Q. Has SRK’s streak of back to back hit films ended with FAN and do you think Salman can break the all time record set by Rajesh Khanna.
A. Yes, the winning streak has ended. Rajesh Khanna had 15 consecutive successful films, starting with Aradhana in 1969 to Apna Desh in 1972. Shah Rukh Khan’s success-streak started with Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna (after the failure of Paheli) and ends with the theatrical failure of FAN. He had 12 films that were ‘Above Average’ or better.
Q. Why FAN IMDb rating is so high when it neither worked at single screens or multiplexes, domestic or overseas?
A. That’s because most of the votes are from fans. The rating was 9 on the day the film released, 8.3 earlier this week, it’s now 8.1. IMDb ratings gradually drop. The ratings are no longer as reliable as they used to be, atleast not as soon as the film is released.
Q. Top 5 superstars in terms of fan following?
A. Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Akshay Kumar.
Q. Will the focus of Priyanka and Deepika on their Hollywood careers affect their standing in the Hindi Film Industry?
A. Priyanka is in her mid-30s now and her move to Hollywood has come at the right age. Actresses in Hollywood have longer careers, while in our film industry the decline begins at the age of 31-32. Deepika hasn’t completely moved to Hollywood, she’s doing just one film, so it remains to be seen how it goes for her.
Q. What does the future beholds for SRK as a commercial star? His future line ups (apart from Raees may be) doesn’t look like out-n-out commercial films…so does the debacle of Dilwale and FAN going to affect his popularity among neutral audience?
A. His following among neutral audience has decreased in the last few years, but his fan-following remains strong. It’s exactly the reason why his films are taking a massive opening, but not sustaining even during the first weekend. Word-of-mouth of his last few films have been mixed to negative, so he needs a big success now. A film that not only opens well, but does well for 2-3 weeks on the strength of positive word-of-mouth.
Raees could be that film, it has commercial ingredients and the reports are positive too. All it needs is a good date, but the makers are struggling to find a suitable release date for the film. That in itself is a big worry, because when SRK announced a film before, the others would simply make way for him. But now, we have clashes and other producers holding press conferences to re-confirm their release date or releasing their first look posters 5 months prior, to slam the release date.
For the three Khans to sustain their dominance over the industry, they need solo releases during festive weekends (Eid, Diwali, Christmas), if they can’t get that, they might struggle to deliver those big grossers, which will weaken their standing. Aamir and Salman have been able to hold – Aamir is getting a solo Christmas release, Salman has already booked Eid and Diwali next year. Losing the clash to Bajirao Mastani has hurt SRK.
Having said all that, he’s still a top star with a huge die-hard following. who needs one good film to bounce back strongly. It’ll only be a problem if that ‘good film’ doesn’t come soon.
I don’t know why people are getting so hyper about fan flop . They r saying srk career is over. But it far from over. Amir’s talash floped but he came back with an atbb dhoom3 . Salmans veer flopped but he came back with a atbb dabang. So raees is going to be a comeback film for srk . It’s going to be atbb. So calm down srk will be the king again . If SRK has full belief in the commercial potential of Raees he should release it on Eid without considering the effect of Sultan. And if Raees manages to trump Sultan that could well be the tonic SRK needs
Known for massive hits like Tanu weds Manu and Tanu Weds Manu Returns, director Aanand L Rai is currently not just working on the script of his next film but also on the visual effects to ensure that Shah Rukh Khan looks like a convincing ‘little person’ in his next film.
While interacting with The Hindu, Aanand L Rai said,
“He (Shah Rukh) has a great understanding of cinema and people. I connect very well with him. He is a star and can choose what he wants to do but now he is returning to this realistic space.”
The director hinted that even the female lead in the film will be a ‘little person’. The film is a love story, according to the director.
“All I can say right now from the director’s perspective is that it is a love story of two incomplete people but with a fun element,” said Rai.
The director has earlier revealed that his yet-to-be-titled film will go on floors in December 2016. Produced by Eros International, it will hit the silver screens in Christmas 2017.

Talaash was not a flop, it recovered its investment. It is a semi hit. It did 95 crore in 2012.
FAN is a flop, it failed to over its 105 crore budget, and will do only 85 crore in 2016.
Footfalls of FAN are nearly half of Talaash.
Sultan teaser has gotten 1,10,000 likes so far, almost double than 65,000 likes of Raees teaser.

To get huge Blockbuster film one needs big holiday release that too solo…. Be practical and tell me is there any big holiday dates r available in this year or even next year’s EDX for our global queen film to be released???
And to some extent 2018 EDX dates have been blocked… As Indicine is expecting big hit for haklu I can’t see any sort of come back chances for our beloved queen…

Obviosuly, not just he lost dilwale-BM clash, we must not forget even his clash with Ajay devgan inspite of more screens, collections were nearly same…Srk in clashes in recent years has been average….No one is going to make way for him at least not salman, aamir as well as big directors like slb, hirani etc can also take him if they have good script as they are sure a strong wom can kick ass of srk
Btw, Jungle book was not a straight clash but in one way fan did compete with that movie…here also srk lost as from monday onwards screens were allocated to jungle book…even today shows of fan are getting cancelled…jungle book 3rd saturday came at 6.5 crores,…if a director with an actor like ranveer believes in content of his film they should definetly take on srk …he is no longer the force he used to be…just because he was superstar since 20 years does not mean he is today…he should not be getting a free run nor an open week. I will dare srk to release his raees against befikre…it will be fun to see him getting trashed aga

What’s the reason for posting a large percentage of srk related articles here compared to other stars? Is the decision dictated due to the high number of server hits that srk-related articles generate due to fan-wars and a possible increase in revenue? If yes, is it ethical?
Why did average to poor films like hny, dilwale and fan get 4 star reviews whereas a film like PK got less stars?? Is it due to the fact that giving a 4 star review when other competing sites give less star reviews would increase the chances of an “Indicine Review” getting published in the next day’s newspaper ads thereby giving your site more publicity and hits?? Or have you lost touch of what the public wants and likes and are now simply behaving like paid unethical reviewers??

@nawaab Agree with you on that. When the time for film review comes, indicine has always played it safe and haven’t given honest reviews so as to not antagonise the star’s blind followers early. Only after the box office verdict becomes clear after the initial weekend, they start being themselves again. But to the credit of indicine, while giving the box office analysis, they have always been spot on and have never sugarcoated the failings of the movie unlike other sites. But initially, they do play safe.
Finally indicine also accepted dat without EDx srk cant give big grossers….now srk fans got2 kn the truth
