Over the last couple of years, Salman Khan has firmly established himself as the most popular star amongst the masses. In the interiors of India, he has a following that can only be rivalled by Rajnikanth in Tamilnadu.
Such is his star-power that Yashraj are literally ‘using’ Salman’s popularity in the small towns to pre-book single-screens for Yash Chopra’s next starring Shahrukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma.
The biggest hurdle in their way is Son of Sardar, a film targeted at the masses, which also releases during Diwali this year. Since action films are the first choice at single-screens, Yashraj is trying to convince exhibitors to pre-book screens for the Yash Chopra directed film.
In short, it’s a combo-deal. Want to screen Ek Tha Tiger? Book the next film from our production house too.
At multiplexes and the overseas markets, things will be different. Shahrukh Khan commands a massive fan-following and his next will obviously be the first choice. Also, with most multiplexes equipped with multiple screens, it’s easier to release more than one big-budget film on the same day.
But with single-screens generating almost 45-50% of the revenue for some of the biggest hits of the year like Agneepath, Rowdy Rathore and Housefull 2, Yashraj are keen on a wide single-screen release for their Diwali release too.

yes! Salman khan’s populariry is geting used, else everyone knows the fact that action movies would work in singlescreen and salman or ajay , akshay in main lead then who gonna watch the budhdha’s romance.

And in a recent interview katrina told that Akshay helped her more than Sallu to establish in bollywood. What good will happen if both star’s fans talk against each other. Bohot saari lok aamir khan ke naam lete hain, magar main 1baat bolna chati hu…aamir ke film sirf ek acchi script ke bajase chalti hain…ek acchi script chunna aamir ke credibility hain….magar ek bura film aamir apne bolbute par hit nahi kar sakti…keuki lok uske acchi film dekhne jati hain…sirf uske nahi….so, aamir’s film rocks but aamir khud nahi.
