You can’t make a bad film work, nor can you kill a good film: Aamir Khan

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has said that people who target films for cheap publicity, cannot kill a good film, if people like it.

“When people like the film, then it becomes a hit. When we say ‘hit’, we mean people like that film. The only reason behind a hit film is that how good you have made it. And if you have made a bad movie, no matter how well you market that film, it’s not going to do well.” Aamir said.

The actor went on to add that no matter how much a film is promoted, they cannot make a bad film work. At the same time, they can’t kill a good film.

“No matter what you do, you can’t make a bad film work. And no matter what you do, you can’t kill a good film. It works both ways” he said.

Talking about films being targeted for cheap publicity, Aamir said “It is an unfortunate fact that nowadays, every film seems to have attracted some or the other controversy. There was a case of plagiarism filed against Rajkumar Hirani for ‘PK’. The person filing the case got his name on the front page, which is what he wanted. So, it has now become easy to get publicity”

  • This is a reason why hate this man. He always calls himself bible of cinema.
His own crap movies did huge business and good movies did average to flop
    Raja Hindustani
    Gajini
D3 all these average or crap still did huge while his good movies like
Sarfarosh, dch, Lagan, rangila could not earn much at Bo. He is jealous of srk.

  • Totally DISAGREE!! Swadesh, madras cafe, shaahid etc were classics but many ppl even don’t their names.
Films succeed only on the following factors hero-heroine name, brand, music, director name.

  • Not agree but may be he is talking about the films which audience likes to watch in theatre,we can’t judge a film with our own belief that they were good or badbad, yes now a days big superstars festive releases won’t got flopped but that being hit also termed as underperformance.
Talking about d3 wasn’t a bad film, a film which has avg rating of 3/5+ from critics, has been sustained outstanding from its 4th day and went to break records all over cant termed as bad film.It was still better movie than other films that has been released in recent times of it generation but yes that film is not par at the standard of an Aamir film known to be.
But when you have superb film like Talaash,pk in between that being an Aamirian I don’t mind if he choose non sense masala film like d3.

  • @indicine

Thanks for allowing the ‘chameleons’ to give me a lecture on morality… I mean that was very thoughtful of you- its like a criminal giving a judge guidelines on laws, I feel like my months of bashing chameleonism out of your website was rewarded by you feeling it appropriate for those very chameleons to come back n start telling me that I cant say what I feel as plain old me as I must say it using an alias n that way play it safe. Maybe now I too will go away n come back as ‘jadoo nipun’, ‘shaukeen babuji’, ‘messanger of Sauron’ etc etc bcoz being a chameleon is the next best thing….

Let me mull it over for a sec or two….

Ok time up- nah I cant join the bandwagon to hell- I will carry on tackling the chameleons who have now decided to take the high moral ground- let me knock them of their stride… Bunch of losers

  • definition of a good film is that the target audience should like it….

seldom does it happen that good films from the target audience’s point of view flop…..example andaz apna apna, gangs of wassepur etc

  • I guess, here Aamir is trying to say that no matter how much a film earns, if the movie is bad, there is no respect for it.
While even if a movie is brilliant but fairs averagely at the BO, it earns way more respect in the eyes of the people.
He says that BO collection should be the ‘last’ parameter to judge a film. It is the quality that viewers take keep with them for a long time.
Its good that some actors like him, Irrfan and filmmakers like Anurag Kashyap, Raju Hirani, Dibakar Banerjee strive for excellence in quality cinema.

  • @thullu yes gunday was such a bad film that a certain kshitiz srivastav initally rated it 3.5 out of 5 and later changed it to 2.5.neither of the ratings qualify into bad category but its understandable y he always speaks trash about gundat

  • @megha aunty

Must be nice having kshitij n nipun defending you…. If it was me I rather have just me defending myself than those two backstabbing treacherous manipulative chameleons but we all know you not the sweet aunty they are now making you out to be….! You are infact nipun in anupamas charitable donated clothing..,,

  • Perfaketionist should tell like this—–if you can successfully target a RELEGION,then no one could stop you.

Also our illiterate Indians OMG with illiterate perfaketionist thinks pk is a class movie where alien can use their hands as data transfer wires ,lol.I think next time perfaketionist with try another such out of world thinking’s which also assumed as classic and surely will get Oscar as amir got Oscars for his each movie but can’t earn Filmfare still yet.hats off to our perfaketionist for giving class movies like talash, dhoom3,jadoo4 sorry pk,lol.but still unfortunately after choosing brands/big directors still his acting intensity is very low compare to shahid Kapoor and out of reach of the KING OF ACTING.unfortunately both pk can’t be nominated by ghanta however both talash/d3 won this prestigious award.there is a race between our perfaketionist and bhai to win this prestigious award, lol.

  • Why this mentally-challanged buddha Navin grandpa is always barking about me and Babaji unnecessarily? What’s the reason and need of talking about Chameleons in an article about a statement by a superstar.
Navina dadaji, go and call your kids as victims of Paedophilia
