Veer Box Office Updates

The trade had huge expectations from Veer and as of today, the Salman Khan starrer directed by Anil Sharma has managed to live upto it.

As we all know by now, business at multiplexes all over India was on the lower side (30-40%) right from Day 1 (Friday). Monday witnessed a further crash and the film has been rejected at the plexes. Collections down south are disastrous, business in two key centers in Karnataka – Bangalore and Mangalore – is way below expectations.

But what’s heartening is the fact that, the target audience of Veer, have taken to the film big time. Business at B and C centers in India is strong and the trending is pretty good.

Collections were strong on Friday, followed by a minor dip on Saturday, picked up again with Sunday recording the best collections for the weekend. Weekdays were always going to be crucial and the film has sustained well – Monday witnessed an expected dip in collections, but business on Republic day  (Tuesday) was record breaking, similar to the boost that Wanted received on its first Monday.

Below are the day to day collections of Veer

  1. Friday – 7 crores
  2. Saturday – 6 crores
  3. Sunday – 7.5 to 8 crores
  4. Monday – 3 crores
  5. Tuesday – 6.5 crores

5 day total – approx 31 crores.

Week 1 is expected to be somewhere between 34 – 36 crores.

What remains to be seen in the next few days

  • Can Veer sustain and match its Monday collections during the remaining two weekdays i.e today and tomorrow?
  • Will the release of Rann and Ishqiya affect its collections? Unlikely to, since both releases this week are targeted mainly at the multiplex audience.

Hehehe…I dont know what to say… After Ramu ke Sholay, Veer is another highly-anticipated film rejected by critics. Ramu ke sholay sank in 1st day itself but still Veer has managed to survive.
I am not saying Veer was fantastic but it was not bad either. It certainly doesnt deserve the rejection from critics/media it is getting.Lets see what is in store for Veer. Fingers crossed.

Thanks alot .I am happy. But I am worried because BoxofficeIndia says that it made nearly 29 crores business in 5 days. and here it is written that, “5 day total – approx 31 crores.” just I am curious about the accurate business reports.

I am just happy that, Veer has crossed flop and disaster status.. Happy :D

CRITICS MORE HARMFUL THAN PIRACY :-

This Taran Adarsh is a bloody Mental retard. He can’t digest the fact that VEER is doing Good Buisness Considering the Outright Negative Reviews. 29 cr till now is really good.. Now it Surely Looks VEER will do atleast 45-50 cr lifetime buisness. It will an Above Avg to Semi-Hit now for sure.
But, if does little better than all chances to do a HIT buisness.

Actually The Film Industry Suffers more from Bastards like Taran, Rajeev, Raja Sen rathar than From Piracy. Its now High time than Producers Must Take strict Action
and stop any kind of reviews publication till atleast 1 Week. Let the Audience decide the fate of a Film and not some mental retards.

God Save Film Industry from CRITICS, coz they are causing more harm than piracy. Had VEER not being thrashed, it could have easily done a buisness of 45-50 cr
in week 1 flat. GET WELL SOON CRITICS !!!

‘Veer’ not going strong at box office

NEW DELHI: Salman Khan’s much ambitious period drama “Veer” has fallen flat at the box office despite having an extended weekend for business,
thanks to Republic Day. The movie has not gone beyond an average 45 percent occupancy over the initial weekend.
Released Friday, the film was a solo release, but has failed to attract masses.

” ‘Veer’ is an average movie. While the constant on Friday and Saturday was only 44 percent occupancy, it dropped to 39 percent on Sunday and has been on an average only 43 percent over the initial weekend,” Amit Awasthi, manager (programming and operations) of Spice Cinemas at Noida, told.

“It is now expected to fall around 30-35 percent. We were running 19 shows per day and in the new week, we will change it to eight shows per day,” he added.

Written by Salman 20 years ago, the film was co-produced by Eros International Media Ltd presentation and Vijay Galani’s Moviez production.

Made at a budget of around Rs.44 crore, (Rs.440 million) ‘Veer’ has been directed by Anil Sharma and marks the big screen debut of Zarine Khan, who is said to have a close resemblance to Salman’s actress girlfriend Katrina Kaif.

Set in colonial India, the film encapsulates a period when the British enslaved India with their divide and rule policy and kings and nawabs fell for it, except for the Pindaris who preferred death to dishonour and fought till their last breath. Salman plays one of the bravest and strongest Pindari soldiers named Veer.

“There has been a major drop in the movie. ‘Veer’ is a period movie and audiences have not been able to relate to it. The movie got only around 40 percent of opening because there was no competition considering it was a solo release,” said Yogesh Raizada, corporate head (cinemas) of Wave Cinemas.

“Now that we have an extended weekend due to Republic Day, may be it gets some footfalls as people don’t have any other movie to watch,” he added.

Piyush Raizada, director of Delite Cinema that upgraded itself into a two-screener, however, claims that movie is doing a good business.

“‘Veer’ is doing very well and the collections are fantastic considering it’s a long weekend,” said Raizada.

aniket check out Tuesday reviews ….. veer is a hit ……………go check

Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Veer recorded huge collections on Tuesday which was Republic Day holiday. The film grossed around 6.25 crore nett as per early estimates which takes it five day business to nearly 29 crore nett. The collections on Tuesday are the second highest ever for a Tuesday after Three Idiots but is must be noted that Veer did the business on a major holiday.

The film has benefited hugely from Republic Day holiday as the collections are double of what they would have been if it was a normal day.

The film is now heading for a 33 crore nett plus total and a distributor share of over 20 crore. Normally films post large drops after a big holiday so if Veer can stay around its Monday range on Wednesday and Thursday that will a good sign for its second weekend.

( but what i don’t understand is why those ugly critics r trying to make public a fool …..???? what r these ppl after ???)

amish:  (January 27, 2010 at 3:59 pm)

Is there some competition like who will give higher collections?? ha ha come on man this s ridiculous.
Ab ithna tho increase math karo.

BOI gives a particular no, den der s competition between indicine and bollybusiness to attract salman fans by giving higher collections..;) One quotes indicine collections in bollybusiness and vice versa..;)

If every person wants higher no`s den chal Nauman apna ek site banathe hain aur likh dethe hain 40cr week 1..;)

aman:  (January 27, 2010 at 4:01 pm)
