Q. Has SRK’s streak of back to back hit films ended with FAN and do you think Salman can break the all time record set by Rajesh Khanna.
A. Yes, the winning streak has ended. Rajesh Khanna had 15 consecutive successful films, starting with Aradhana in 1969 to Apna Desh in 1972. Shah Rukh Khan’s success-streak started with Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna (after the failure of Paheli) and ends with the theatrical failure of FAN. He had 12 films that were ‘Above Average’ or better.
Q. Why FAN IMDb rating is so high when it neither worked at single screens or multiplexes, domestic or overseas?
A. That’s because most of the votes are from fans. The rating was 9 on the day the film released, 8.3 earlier this week, it’s now 8.1. IMDb ratings gradually drop. The ratings are no longer as reliable as they used to be, atleast not as soon as the film is released.
Q. Top 5 superstars in terms of fan following?
A. Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Akshay Kumar.
Q. Will the focus of Priyanka and Deepika on their Hollywood careers affect their standing in the Hindi Film Industry?
A. Priyanka is in her mid-30s now and her move to Hollywood has come at the right age. Actresses in Hollywood have longer careers, while in our film industry the decline begins at the age of 31-32. Deepika hasn’t completely moved to Hollywood, she’s doing just one film, so it remains to be seen how it goes for her.
Q. What does the future beholds for SRK as a commercial star? His future line ups (apart from Raees may be) doesn’t look like out-n-out commercial films…so does the debacle of Dilwale and FAN going to affect his popularity among neutral audience?
A. His following among neutral audience has decreased in the last few years, but his fan-following remains strong. It’s exactly the reason why his films are taking a massive opening, but not sustaining even during the first weekend. Word-of-mouth of his last few films have been mixed to negative, so he needs a big success now. A film that not only opens well, but does well for 2-3 weeks on the strength of positive word-of-mouth.
Raees could be that film, it has commercial ingredients and the reports are positive too. All it needs is a good date, but the makers are struggling to find a suitable release date for the film. That in itself is a big worry, because when SRK announced a film before, the others would simply make way for him. But now, we have clashes and other producers holding press conferences to re-confirm their release date or releasing their first look posters 5 months prior, to slam the release date.
For the three Khans to sustain their dominance over the industry, they need solo releases during festive weekends (Eid, Diwali, Christmas), if they can’t get that, they might struggle to deliver those big grossers, which will weaken their standing. Aamir and Salman have been able to hold – Aamir is getting a solo Christmas release, Salman has already booked Eid and Diwali next year. Losing the clash to Bajirao Mastani has hurt SRK.
Having said all that, he’s still a top star with a huge die-hard following. who needs one good film to bounce back strongly. It’ll only be a problem if that ‘good film’ doesn’t come soon.

I feel that if Abbas-Mustan had directed FAN, then it would have at least been a hit. Abbas-Mustan have given many entertaining thrillers in the past.

Big slap on all aamir haters who were barking against talaash. Look at fan(2016 released film with 3600 screens) and jai ho (2014 released film with 4000 screens) before blabbering against 2012 released talaash (2400 screens).

The title of the article is too vague…….and most of all, childish!
Why should srk make a comeback? After all these years of gives superhits and blockbuster in a career spanning almost 25 years.
It is another thing that I may not be a fan of majority of his movies, but srk has achieved too much to make a comeback.
He may not be bossing the box office, but he is a force to be reckoned with even after so many years. He along with Salman, Aamir, Akshay and Ajay are too big to even be categorised in to all this so called “come back” thing.
I guess the best candidate for that would be – Ranbir Kapoor. That guy is going through the bad phase. I like his acting. But, look around, Ranveer Singh is literally owning him. This is the phase that a Salman, srk or aamir had gone through and came out all guns blazing…….will this new kid return to his glory of just a year back ???…….may be that could have been a better story!
SRK and his films belong to international market… That’s why he is the only actor who can get international people at his movies. The rest of them, don’t have that hype for inter.market, and can’t make us to go in cinemas, because their movies are made only for indians! #SRKingKhan always & forever!
SRK experimented 1st time after long long time and it failed. Now even he searching a other date for next film. If he had confidence in content of RAEES then he would have stuck to EID release but he didn’t.

Not true.
SRK experimented with RA-1. SRK experimented with DON-2 too. RA-1 atleast had Kareena and “chammak challo” chartbuster song. DON-2 had no real heroine. Again, the movie crossing 100 Cr on SRK superstardom alone with poor direction and poor writing.
FAN is an ultra-experiment from SRK. There is no heroine, no song, no supporting cast to support him. Its only SRK vs SRK.

As much as Aamir supporters want to believe FAN is TALAASH. No its not. TALAASH had AAMIR-NAWAZ-RANI-KAREENA quartet.
FAN had SRK alone!. Its a one man show literally from beginning to end!
FAN is absolutely unique film.

Talaash released back in 2012 and had all disadvantages like dark suspense thriller genre, released only a week before a mass commercial film khiladi 786, and way less number of screens compared to jai ho and fan. Fan is released in 2016 and way more screens. Do you even understand anything about business economics, film’s overall factors or not.

I always feel u support srk..there r many gr8 actors in our industry..i want u to compare srk,ajay devgan, salman khan, akshay kumar and amir khan with respect to acting that2 promptly.

Don 2 was not an experimental film. It was safe sequel film and opening it got was awesome but then it dropped due to weak storyline. And ended semi hit status.
Yes I agree Ra.One was experimental.
But FAN had every hype it deserved. Jabra song, thriller genre and SRK in different look. But the script was poor so it Flopped.
SRK has learnt a bitter lesson of experimentation.
So in future he will definitely stick to what he is best at.
Two bad films and SRK is down on confidence.
If RAEES is content driven then he must release it on a non holiday.
It’s going to to be pushed to next year (still decision on hold) that spreads negativity of the film. And people lose interest like what happening with Jagaa Jasoos.

DON-2 is clearly an experimental film. DON-2 took the hollywood B movie route with absolutely no masala, not even “khaike paan banaras wala” item number like DON. No real songs, mostly background. And much of the dialogues were in english. Still crossed 100 Cr on SRKs stardom alone.
FAN is ULTRA-experimental imo. If JABRA was promoted so much, why was it deliberately deleted from the film? You ever thought of this. A charbuster that everyone enjoyed is missing on big screen. JABRA was desperately needed in this heroine-less one man show in the era where everyone inserts an “item number” just to get 10 extra crores!.
Even AAMIR made sure he was working with RANI-KAREENA-NAWAZ in his pseudo-experimental TALAASH. Give SRK credit where its due. He never forced Maneesh to include JABRA song somewhere to protect his superstardom.
FAN wont be scored 8.1 on IMDB if the script was poor. CE script was poor. PRDP script was poor. FAN’s script was very different. Does not mean its poor. Either you dont understand movies or you are just a hater. Rotten Tomatoes give FAN 88% so far and there is a reason for it.
FAN did not go towards 200 Cr beacause it was a heroine-less, song-less, Item number less, masala-less, co-star less out-&-out “dark” little thriller. It shocked audiences. so they stayed away.
RAEES will release on July 3rd looks like. Dont be surprise if RAEES trailers makes its debut with HOUSEFUL-3 opening weekend. I think People are in big surprise. A reason why SRK, Ritesh, Farhan all quite about its actuall release. Its in post-production. Director’s T shirt said “EID.”
LALLU no longer be able to cross 180 Cr with PRDP-like garbage with SULTAN.
RAEES will release 4 days ahead and will be available for EID. Rest of the 2016 is all jam packed.
Even SRK might have one christmas release with women-centric GAURI SCHINDE film so need to clash RAEES with DANGAL.
No matter what he is still better than salman even in his worst time
