJK (2004) =40 lakhs lifetime.

  • Ra.One should be Srk’s last flop, in India at least.
    Budget 150 crore
    India nett 120 crore
It recovered its budget in WW business, but in India it failed.
So Ra.one is a flop in India and a hit worldwide.

  • This is the reason why Srk is considered the king of Bollywood. He has tried every possible genre since Paheli whether it’s an offbeat CDI,sci-fi Ra1,an intense thought provoking MNIk,commercial potboilers like Ce,HNY,then romantic movies like Rnbdj and JTHJ and action thrillers like the Don series and all have worked at the BO and majority of movies have taken the biggest opening ever.Even some of the movies which were panned by the audiences turned out to hits. His consistency is truly remarkable

  • Indicine you are completely wrong.
Ranbir Kapoor’s last flop was Rocket Singh.
Bombay velvet n Besharam were disasters.

  • I feel it isn’t fair to compare Aamir with somebody like Akshay who does as many movies as Aamir does in a decade in a span of two years. So the risk involved is more when it comes to Akki’s movies.

  • arjun kapoor – the next promising megastar of btown.
finding fanny flopped due to deepika..
and tevar flopped due to Eros n boney kapoor..

no need to blame arjun kapoor for tevar n finding fanny failure..
    arjun kapoor will surely comeback

  • I dont belive in all this flop/hit nonsense. For me all Akshay Kumar films are blockbusters, he has given zero flops in his career.
For me Akki is the biggest superstar in the world.

  • If SRK is the most ‘consistent’ actor, then Aamir is ‘Super-Consistent’. ?
Haters, just read the line ‘most dependable superstar in the industry’ again and again, you’ll get the answer regarding consistency. ?

  • paheli and swadesh both are cult classis
if u exclude them , then srk too hasn’t given a flop since 2000
bapp of all khans , king khan shahrukh khan
    #king of bollywood

  • Akshay is the biggest superstar, he is selfmade. He was not supported by filmy family (Salman, aamir, hrithik, ranbir) or by big production house (Shahrukh, emraan).

  • Who’s the best new comer?

    Sid, Varun, Arjun, Ayushmaan, Sushant?

    Mine are Aamir & Salman.

    Both doing well since 2009-2010.

And people these two newcomers with THE KING who has single-handedly beaten them for 20 years and never had a single bad phase in his career.

  • i wish emraan hashmi movies do 80cr+ collection . he is realy good actor.he should do thriller, horror,Adult movies.

  • @Khiladi fake Get the hell out of here you loser!

Guys don’t take this @Khiladi’s comments seriously,he’s a fake id created by some stupid troller.I am seeing his Idiotic comments on most pages now.

  • Mela was the last commercial failure of Aamir Khan . Even though Mangal Pandey was also a failure but for the distributors . Dhobi Ghat also i cannot say as some say it was Below Average and some say it was Semi Hit but it was also not a loss making venture for AKP . After Paheli SRK has beem consistent . London Dreams came in 2009 when Salman was going through a bad phase . It is sad to see Brothers on this list because it was looking as one of the Biggest movies of 2015 and the Biggest movie of Akki in 2015 . I don’t like Varun but giving 5 Back to Back Hits is not a joke and his popularity among the youth especially the girls cannot be underestimated . With KB i think the career of Imran Khan is over as an Actor but he can be back as an Director . I am not surprised to see Guzaarish in this list because it was an offbeat movie with a very different concept which the audiences could not accept according to me . But many people has appreciated the movie over the number of years . Most of the movies in this list are craps such as Mela, London Dreams, KB, Shaandaar, AJ, Tevar and KD . I have not seen Brothers, Paheli and HAK . So i can say Guzaarish is the Best movie in this list which is great to see . I hope HR will not give a Flop for a very long long time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Who is the biggest struggler?
Harman baweja, Arjun kapoor, Jackky bhagnani?

    It is none other than
    Srk…
struggling to match the success of two megastars Salman-Aamir since last 3 decades.

  • @Cruise Idiots like you won’t know the difference between a delayed release and a normal release. For your kind information there was another movie named “Mehbooba” starring Ajay and Sanjay which released in late 2000s and it collected in thousands I guess because nobody was aware about the release of the movie

  • 5 Aamir movies took all time highest record breaking opening after 2005.
    1. Mangal Pandey
    2. Fanaa
    3. Ghajini
    4. 3 Idiots
    5. D3.

    Salman: 1
    Srkay: 2

  • There is no any meaning of this kind of articles.

Present is always matters. In present SHAHRUKH nhi chal raha hai market Mein.

    Top 4 commercial actors

    1.. Aamir —- pk…348cr

    2.. Salman —– Bajrangi….321cr

    3.. Hrithik —– krrish3….245cr

    4.. Shahrukh —– CE…..227cr

Always top 3 matters. Rest are just a star..

  • Aamir’s last flop was 16 years ago but it hasn’t been mentioned that he had taken a break for a lot of time after Dil Chahta Hai which meant that he had done less number of films too.
Also to be considered are facts that most of Aamir’s solo movies haven’t been a great success (except for PK : Courtesy Rajkumar Hirani). When he does a solo movie its more or less an average grosser like ‘Talaash’, ‘Mangal Pandey’ etc.
& if you look at his overall career graph .. He has just 11-12 ‘clean Hits’ in more than 25 years. Not an impressive figure.
The fact that people prefer watching Aamir is ‘fake’. It’s always the content that people want to watch. We can agree to the fact that his sense of choosing scripts after the break he had taken has been phenomenal. But talking about Box Office Supremacy it has always been about SRK & Salman (after 2010).

  • While some actors are struggling for Superhit status, Aamir and Salman have consistently given ATBBs for the last 8-9 years.
But still, #SRKrulesJupiter with 3.7 billion fans. ?

  • @jc 45 flops and 9 hits. marigold 18 lakhs worldwide. they have been competing with king for 30 years but fail.sallu has more flops in history i.e 45 and counting

  • Ajay will back with a bang. Shivaaay is sure 200 cr movie.

Btw, look Akki heheheh does he really care about box office?? Isn’t he the guy where his pay is more than what some movies cost.

    #whatagreedyactor

  • real star are those who give blockbuster and by far THE SALMAN KHAN is biggest star of bollywood ever.7 out 8 are blockbusters or better no one can even think to beat this insanely record even in dream forget about reality lol

  • @babaji ka thullu
what is ur problem? Did i say anything bad? These ppl are deciding stardom of an actor by hits and flops, which i dont agree with.
Akshay is biggest star for me, which noone can change.
