The teaser of Salman Khan’s Tubelight was released a couple of days ago. It was aired for the television audience across the Star TV network and for the internet audience on YouTube.
The response has been mixed and it’s probably the weakest teaser of a Salman Khan film in a long time.
Teasers of event films are released to generate ’instant craze’, which teasers of films like ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and ‘Sultan’ did get, but ‘Tubelight’ hasn’t. Even the ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ teaser had those commercial ingredients – India/Pakistan, Bajrang Bali ka bhakt, Action, Romance/Kareena and Nawazuddin for those lighter moments. ‘Tubelight’ lacks almost all of it and relies almost entirely on Salman.
This has left a section of the industry and trade wondering why a teaser was required in the first place – when it didn’t have action or those massy-elements that instantly generates hype around a film.
It could well be because the makers needed more time to get the trailer right and with less 2 months to go for the theatrical release, they wanted to put something out there for the fans and the audience.
The film has also been severely criticised across social and mainstream media for its similarities with the Hollywood film ‘Little Boy’ – even though the makers have officially credited it with ‘Story Based on the Original Film – Little Boy’ in the teaser itself.
Moving on to the more positive side of things, the response to the teaser simply does not matter. Salman Khan is too big at the moment and his films will be watched. Irrespective of the kind of response the teaser gets, audience are now saving money to watch his films during Eid.
Secondly, the mixed response to the teaser also means the makers have the opportunity to put all the negativity (Little Boy, etc) aside by the time the trailer releases in the last week of May.
And finally, the best part of the teaser seems to be Salman himself. The innocence of his character has generated curiosity and it’s not the usual Salman that we get to see during Eid.
Won’t say it,s n excellent teaser…But a good teaser nevertheless…Quite confident the makers will release a great theatrical trailer before Tubelight hits theatres 47 days from now…Want to clarify one thing is that adaptation or inspired is one thing but copying is totally different thing…My request to non Salman Khan fans is that Plz dnt spread negativity about Tubelight… Anyways worst case scenario for Tubelight is around 320 crores…And best case scenario for Tubelight,if WOM is excellent from all quarters than 375 crores could be achieved by Tubelight domestic bussiness…#Yakeen ekk Tubelight ki tarah hota hai…Der se jalta hai,par jab jalta hai full light kar deta hai ???

Yes it is not usual Salman movie, but when he make action movies then Critics say that he won’t try different, and now when he is trying different then Trade say it is not impactful like other Salman movies……What Salman will do now…..
For Trade people I want to say wait for TZH for impactful Teaser and Trailer…..And for Tubelight whether it has action scene or not it will break BO records…..Just Wait & Watch….

I am one of the biggest fan of Salman Khan but like you mentioned……even I am having a mixed feelings after watching the teaser.
It seems like he is playing the same character as Hrithik did in Koi Milgaya….. child like innocence and naturally gifted etc.. Infact it will be very hard for Salman to match up to Hrithik’s level…. It looks like bajrangi bhaijaan meets Koi Mil Gaya with war background…..I hope the film is well made
India media has problems with everything related to Salman Khan…. When he was doing back to back commercial entertainers all were chanting that why don’t Salman experiment? Salman can’t make a film out of his comfort zone and blah blah blah…
Now, he makes a completely different movie Tubelight and the same media is chanting that what’s need of doing this non commercial looking movie? He should do only commercial action movies and blah blah blah….!

Wth? I loved the teaser and thought its the best teaser for a Salman film after ett. Even the audience response was good from wat I saw on YouTube likes and comments. The only thing ppl were questioning was the little boy element which seemed to cleared out after they officially announced it that’s its adapted. I loved the teaser.

Doesn’t matter how many views and likes the trailer gets, the teaser is not upto mark. Salman fans continously chanting it’s an excellent/outstanding teaser and somehow the likes are in their favour too. Salman’s character was disappointing, those Kyon Ki references were irritating.
